Sorry about that. I had clicked on the word state, and then accidentally clicked on the link button. I clicked 'done' to get rid of the box that had popped up, but didn't realise that that would make a link. It won't happen again! TheIrishJJ

Asansol - City of Brotherhood

Thank you for your message. It is true that there is no online reference as to Asansol been called "City of Brotherhood" but the mayor of the corporation has recently named Asansol as the City of Brotherhood and this has been mentioned at the entrance gate to the old city area. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.251.83.58 (talkcontribs) 05:49, 17 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation of actions

Hello, sorry to bother you, but I would like to clarify a few things about this edit of mine, which you reverted. If you look carefully at the titles of the citations, you will see that the links were duplicated (placed in the title section), and another accessdate has been given. I was trying to remove the duplicate urls and accessdates from the title (I left the url=, date/year, and title text untouched). I haven't deleted any citations outright (if I have, please tell me and I'll go away). If you don't mind, I'd like to ask for permission to revert your reversion. Have a nice rest of your day!

can you check other news link about Sumchit Anand??

Hi, it is nice that you edited my article, but have you checked that url, as its information about latest news including sumchit anand. It is not for promotion but for reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pay9891 (talkcontribs) 09:30, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Pay9891: It is a draft, so I restored it. I don't think that will get past the reviewer. That is becoming a WP:LINKFARM. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 10:02, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

no these links are news links, i have mentioned news headlines here, just put all news in another format. Please tell can i need to add news headlines here instead of Business news date format.

I have seen many profile which does not include even right source url, most of page not error on wiki, it is not all about promotion at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pay9891 (talkcontribs) 10:12, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Pay9891: I'm not saying they are promotion, I'm saying they are link farm. See WP:LINKFARM I would suggest looking at other articles on companies. You probably won't find a large list of news articles. Jim1138 (talk) 10:46, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources

Hello, I'm Raviteja0112. I am not understanding wikipedia policies?,you deleted all my changes because you told i don't have reliable source but none of the movie plots have reliable sources then why didn't you delete them can you please explain it to me . you can leave me a message with details on my talk page. Thanks.Raviteja0112 (talk) 10:44, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Raviteja0112: Wikipedia needs to be wp:verifiable Please wp:cite wp:reliable sources for significant information. Just because someone ignores the policy doesn't mean everyone can ignore wp:policy. Do two wrongs make a right? Jim1138 (talk) 10:50, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

just tell me do you watch movies. If you watch movies tell me how can we cite a source for a movie plot.Raviteja0112 (talk) 11:14, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Raviteja0112: The edits that I reverted of yours are not plots, they seems to be your opinion or are unsourced information about the film, not the plot.
  • Your edit here to Hitch has a conclusion that appears to be your own. That would be considered wp:original research. Please do not add your own opinion to articles.
  • Your edit here to Kill Bill does not discuss plot. It adds information which is not from the film. i.e. unsourced.
  • Your edit here to Kill Bill adds citations for that information. Sourced. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 11:23, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Radical Feminism

Hey! I got your message about reverting my edit on the radical feminism page. The intent of the multiple sources there was to show that it's a term that's used in multiple places to show that it's a popular way to refer to that group. If there's a better way to do this please let me know!

(Also I wasn't sure if you'd get this if I replied on my own talk page, I hope this is okay.)Moira98 (talk) 05:00, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

hi my name is atara, i saw you changed/deleted my edit of the "shach", Shabtai HaKohen page just now - the source is a little known book called otzar ma'asit , or something, its in hebrew , Shabtai HaKohen had a daughter named esther, with the wife who died (her name is miriam ) who became royalty. that change, is the whole story i got in english off some blog - i tend to believe this story because i'm a descendant of rabbi moshe isserlis and any connection is true. if you can do me a favor - rewrite it so it is appropriate for wikipedia research this is the blog link : http://dreamingofmoshiach.blogspot.co.il/2006/11/esther-lost-daughter-of-shach.html, another version : https://www.ou.org/life/history/daughter_of_shach1/ i'm very interested in finding out if this story is historically accurate, if there is indeed a true factual basis to this story , and which king of poland and princess maria this is connected to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.86.111.107 (talk) 23:09, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NFL Network and CBS partnership broke off for 2016

CBS contract with Thursday Night Football expired.

