Sunetra Sarker (born 25 June 1973 in Liverpool, Lancashire) is an English actress. She is best known for her role as Dr Zoe Hanna in BBC's Casualty.
Early life
Sarker's father is a doctor.[1] In September 2014 Sarker revealled that, while she was growing up, her mother had been an Indian dancer.[2]
Education
Sarker has a degree in Information Systems for Business with French from Brunel University.[3]
Career
Sarker has played a wide variety of roles in her career. Her initial success came when she was cast as Nisha Batra in the Channel 4 soap opera Brookside from 1988 to 1990 and then returned in 2000 until 2003.[4]
Sarker also starred in the short-lived regional soap London Bridge. This was followed by one of her biggest roles as Anji Mittel in No Angels from 2004 to 2006.[5]
Sarker's next large role was playing the part of Clare Burns in the BBC drama The Chase[6] until the show was pulled after its second series. She then was cast on BBC's Casualty as Dr Zoe Hanna.[7]
In 2007, Sarker was a contestant on cooking show Celebrity MasterChef.
In 2009, Sarker provided the voiceover for the new Liverpool One shopping centre advertisements.
On 19 April 2014, Sarker appeared as a contestant on the game show Pointless Celebrities with Ian Bleasdale, who played paramedic Josh Griffiths for eighteen years.[8]
On 7 May 2014, Sarker and her son Noah appeared on Big Star's Little Star.[9]
On 23 August 2014 it was announced that Sarker would be competing in the forthcoming twelfth series of Strictly Come Dancing that will be broadcast from September 2014.[10]
Personal life
Sarker has one child, Noah, and is currently in a relationship.[citation needed]
