Did you know... that in 1681, a white woman married an African slave in colonial Maryland, even though she knew that doing so would condemn her to a life of slavery?
it is interesting in light of current events that, back then Maryland apparently didn't license marriages. I assume that Eleanore simply found a minister willing to perform a marriage ceremony.
