Laneige (Hangul: 라네즈) is a South Korean cosmetics brand owned by Amore Pacific.[1]
Laneige was created by Amore Pacific in 1994.[2] The brand name comes from La Neige which means Snow in French.[3]
History
Amore Pacific, the largest cosmetics company in South Korea, founded Laneige in 1994.[4]
In 2002, the first international stores of Laneige were opened in Hong Kong and China.[5] After opening over 200 stores in eight Asian countries, Laneige advances to Europe by opening its first store in Moscow, Russia.[6] Laneige now has stores in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Philippines, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States.
Since 2007, Laneige has expanded its lines of products and services: the Laneige Premium Makeup Line [7], and Laneige Homme, a cosmetic brand for gentlemen.[8]
Laneige is an international skincare brand that provides with a sustainable water-supplied technique, the Advanced Water Science. [9]
Products
Laneige makes skin care products. Ingredients include magnesium, manganese, and zinc. Ingredients include truffle yeast and green tea extracts, which come from natural sources. Ingredients include salicylic acid, keratinase, ghassoul (clay), and melia bark extract.
Makeup
BB Cushion is a Korean stamp container type of multi-functional BB creams, which is a 5-in-1 product, including wide spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen, mineral water, color correction, and BB cream. The AP invents this stamp-oriented container to make practical and effective use of the moisture-inclusive BB creams. It is known that its design is inspired by the technology of Korean stamp sponges. Such creamy cushion sponges help the ingredients of the BB Cushion to be absorbed into skin, leaving out a thin and protective tissue on the outer side of skin. This product is available in three colors in Laneige shops.
Spokespersons and models
In March 2004, actress Jun Ji-hyun was selected as the new model of Laneige.[10]
In January 2008, Song Hye-kyo became an endorser of Laneige.[11]