Sorry that wasn't me, my computer was taken by a friend who edited the page, will not happen again.

I removed the specific section because it does not have any source to support its veracity. Even if one searches on it, no news or articles would appear. So, my edit is not a mistake.

Aliwuswos (talk) 08:47, 1 January 2016 (UTC) @Aliwuswos: OK. However, the citation does appear to be part of the arrests at the first part of the paragraph. So, the citation should probably be left intact. Please remember to leave an wp:edit summary. Especially if adding or removing significant content! You reverted my change

You reverted a change that I made to the Humorous Units of Measure page. You claimed that the edit did not seem "constructive" to you. Please reconsider. You are elevating your subjective opinion about what is "constructive" over what is true.

No one will read this article because they are interested in what you consider constructive. They may, however, read it because they are interested in the tone of the Hacker Culture that created that unit of measure. It is a perfect example of the impertinent irreverence that Richard M. Stallman defined a hack as being: an instance of "playful cleverness" (would you like a reference, assuming that you know who RMS is? Surely an authority on hacker culture...) and that pervades the culture, even today. For that reason, the edit is more than just constructive, it improves the article significantly.

Asserting that the unit of measure is named after Ada Lovelace really just makes you seem like 1) culturally ignorant for not "getting" the obvious references, 2) trying to censor the article even when there are already WP entries for Linda Lovelace and her most famous role, or 1) and 2) together.

I'm hoping that you will reconsider because you doing this completely destroys the image that WP is a community that we can all improve together in a way that is democratic. That's why I support you guys financially and took the time to improve an article. Ddade (talk) 10:00, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ddade: Is it named after Linda Lovelace (seems likely), Ada Lovelace, or someone else? Please wp:cite a wp:reliable source. Otherwise it is wp:synth or wp:original research / personal opinion. I left it just "Lovelace", no Ada nor Linda. Jim1138 (talk) 10:26, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Branigan was born 1952.

Hi there,

would like to get in contact with you about Laura Branigan's wikipedia. But I am only interesting in emails. I have been so badly treated by contributors, so I prefer my way.

I hope you will answer me, so we can discuss the design of Laura's references, links, sources, etc. For me it is very strange wiki are keeping sources which are outdated, the writers I have been in contact with, they all said they never met Laura. I have asked them to re-write their wrongs, but they all deny it. New York Post had a story about it in August where they wrote Laura was 52, not 47 when she died. My new Pinterest https://www.pinterest.com/born53/pins/

Looking forward for a nice and calm discussion without threats of warnings. I am already banned, blocked, etc, by wikipedia, the admins of Laura's fansites, etc. The reason why I am blocked is simple...I told the truth about Laura Branigan. She was born July 3, 1952 in Armonk, Town of North Castle.

My email...born53@gmail.com. I have no problems with my name or anything else. I am a true fan who doesn't need hiding behind avatars and nicknames.

Best greetings from Sweden Stig-Åke Persson.

If you are writing to me, there is a time zone. Sweden is 6 h ahead of New York--Born53 swe (talk) 19:17, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Born53 swe: Hi there, I'm really not good at making sense of that sort of stuff. So, I decline your request. I would recommend that you ask at the wp:teahouse. There, you should find a more open ear than on the articles or article talk.
I might suggest you put your sources on a page in your user space. User:Born53 swe That way you can refer to them. The Pinterest link I don't think is acceptable on the article, see wp:elno #11. If, on your user page, you were to break it down into a number of {{cite web}}, {{cite news}}, {{cite magazine}}, {{cite journal}} references. As a list of newspaper articles, magazine articles, tv shows, etc. that mentioned her birth date. Add all the information necessary to locate that article/show. The publisher, date, time, page, author, url, etc. But, ask at the Teahouse first. Hope this helps. Jim1138 (talk) 21:59, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

