"Sandboxr" article review
Good evening Mdann52,
I am wondering if you could review an article you deleted recently? I have edited the original article and would like to get this reviewed and published if possible. Someone else had written the original article and it was untouched and unedited for over 6 months. I would appreciate any feedback you have to make this an unbiased article.
Thanks for your help with this.

- @Georgiebec: You need to add a few more sources, then it is good to go :) --Mdann52talk to me! 08:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks User:Mdann52. I have added another two sources for your review. Thanks a bunch User:Georgiebec —Preceding undated comment added 18:08, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
Gulistan, Dhaka
Hi, I'm new here and finding my way to create an acceptable article. Can you help me to figure out the thingss I may need to change or make some corrections? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Gulistan,_Dhaka Afrin.Danny (talk) 14:57, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
Can you please review this article? And give me some feedback? Afrin.Danny (talk) 21:26, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- The lede is not in an appropriate tone for a Wikipedia article. Phrases like "every place in Gulistan is a market" is not appropriate for an article. --Mdann52talk to me! 13:12, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Hello Mdann52. Thank you very much for reviewing, accepting and publishing the article I created on Baye McNeil. I have some more work on it since its publication - noting more references, and including an external link...I saw that another editor inserted a notice at top of article questioning its notability. I don't understand why. I followed all instructions I was given on articles for creation help page and in live chat I did with help page - noting sources I was informed were reliable...Do you have any thoughts on this? Once again, thank you for your help! Minusminority (talk) 05:23, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- This is probably what I was expecting; The sources are ok to keep the article in mainspace, but it is always looking for more. The template has several useful links in it, and I would recommend looking at them to see if any more exist. --Mdann52talk to me! 13:54, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Mdann52. Thanks for the reply. By "template" you mean notice/tag re. notability at top of article, right?...There are numerous references on subject that pop up when doing google search. I've included several more since submitting article. I don't understand why notability is being questioned. I'll leave a post re. this on talk page of article...Thanks again for your help! Ben Watt in Feb 2010
User:Mdann52 Hi there. I changed the licence on Flickr as well, but couldn't work out which one corresponded with what licence I had been asked to change it to here. Flickr gives me to following options:
1. Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike Creative Commons 2. Attribution-NonCommercial Creative Commons 3. Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs Creative Commons 4. Attribution Creative Commons 5. Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons 6. Attribution-NoDerivs Creative Commons
Which one should I select?
Thanks,
Edward
- @Edwardmbishop: Number 5 is {{cc-by-sa}}, which is probable the best one to use. --Mdann52talk to me! 13:52, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
User:Mdann52 Thanks for the advice, I've changed it as you suggest. Edward — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.233.72.52 (talk) 11:14, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
User:Mdann52 Hi. I changed it as you suggested. What do I need to do now in order to change the picture on the specific page? Edward
- @Edwardmbishop: the file page still states cc-nd-2.0, which we can't use on Wikipedia. Please can you update this on the Flickr page, then I will upload it. --Mdann52talk to me! 13:20, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

User:Mdann52 My photo has been uploaded, thank you. Is there a way that I can remove the Full Res version (4,474 × 3,356 pixels) and leave the remaining versions? Thanks, Edward. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.120.206 (talk) 10:59, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
- No, however you can manually change the size; eg. [[File:Ben Watt by Edward Bishop.jpg|thumb|100px]] produces the following. --Mdann52talk to me! 11:04, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Archiving
Hi, when you used User:Equazcion/OneClickArchiver on 21 October, a lot of threads disappeared without making it to the archive. Would you mind taking a look? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:28, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- archived manually. --Mdann52talk to me! 08:26, 8 November 2013 (UTC)Resolved
Baye McNeil "orphan" tag
Hello Mdann52, FYI, I see you tagged Baye McNeil article as "orphan." I've added some links to article and was wondering if they suffice or more are needed...(Noted this on article's talk page as well.)...Thanks for your input!...Minusminority (talk) 02:14, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- I see it has been removed already. --Mdann52talk to me! 08:16, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

