This page is a free speech zone, although I would appreciate courtesy. Do not remove comments of other users, even if you think they could be personal attacks. If they are bad enough, I will take care of them myself.

She's got it wrong

Thewolfstar's attacking you for all the wrong things. It's your vegetarianism that's offensive! (You're made of meat you know - Freud would say its a self-loathing.) Anyway, I think it's about time to protect KingWen's talk page -- any personal attacks you'd like to see removed before I do? —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 20:52, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no! Anyone tries to tell you WP:RPA is policy, you tell them otherwise in a loud voice. It's a disputed guideline. A lot of people, myself included, agree with you that the attacks speak volume more about the attacker than the attacked. (See also Wikipedia talk:Remove personal attacks#Do_not_remove_personal_attacks_directed_to_me.) Anyway, the page is protected. Hope my stupid vegetarianism joke didn't go over like the lead balloon it probably deserved to! —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 21:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is demonstrably true that The Ungovernable Force is made of meat.--Rosicrucian 22:34, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lol, that was funny. Thanks! Ungovernable ForceThe Wiki Kitchen! 22:45, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's one of my favorite plays. I got bored today, so I made a userbox out of it too... --Rosicrucian 22:54, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw that, you're on my watchlist (don't worry, it's not for anything bad). What play is it from? Ungovernable ForceThe Wiki Kitchen! 22:55, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at it again I see it was originally just a short story in OMNI Magazine, but I first saw it as a theatrical production, with two silhouettes reading the lines projected against a screen. I later saw it as a short film which I also liked.--Rosicrucian 23:05, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I remember reading that in high school, I think when it was originally published in OMNI. And I loved it and never forgot it. And, yes, my "you're made of meat" is cribbed right from it. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 15:42, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Rosicrucian, this isn't Nineteen Eighty-Four [1]. Since when did you work for Minitrue? And yes, I'm just joking around. Ungovernable ForceThe Wiki Kitchen! 20:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

and leaving your opinion on my page. I never knew anyone ever read that stuff. Anyway after looking at your view of Truth I can see why the concept i was offering was easy to grasp. Your additions were ones I wish I'd thought of. I see your are an anarchist of sorts, i wonder if it was the picture at Haymarket that got you to me? Life is good. Inedible foods

Hah, yeah MickyD's might go on there, but actually I was thinking foods that are poisonous unless rendered edible by special preparation or are poisonous if eaten in more than minute quantities. Puffer fish would be the classic example, but I'm sure there are others. Maybe I should call it "List of Poisonous Foods", but I kinda like the contradiction. August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Re: Grrrr! How could you?

I wrote a script, that's how! :P It's bundled with the rest of my talk page quickwarn tabs here, and it adds a tab that adds the little template, and saves with an edit summary. I'd be happy to make it standalone from the rest of my tabs, if you'd like. --digital_me(TalkContribs) 20:33, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oooh, shiny

Love the userboxes - namely the police brutality, antifa, and violent resistance ones. Where'd you get them? Would you mind if I borrowed them? Cheers and solidarity. Supersheep 23:45, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shiny! I've put them on my page as userboxes so anyone can use them, with full credit to you of course. Supersheep 09:42, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

anthropology

Well you have me thinking. I took a couple anthro classes in college because I liked the teacher and that was about 1970. I am definately interested in the study of man, but am more used to approaching it from a spiritual perspective rather than a scientific one. In my life i do a lot of shamanic wor for example. More impotantly though, I am engaged in two or three massive wikiprojects that pretty much suck up my wikitime. So . . ..... what was your question again? point me somewhere and I'll check it out. Anthropology wikiproject

I would be very interested in helping out. I have a lot of resources at my university than i can utilize and first hand expeirence if that helps. Just let me know.--Tainter 17:37, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invitation. I have no academic or professional background in anthropology and at present have limited time to devote to individual WikiProjects, so will demur. Nevertheless, I hope I will contribute positively on an informal basis. Best of luck. -choster 17:33, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feminist anthropology and a hello

Hey. That looks like an important and interesting topic. That I unfortunately don't know a lot about. Maybe I could look into it more and help out. A wikiproject would be nice as well. Though I think I have more to learn than to contribute, at this point. I love anthropology, but only ever had time to take three classes in it. Although I guess I know the parts that overlap with sociology pretty well.

I've been kind of stressed out and down lately, so I haven't much felt like doing things on here, except doing busy work when I'm trying to keep from moping. I don't much feel like going into it on here. It seems petty compared to a lot of other things. Though if you did want to talk, you have my email. Owen 21:27, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, apparently I had only authenticated it, but hadn't enabled email from others. Though I suppose I have your address now anyway. Owen 21:39, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm a bit better. Stressed but fine. But let's see how this goes, it's about time it had a project. Owen 21:14, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clyde

It's ok UF, Clyde's just jealous of us friendly Esperanzians. I'll report his comment to AN/I, although I honestly doubt anything will happen since there seems to be a double standard in favor towards "wikipedia policies" when it comes to administrators. Attic Owl 02:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Will do. Best wishes, and good luck while I'm away. --AaronS 02:34, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Proposal

Hi, I am posting this message to everyone who has edited on animal rights or animal welfare related articles in the last couple of months. I have just created a proposal for a WikiProject to help co-ordinate editors on the many articles under the mentioned subjects. If you would like to find out about it or show your support for such a project, please visit User:Localzuk/Animal Rights Proposal and Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects#WikiProject Animal Rights and Welfare. Cheers, Localzuk (talk) 10:39, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, re: Anthro wikiproject?

