Vada or Wada (Marathi: वाडा) is one of the eight talukas of the Palghar district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is one of the most industrialised talukas in Palghar district.

Geography

Wada is located at 19°39′N 73°08′E / 19.65°N 73.13°E / 19.65; 73.13.[1] It has an average elevation of 38 metres (124 feet).

Rivers & Lakes

The main rivers flowing through Wada is the Vaitarna and Pinjal. There are three main lakes in wada town.

Castes

There are many castes live in Wada taluka.Mainly Adivasi, Kunbi, Agri, Koli, Bhanushali, Vaishya Vani, budhist and Sonar.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Wada had a population of 75,291. Males constituted 52% of the population and females 48%. Wada has an average literacy rate of 92%, higher than the national average of 72.5%. In Wada, 12% of the population is under six years of age.

As of 2001 India census, wada taluka had a population of 142,753, with 52.33% males and 47.66% females. Of the total population, 26,566 live in rural areas;[3] at the 2011 Census the population had risen to 178,370. wada is emerging as a new industrial hub with several industrial undertakings and foundries being established recently.

Economy

Agriculture is the main source of income for people of Wada.
