Born For You is an upcoming Philippine romance drama series directed by Dan Villegas and Onat Diaz, starring Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona.[1][2][3] The series is produced by Dreamscape Entertainment Television in association with ABS-CBN.[4][5][6]

The concept is based on the Japanese belief on red string of fate. The story revolves around two teenagers whose both red strings of fate are connected to each other, binding them together.

Filming will begin on January 2016 and slated to air in the same year.[7]

Production

The television series was announced on November 26, 2015 right after Elmo Magalona signed a 2-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN. The same day, Janella Salvador was cast in the female lead role.[8] Acting workshops were held the following days for Magalona and Salvador to "break the ice", form their "chemistry", and get comfortable with each other.[9] Dan Villegas was then hired to direct.[10]

The story conference was held on December 19, 2015. Onat Diaz was hired to direct and actors for the other roles were cast.

Casting

It was first speculated that Enchong Dee was originally cast for the male lead role alongside Salvador and Joshua Garcia right after their appearance together in ABS-CBN's 2015 Christmas Station ID music video.[11] This speculation was neither confirmed nor debunked by the production team.

In December 2015, Vina Morales, Ariel Rivera, Gina Pareno, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Freddie Webb, Ogie Diaz, Smokey Manaloto, Katya Santos, Neil Coleta, and Joshua Garcia were cast.
