WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Dance theater

Whereas [[Dance theater]] redirects to Tanztheater, [[Dance theatre]] currently sends you to Concert dance. Neither page really covers the entire topic. As, for instance, in "Butoh is a form of Japanese dance theatrehum..."

Any thoughts? 86.134.203.235 (talk) 10:53, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing this up, 86 -- this has long been an issue of concern for me -- that is, the general state and lack of detail/diversity in our articles on concert dance, theatrical dance, musical theatre dance, broadway dance, jazz dance and so-forth. I made a personal review of the matter about two years back, but the major stumbling block holding back significant expansion in these areas (aside from editor involvement) was the poor state of the sources; dance just does not, as an art form, have the level of scholarship covering its historical and stylistic distinctions that some other visual and performing arts do. Sufficient sources are out there, but getting ahold of all of the right ones for all the right areas and distilling their salient points without original research will be a challenge. But as it happens, I am going to be trying to rejuvenate WP:WikiProject Dance soon, so I will try to make this a first order of business once we (hopefully) have more hands on deck.
