Poorly Written

Am I the only one who finds this to be poorly written? Information is all over the place and incoherent and certainly not chronological.

Discussion

this video sharing site is a rival good enough to take on youtube over the video sharing market in China Pyromania153 (talk) 17:04, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm by no means a master of the English language but I've provided a very rough and basic overview of the website.

Creating Year

I think I found an error; In the table on the right it says 2005, and in the text under history it says 2006 is the launching year of the website. What's the correct year? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.74.168.104 (talk) 12:33, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the problem is now fixed! Pyromania153 (talk) 17:03, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regional Blocks

They appear to be blocking U.S. visitors from seeing some of their videos now. Someone add this please? More info here: http://forum.surfthechannel.com/index.php?showtopic=9301&st=20 69.151.209.136 (talk) 05:53, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just that my connection is bad?

Takes a lot for any movie to load. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.118.182.5 (talk) 20:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Banned?

Many videos from Youku do not play. There is a message "This clip has been blocked in your region". Does Youku employ special bans on video streams to USA?

I don't know about China, but in the western world, TV content distribution is often licensed by region. For example, hulu.com (which airs content licensed by the major TV networks NBC, ABC, CBS, etc.) blocks viewers outside of the USA. Thus, perhaps youku's distribution agreements require them to limit viewership to certain localities (like SE Asia.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.109.199.114 (talk) 16:27, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pun?

Is this a pun of Youtube? Someone told me it is--24.151.23.145 (talk) 20:28, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Unfortunately, Youku is now unavailable to many US viewers." - Whether or not, the described page is showing videos without a proper license, thus inflicting a heavy damage upon the movie and television industries world wide, I still think there should not be any judgement about that fact in the Wikipedia itself. I propose to cut out the "unfortunately". Ninjason (talk) 17:06, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