But you used really hard words against my friend who tries to help me in my research. He is my ghostwriter in US. Why did you banned him? And why are wikipedia still using reference that are outdated? New York Times from 2004 is so wrong it can be. And IMDb are correct, though it was from me they made their changes. Billboard, AllMusic and AllMovie denies all kind of contact. They know they are wrong, but silence is their best friend. Anyway, if you can't help me you could at least apologize to my friend. He is completely right. I have seen the emails Goliks has sent, and that is no kind words. Believe me!--Born53 swe (talk) 23:17, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Born53 swe: I am not an administrator and can not wp:ban nor wp:block anyone. I can request that an admin block someone, but the admin usually checks that I have correctly followed procedures. See WP:BEFOREBLOCK. I do make errors, but I am quite willing to put in extra work to remedy the situation. I often use a program called wp:huggle which aids me in reverting vandalism, unsourced information, and other disruptive content. Huggle allows me to undo an edit and send the editor a warning template. The warning levels are increased until the fifth time when a message is sent to an administrator board requesting a block. Nasty vandals typically get reported and blocked more quickly. Blocks are usually 24 hours the first time but will increase until a permanent block is imposed.
Who are you referring to? If s/he was blocked, it would be for repeatedly ignoring warnings. The warnings should contain enough information for your friend to avoid repeating the action.
I want Laura Branigan's article to be correct, but it has to be sourced. Having lots of information and not knowing if it is accurate or not is a major issue. Referring to editors other than yourself, I am told often by editors that some piece of information is correct, but it seems wrong and googling the information does not support that person in any way. I.e. it would seem they are intentionally feeding me nonsense. Another common, but relevant issue is that people are constantly changing someone's birth date when that day has multiple sources stating otherwise. This kind of vandalism happens so often that it can be a full time job for multiple people. These people are referred to as wp:recent changes patrol (RCP). It seems that when many see a birthdate change without any wp:edit summary, it often assumed to be vandalism.
Regarding outdated information. The New York Times is considered very reputable. That does not mean they are infallible by any means. But, to consider them in error, contradicting sources probably need to be many and of good quality. It seems that you are having an effect. Branigan's page now shows 1952 and some attempts to change it to 1957 have been undone. IMDB and Find-a-grave list 1952. BTW: I added a link to her Find-a-grave listing.
Personally, I have other things that I consider important and don't want to spend much time on Branigan. I would like to her article correct, but I am going to leave the job for you. There are many other articles in far more need of correction. Please ask at the wp:Teahouse for advise. I do wish you success in your endeavors here. On my page????

How is that right??? It's not me, it's the facts on a page that are not there or "there" but not easy to find. Your dealing with a world looking for information in a simplistic quick way. The patent number on the actual page for Fly-by-wire along with inventor should be a give not a treasure hunt........ Nicvanschaick (talk) 22:22, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nicvanschaick: You edited fly-by-wire and did mess up the article. Your attitude does not encourage my wanting to assist you. Yes i made this edit. IM abroad. We need to market the province for investment..please dont put history that i and we personally share amongst us. BUt to the outside world this is not relevant. Please consider reverting it back to the simple and sweet structure i put in place. TO be be frank naama thamilargal. I know historical stuff is important. BUt people who are interested in history should be able to find it out online not on wiki where its got to be simple and sweet. I dont want this place to talk aboit crimes and stuff like that. there is another page for that..please share my concerns

Re: Escape from Tomorrow?

Hello! You undid my edits to the Escape from Tomorrow article, citing quote "Unexplained removal of content (HG) (3.1.18))". However, my edits, which undid those of the previous user, DID provide a reason for the removal, or rather, the restoration: Previous user undid a previous revisit, calling criticism (under the header of Reception) of the film a 'troll review'. I said as much in the edit itself; while I think the edit needed additional cleaning up in hindsight, I still think it's more than valid on that page, and I would like to discuss how best to do so. - TMobias (talk) 09:16, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

answer for your inquiries

Dear Jim

I well received your message. I think the function of Wiki is to spread and share right knowledge worldwide. I think the part of controversy is not objective. I knew a case of lawsuit is true. however the contents( i mean written sentences) is NOT objective because the references are from article. As you know, articles always include personal opinion. i truly agree there are FACT too. but i would like to say, the reference is part of article and some parts are not objective because it is personal thought.

secondly, main part of Pepero page is covered by Controversy. what is the important factor of Wiki page? main contents(explanation, sales volume, # of countries etc) is more important than extra one(lawsuit etc)

and i am preparing for main contents parts now and i will update in a day.

that's the reason why i edit the Controversy part firstly.

i hope this message help you understand what i intend.

best regard,
