Jim Olmedo "Jimmy" Alapag (born December 30, 1977) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters in the Philippine Basketball Association. He was named the 2003 PBA Rookie of the Year, where he led the Phone Pals to the All-Filipino Championship. Also known by his nickname, The Mighty Mouse because of his small size but having a big and mighty heart in the game. Jimmy Alapag is currently in 3rd place on PBA All Time Most 3-Pointers made and 7th place in PBA All Time Most Assists Leaders but 1st in the active players with the same categories. Jimmy Alapag is probably one of the best point guards in the league and captain of his own squad Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters and also the Philippine Team or Gilas Pilipinas.

A perennial member of the Philippine national basketball team, he stands 5 foot 9 inches tall.

2003 First Season

Alapag was selected 10th overall pick in 2003 by Talk 'N Text Phone Pals and was considered the "steal of the draft" in that year. Later on, Alapag formed a dynamic duo with the behemoth and giant Asi Taulava, to lead the phone pals into the All-Filipino Cup Championship and beating the Coca Cola Tigers in the finals. The Talk 'N Text overcame the 0-2 deficit of the Tigers by winning 4 straight and capture its first ever title. Asi Taulava was named Best Player of the Conference and the Finals MVP while, Jimmy Alapag won the rookie of the year by a huge margin averaging 14.5 points, 7.02 assists and 6.54 rebounds per outing while shooting a decent clip of 35.4 percent from the three-point region.

2004-2005 Season

In the 2004-2005 season, Alapag continued his remarkable play to win his second mythical first team selection and co-MVP honors with teammate Taulava in the All-Star Game held in Cebu. He also led the Phone Pals into two straight Finals appearance but fail to win another championships against the Barangay Ginebra Kings on Philippine Cup and San Miguel Beermen on Fiesta Conference.

2008-2011 Seasons

In the 2008-2009 Philippine Cup Championship, the Talk 'N Text defeated the Alaska Aces in a grueling Game 7 Match. In the 2010-2011 Philippine Cup, The Talk 'N Text made it to the Finals beating the San Miguel Beermen with the 4-2 standings, as Jimmy Alapag grabbed the Finals MVP with Jayson Castro. In the next season, Jimmy Alapag won the Best Player of the Conference and as Talk 'N Text made it again in the 2010-2011 Commissioner's Cup finals beating the heavily favored team, Barangay Ginebra Kings to won their fourth and back to back championship with the same Finals MVP Jimmy Alapag and with Jayson Castro. Jimmy and the Talk 'N Text made it again in the 2011 Governors' Cup Finals for the 3rd straight but lose to the Petron Blaze Boosters in a Game 7 match however, Jimmy Alapag captured the Season MVP beating Arwind Santos and Mark Caguioa in the MVP race.

2011-Present

In 2011-2012 Philippine Cup Season, the Talk 'N Text are down 1-3 in the standings against the team who beat them last year, Petron Blaze Boosters but in turn of events, Talk 'N Text made an epic comeback fueled by their team captain Jimmy Alapag to won the series and later on as they defeated the Powerade Tigers in the Finals and successfully defend the Philippine Cup, four games to one. In 2011-2012 Commissioner's Cup, Talk 'N Text made it again in the Finals against the B-meg Derby Ace Llamados however, even with Alapag's 29 points still not enough to beat them in game 7. In the 2012-2013 Philippine Cup the Talk 'N Text and Jimmy Alapag is back on Track as they successfully swept the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and retain the Philippine Cup for the 3rd time. As the Talk 'N Text achieved the third All-Filipino Cup they also made history, the All-Filipino Grand Slam Title(2010-2011,2011-2012,2012-2013).

Playing Style

Alapag is known for his lethal 3 pointers way beyond from the arc, excellent passing and play making ability, and an intelligent decision making in the game, especially in the last dying seconds on the clock. Despite his small size, Alapag takes advantage of his speed and agility to break down his defender and pass it on his teammate or score by the lay-up.

Personal life

Jimmy's parents are Filipino immigrants Crispin and Aurora Alapag. He's the youngest of six siblings. He considers his father and elder brother Crispin Jr. as his greatest influence in basketball.

He is currently married to Filipina actress LJ Moreno.