I am just getting up to talk, it wasnt obvious to me -- but sure, would be happy to help out on anthro pages; not too much time but point me to a page or a question one in a while; will look at the project site too. See youre an anarchist, this is fine; this is --Douglas R. White 21:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC) (Doug)[reply]

reply to your welcome

yea, I'm a newbe and everybody needs a guru -- have the most trouble with talk --> I see your msg on my ID page, and am now replying on yours, it that the way its done? or is there some move that is more direct? == and again -- ok, I set up my user page so people can contact me, I think this talk business is getting clear to me as between user page, discussion page, editing one or the other or someone elses. pretty neat. If this is anarchy, I love it --Douglas R. White 21:54, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Libertarian socialist?

I saw you identify yourself as a libertarian socialist. I think that is a contradiction in terms. Socialism is a top-down phylosophy (it is imposed from the top), and libertarianism is bottom-up (it is supposed to empower the individual). Can you explain your position? :) Dullfig 03:53, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for welcoming me to Esperanza, and I didn't mind at all being welcomed twice.  :) I'm on RL vacation right now but in a few days I'll be able to start helping out a bit. Happy editing! SWAdair 10:52, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Watch page and Redirect question

Finally figured out the watch option thanks, very useful. Question: the term "Social anthropology" redirects to cultural anthropology when it should go to "Social Anthropology." Actually the name "Social Anthropology" should be just "Social anthropology" no caps on second word and THEN the old redirect should from "Social Anthropology" to "Social anthropology." I know how to do a #redirect from scratch but not how to redirect a redirect.... --Douglas R. White 15:06, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfairness and injustice to young editor

Look, Ungovernable Force, I know you are annoyed with me because you believe I'm another user. I'm not, but that is not why I am talking to you now. Do you remember a conversation that was on the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents concerning 3 young editors and whether they should be allowed to edit? They were being attacked because of their young age and it was said that maybe they shouldn't be allowed to edit because they were too young. I respected what you said in defense of these editors. It seems to have been removed now from the archive page. I can't find it now in any case. One of the editors that was discussed was User:Abdullah Geelah He, Abdullah Geelah, just left a message on my page and told me that User:The Anome has vandalized his page. "Hi this user has deleted all the information on my userpage and removed my edit history! go look at my userpage and edit count has dropped from 2000 edits to 1000 no thanks to him I'm really anoyyed especially when i m on holiday they do that he had no permission what so ever.." (Also, before this, User:S-man and User:Cute 1 4 u have been blocked indefinitely. I don't know too much about them or why they were blocked. S-man may have done some vandalism.)

But Abdullah Geelah is a prolific contributor and a great person. He is 13, but so what? If a person contributes to Wikipedia should their age make a difference? He has never done one wrong thing that I know of! According to the post that disappeared, there is a 14 year old bureaucrat on Wikipedia! I come to you because you seem to be a person who fights against wrongdoing, you are familiar with this case and you have experience on Wikipedia. Please help Abdullah even if you don't like me because of some past editor who you think I am. Thanks, Ungovernable Force,

Edukators

I watched this awesome film for the first time today, and went to imdb.com afterwards, as is my wont. according to a discussion thread, the maid at the end speaks in catalan, and the end titles show the satalite island, so i assumed they had gone to barcelona. i like to think the older guy found out her appartment, and it was him that put the note there, and called the rozzers in jest ;) Gareth E Kegg 21:54, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping.

Howdy, I noticed that you and I seem to post in one or two articles dealing with progressive issues in political science/sociology. There's currently a debate beginning in Boston Tea Party as to whether the article should include the category [2]. It meets definitions set in the articles Terrorism and Definition of terrorism, however, there are several self-proclaimed patriots who watch BTP who refuse to recognise the fact. The simple criteria for terrorism generally seem to be intimidation or destruction of property in order to change public policy or public opinion while a state of war has not yet been declared. Some users would rather use recent acts of terrorism as a yardstick, rather than using a firm definition, and hence lose their ability to discuss matters calmly. Would you be able to pop in to the Talk page and join in the discussion? Thanks much, samwaltz 05:02, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi UGF, I've done a temporary replacement of your chosen image (Image:MaskedIcon.jpg) with the one from your userpage. The original was deleted because it was released with non commercial use retrictions. Please change it if you want to. I also just had a quick read of your userpage, very interesting stuff and some good food for thought ... :-) I'll come back and read in more detail later. Cheers. --Cactus.man 09:34, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
