Binibining Pilipinas 2016, the 53rd edition of Binibining Pilipinas, will be held on April 17, 2016 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines.[1] The pageant will crown representatives of the Philippines to compete in the two of the Big Four international beauty pageants: Miss Universe and Miss International, and other international pageants such as Miss Supranational, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Grand International in this edition of the pageant.[5][2][3]

Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015), Janicel Lubina (Miss International 2015 Top 10 Finalist), Rogelie Catacutan (Miss Supranational 2015 Top 20 Semi-Finalist), Christi McGarry (Miss Intercontinental 2015 1st Runner-up), Ann Lorraine Colis (Miss Globe 2015), and Parul Shah (Miss Grand International 2015 3rd Runner-up) will crown their successors at the end of the event.[4][6]

Notes

  • Kim Ross delos Santos (original contestant number 20) was disqualified from the pageant because of a sexy test fashion shoot she did in the past. She was replaced by Geisha Naganuma of Marilao, Bulacan.[9][10]
  • Janelle Olafson (original contestant number 1) was disqualified from the pageant due to her sexy pictorial for a breast cancer awareness campaign in New York City.[11][12] She was replaced by Gail Doraine Ventic of Angeles City, Pampanga.
  • Five (5) of the 40 official candidates selected on the eve of the 12th of February, 2016 namely: Anijer Wiji Cruz, Maria Daziella Gange, Loren Artajos, Marlann Flores, and Tatiana Dolor Maher were disqualified due to height issues. The five (5) were then replaced by five of the remaining 48 of the total 88 aspirants as follows: Candy del Castillo, Karen Ibasco, Niza Sabrina Sophia Limjap, Sarah Christine Bona, and Sissel Ria Rabajante.
