Thank you so much for your help, though I have a few more questions if you don't mind.
  1. I really want to join the Food and Drinks Project, but I don't know how to add myself to the list.
  2. I've seen all these different boxes with people's opinions like "so and so does this" and I don't know how to get them or where to find them.
  3. What is a sandbox?
  4. How do I create a page?
  5. Whenever I add my name to lists using the User name (talk · contribs) format, everyone else's turns blue to show that they're a link, but mine just stays black, and it's starting to bother me, what am I doing wrong?
  6. Why are there so few WikiOtters, and why whenever I try to find others are their pages all blocked?
  7. What is puppeting and why do you get in trouble for it on here?
Hello, I've just seen the message you left on my talk page, so I'll reply here since you have more questions.
  1. Go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink/Members/participants and follow the instructions at the top of the page.
  2. These are called userboxes and you can find a list of them by clicking here.
  3. The sandbox is a page provided to experiment with the process of editing Wikipedia pages without actually editing a real page and potentially doing something wrong because you're not sure how to edit or you just want to test something.
  4. I recommend that you use the article wizard for creating your first page. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully.
  5. If you're talking about this then your name is red because you haven't created your user page yet. Click the red link and write something and maybe add a few userboxes, then the link will turn blue like everyone else.
  6. Wikipedia:WikiOtter appears to be more of a humorous page and not very well known, which probably explains why there's not many members.
  7. Sock puppeting is the use of multiple Wikipedia user accounts for an improper purpose, like vandalism or block evasion. You can read more about it here.
I hope that answered all of your questions but if you have any more please do not hesitate to ask. Puffin Let's talk! 22:30, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Thank you so much for your help! Everyone has been so nice, and to think that I used to believe that Wikipedia was just a few people who put stuff online. It's so much more organized than that, and I'm really proud to be a part of it!

I can answer at least one question: you can create pages by searching for the page and click the hyperlink of the redlinked page search. For example, if I want to create "Clock worm" (it doesn't really exist) then search for "clock worm" and then click on that red hyperlink saying "clock worm", then create your article. (But don't try "clock worm") Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 08:54, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What do I do if no sources or citations exist?

You sent me a message earlier and said I could talk to you. I added "some" citations to the article (Contract wars - Draft), are those acceptable?

I wrote for wikia for a long time, most of the weapons pages on the Elder Scrolls Skyrim Wikia I am responsible for - citations were simply the game itself. Linking to the game itself for info is not really suitable though right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyber demigod (talkcontribs) 23:13, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Cyber Demigod: That looks like sufficient references to me, but just in case, I would wait a day or two for it to be further reviewed, before you add any more edits to the page. Thank you for asking! BluJay (talk) 01:36, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox info

I'm just copying and pasting everything again:

@BluJay: Hello there! I'm not very good at explaining things, so I'll just list off some things you might want to take a look at.
I mostly looked on WP:UBX for the basic syntax for my userboxes, as well as what each of the parameters do. (For the section that contains the wikicode I used, on the same page: Wikipedia:Userboxes#Constructing_a_userbox.) My custom userboxes pretty much follow the same syntax; they just have different images and text.
To customize your userboxes' colors, you can find a list of colors just by searching for "list of colors" or starting with List of colors: A-F, from where you can also choose other lists of colors from the "See also" section right under the title.
For the pictures, you can look in the Wikimedia Commons for those, as long as the image you want is free. (I mostly chose images already used in Wikipedia articles, since I assumed that they didn't violate Wikipedia policy. You might want to review Wikipedia's policy on images if you're unsure about an image, since I'm not too familiar with image usage.)
I should also tell you that two of my userboxes actually came from templates others had made; they are found on Template:User_oops and Template:User_Wikipedian_for. (The latter of these I cannot make myself; I don't know how to code that.) In case you don't want to make your own boxes, you can look in WP:UBXG (which contains different categories of boxes) and/or WP:UBX/UBX. Some Wikipedians will also make userboxes for you if you ask them; there's a list at the end of WP:UBX, but I'm not sure how accurate or complete that list is.
That's all I can think of right now. Hope this answer makes sense, and that it isn't too long. If you have any questions, you can always go to the Teahouse to ask, since there are probably other users who are much better at explaining things (or give better advice). Good luck!

There you go! CabbagePotato (talk) 23:42, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving

Here are some possible settings to get your talk page archived:

{{User:MiszaBot/config
| algo = old(672h)
| archive = User talk:/Archive/%(year)d %(monthname)s
| minthreadstoarchive=1
| minthreadsleft =8
}}

Just paste them at the top of your talk page. This will archive anything older than 28 days, provided it leaves at least 8 threads on your talk-page. Of course you can play with the parameters as much as you like. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 14:47, 2 July 2015 (UTC).[reply]
