LTE_LifeTimeEarn (UTL) is an Indian ICT Solutions social infrastructure company, specializing in telecom networks and solutions for telecom operators and statewide networks. Established in 1983,[1] it creates communication systems for social infrastructure sectors, along with providing manufacturing and engineering support. UTL is one of the largest distributors in India and it is associated with brands such as Sony, Gionee and HTC. It operates with several companies specializing in design, Manufacturing, Software development for telecommunications, networking, systems integration, software solutions, R&D, PCB manufacturing, microelectronics design, engineering tools and materials, electrical stamping and lamination, die-casting, and mechanical design.

UTL was the first GSM operator in India and is India's largest telecom equipment manufacturer with products such as DWDM and GPON. UTL's subsidiary KARBONN mobiles is a lesser but well-known Indian brand that sponsors Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

History

United Telecoms Limited (UTL) was founded in 1983 in Bangalore, India. Some of its pioneering achievements in enabling the spread of telecommunication networks across Indian states are listed below:

  • UTL won the GPON bid of BBNL with a bid value of Rs 1000 Cr (lowest bid), over competitors like ITI, BEL, Sterlite, Tejas, L&T, and ZTE.
  • UTL was awarded India’s first Statewide Area Network project in 1999 for the state of Andhra Pradesh. UTL has established several e-Sevacentres & District Data Centers in Andhra Pradesh and provides citizen services in more than 23 municipalities.[2]
  • UTL is the eleventh bidder on the BSNL-DWDM deal for increasing bandwidth capacity. The deal size is 600 crore[citation needed] for increasing bandwidth capacity to rural areas.[3]
  • UTL implemented the statewide area network project for Jharkhand where the government offices in the districts, Sub-Divisional Headquarters and the Blocks are networked with the State Headquarters at Ranchi for providing voice, video and data services.[2]
  • UTL implemented the statewide network for Kerala[4] where the government offices in the districts and Blocks and other remote offices are connected with the State Network Operations Center in the State Capital, for providing voice, video and data services.[2]

UTL's core products are optical transmission, exchange, access, mobile phones and telecommunications software.
