Kushal Tandon (born 28 March 1985)[2][3] is an Indian model turned actor. He played Virat Singh Vadhera in the television series Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai [1] and was the first runner-up of Grasim Mr. India contest held in January 2005.[4]

Career

Tandon started modeling in 2003 and he became the first runner up in Grasim Mr. India contest in 2005. He has worked on many ads with big brands such as Sony Ericsson, Skoda Activia, Airtel, Dairy Milk, Eva Deodorant, Reid & Taylor, Kawasaki, Bajaj. Kushal has also walked the ramp for lot several fashion shows including brands like Provogue, Spykar, Giodarna and also Lakme Fashion Weekin Mumbai[5]

He went to the United States to study in the New York Film Academy in 2010. After his return, he started his acting career with Star Plus's daily show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. Tandon participated in Nach Baliye 5 along with Elena Boeva. He was rated #6 in the Eastern Eye UK magazine's 50 Sexiest Asian Man 2012.[6][7]

Upon return from USA after his acting course, he was offered the role of Virat Singh Vadhera in the show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. During the show he cut off his hair for his character Virat who does the act in the show to show his support for a bald young Cancer patient.[8] His initiative to shed his lustrous mane for the cause of spreading awareness was applauded by all the TV industry and his supporters including Hrithik Roshan's sister Sunaina Roshan.[9]

Tandon participated in the seventh season of the reality television show, Bigg Boss.[10] Viewers signed petitions to return Tandon to the show.[11]

Personal life

Tandon was born to Sandhya Tandon and Billu Tandon. His father owns a transport and oil business and is president of the Transport union in Uttar Pradesh.[12][13] He has two older sisters Tina Bhushan and Bhavana Tandon Kapoor. He did his schooling from Scindia School and then joined the college at Hans Raj College in Delhi University.[14]