New features
- You can now use the "Autonym" font of the Universal Language Selector (ULS) to display the name of languages (for example in navigation templates) in their correct script. To do this, add the CSS class
"autonym"
to the elements that include language names. Note that this font only works for the name of languages, not for any other text. [1]
Problems
- There was a problem with Parsoid (the program used by VisualEditor to convert wikitext to annotated HTML) on November 4, between 19:40 and 20:40 (UTC). Encoding issues caused non-ASCII characters (including those with diacritics, like "é") to be broken when converted to wikitext and saved to the page. [2]
Future
- The Beta Features tool is now available on Commons and Meta-Wiki. With it, you can test new features before they're added for everyone. The plan is to add this tool to all wikis on November 21. [3]
- MediaWiki 1.23wmf3 was added to test wikis on November 7. It will arrive to non-Wikipedia wikis on November 12 and all Wikipedia wikis on November 14 (calendar). [4]
- The MassMessage tool will be added to all wikis on November 14. It will make it simpler to send messages across wikis. [5]
- The button of the Search page will soon be changed to be blue and bigger (see the difference). [6]
- You will soon be able to add a page name as parameter for
{{REVISIONID}}
,{{REVISIONUSER}}
and{{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}}
and similar functions, by writing for example{{REVISIONID:Apple}}
. [7] - In the future, when you hide a CentralNotice banner on a wiki, it will also be hidden on other Wikimedia sites. [8]

Brownie for accepting two articles in the special AFC weeklong unofficial "acceptance" drive
Mdann52 has given you a brownie! Brownies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a brownie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. This brownie is your reward for accepting two articles, Hof International Film Festival and William F. Banholzer, as part of the special unofficial 1-week mini-drive for ACCEPTING articles at WikiProject:Articles for creation. Oblivion (roller coaster) Good Article Review
Hi Mdann52, Firstly I'd like to apologize for taking longer than 7 days to come back after placing it on hold. However, you have made the fixes I felt were needed as well as many raised by others. While some weren't addressed, I felt these weren't appropriate to prevent GA (if it were an FA nomination, then they may have been) and I'm happy to tell you that I have granted the article Good Article status.
All the best and I hope to see the article up for FA in the not to distant future.

proposed deletion Heinsdorff
Could you please specify your concerns? Actually this is a transformation of the German Wikipedia page of the internationally renown artist Markus Heinsdorff. If you have any specific suggestions of improvement please let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andreas.zei (talk • contribs) 08:49, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- Phrases such as "Besides the material bamboo his work is dedicated to the element water" are puffery, and should be removed. The rules on the German Wikipedia are different to the ones on here, so an article on other Wikipedia's are not always suitable for here. --Mdann52talk to me! 11:04, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the cleanup. Unfortunately, I just tried the same basic edit (with a couple of additions) and the problem of losing all the footnotes still persists. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:20, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- When I edited your page, the edit history says that this was minus 24,000 bites! I added bites, and did not delete them. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:42, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- And viewing the edits, you really did lose data. I don't know how or why. I didn't do it, but I wanted you to know. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:44, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Problems
- There was a problem caused by too many requests to the database on November 14. [11]
Future
- MediaWiki 1.23wmf4 was added to test wikis on November 14. It will arrive to non-Wikipedia wikis on November 19 and all Wikipedia wikis on November 21 (calendar).
- The new Search tool (CirrusSearch) will be added to
*.wikimedia.org
, Wikimania and Wikisource wikis on November 19, and Wiktionary wikis on November 21 (except where it's already available). Once it is added, you can test it by adding&srbackend=CirrusSearch
to the address of the search results page. It will become the main search engine on Wikivoyage wikis on November 21. [12] - The MassMessage tool will be added to all wikis on November 19 instead of November 14. It will make it simpler to send messages across wikis. [13]

Closure of Rothbard Photo talk page thread
Hello Mdann52. I believe that the thread on which closure was sought was this section: [14] in which there is a poll and discussion of the elderly vs. younger photo. Could you please address that question, so that we can get closure on this issue? Thanks. SPECIFICO talk 14:43, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Done Sorry, missed this; I meant to go back to it, but had to change computers and forgot to do it... --Mdann52talk to me! 15:06, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, not to spend too much time on a photo, but I only see 4 for keeping the old man shot in the infobox, 4 for the younger photo in the infobox. It's hard to see consensus for the old man photo in the infobox, and at any rate the consensus wouldn't need to follow a vote count. Thanks. SPECIFICO talk 15:41, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Your recent edit to Yahoo! Mail
You recently did this edit with a summary including the word "vandalism". It was a partial revert of this earlier edit. The earlier edit, although not explained, appears to me to be an attempt to follow MOS guidance, specifically Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trademarks. The category changes are incorrect, unless the cats are renamed, but it wasn't mere vandalism. DES (talk) 15:56, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Ok; I misread the diff when I looked at it. I will leave a correcting summary ASAP. --Mdann52talk to me! 17:10, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
