Bogus word?

昭和初期(1930年代前半)に流行した小市民(すなわち安サラリーマン)の生活と生活感情を描く日本映画の一傾向とその作品群の総称。欧米の日本映画研究書ではShomingeki(庶民劇)とされ,〈下級中産階級の人々の生活を描いた映画〉と説明されている。小津安二郎監督の《東京の合唱》(1931),《生れてはみたけれど》(1932)を頂点に,倉田文人監督《小市民》(1932),成瀬巳喜男監督《夜ごとの夢》(1933),島津保次郎監督《隣の八重ちゃん》(1934),五所平之助監督《生きとし生けるもの》(1934),《人生のお荷物》(1935),内田吐夢監督《限りなき前進》(1937)等々,サイレントからトーキーにかけての諸作品がこの系譜の代表作として挙げられる。・・・

My translation: Western scholars of Japanese film call them "Shomingeki"...
