A Gnome Explains

I became a WikiGnome after I found I had misspelt retrieved, as retreived (ei), three times in one article (one mistake, copied & pasted).
I set myself a "penance" of correcting the "ei" versions in Wikipedia articles, but only intended to do the 100 or so misspellings there were at the time
I then adopted "retrieved" (retreived, retrived, retreved) and then added "rhythm” (rhythem, rhythim, rhythym, rhytm, rythem, rythim, rythm & rythym)

I then got carried away, and adopted the Wikipedia:Lists of common misspellings/R - all of it. Don’t do it, it's bad for your health

Broadcasted

The Wiktionary definition of Broadcasted states that the use is proscribed, so it should not be used.
The word also appears on Wikipedia:Lists_of_common_misspellings/B

Broadcasted appears in some dictionaries, but not at all in others, e.g. Chambers which states "Sorry, no entries for Broadcasted were found".
Broadcast appears in all dictionaries, and should be used throughout, as COMMONALITY - "Wikipedia tries to find words that are common to all varieties of English".

A February 2016 search for Broadcast gave over 170,000 uses, compared with a search for broadcasted which gave just 35.
Of these 35, 14 are redirects to "Broadcast" articles, 5 relate to a 1924 cartoon, and the rest are misspellings in quotations etc.

Loyola college

Dear Arjayay, It's not an personal view on my edit of Loyola college

You don't even live in India to know about Loyola college. So please mind your work and don't reverse any of my edits.

It's an humble request Surajvtm (talk) 17:35, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Surajvtm Please do not put new posts in the middle of the page, but at the bottom with a proper header.
Phrases such as "one of the most prestigious institute in India" and "the most sought after institute in south India" are both unencyclopedic and unsourced, and as such have no place in Wikipedia.
Where I live is totally irrelevant, other than that it shows that I do not have any potential conflict of interest and can view your edits from a WP:Neutral point of view.
My warnings on your talk page stand, if you continue to break the NPOV policy you will probably be blocked. - Arjayay (talk) 17:58, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Karachi population

Yoiur correction of the false claim about the population of Karachi was reverted by a sock puppet recently. Do you mind re-fixing it? Cheers--Jpgray (talk) 19:47, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Raj TV

That's a new sock of Jaswanthvijay‎ (talk · contribs · count), there's a boatload of TV series articles to watch for. The last time he was here he created havoc around TV series, cities etc etc. —SpacemanSpiff 15:14, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jadcherla

Are you available right now? I need some info.--Vin09(talk) 10:41, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Vin09 - ask away although I know nothing about Jadcherla - Arjayay (talk) 10:47, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Its not related to the settlement, but multiple IPs are adding content. So, where should I report for that?--Vin09(talk) 10:48, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You could try requests for page protection but looking at the page history, they may not think there has been sufficient disruption (yet)
Some of the additions are sourced (albeit 159 is not always a WP:RS it is cited in lots of articles) - Let's try keeping the sourced information - Arjayay (talk) 10:54, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2016 Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Community Survey

The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has appointed a committee to lead the search for the foundation’s next Executive Director. One of our first tasks is to write the job description of the executive director position, and we are asking for input from the Wikimedia community. Please take a few minutes and complete this survey to help us better understand community and staff expectations for the Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director.

Wrong as Zayn single

Check the album's page, Wrong impacts US radio as the third single on June 7th Source: http://www.allaccess.com/top40-rhythmic/future-releases — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.57.170.190 (talk) 04:04, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We are not talking about "impacting songs" - it is already in the "Other charted songs" list - we are talking physical singles. We need a reference, from a reliable source, to show it has been physically released.
The Mind of Mine article only refers to an earlier version of the same "Impacting songs" article - and Wikipedia articles are not a reliable source - Arjayay (talk) 08:02, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In america, artists dont release physical singles after an album is released, they impact radio since fans can already download them anyway. Like I WOuld is going to US mainstream, while Wrong is going to US rhythmic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.57.170.190 (talk) 05:28, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sir,

I had made some changes on todoopura page and these changes are correct. I am a citizen of this village and Mr. Bharatlal Meena was ex- sarpanch of this village and he was famous person in this jagroti area and he was known for his justice and social works..... Meenaavatar (talk) 13:08, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meenaavatar - your comment appears to relate to a deletion I made to Todoopura about 6 months ago.
Please try to understand that "who" you are, "where" you are from, or what you "know", are all irrelevant when editing a Wikipedia article (unless you are too closely related the subject, in which case you would have a conflict of interest, so should not edit the article at all).
Wikipedia articles should only use information that has already been published in reliable sources, so that information can be verified, i.e. checked by readers at any time, and any point in the future.
You cannot claim that you "know" the information is correct, you have to prove that by citing suitable reliable sources,
The normal requirement for inclusion in a list of "Notable people" is that the person already has a Wkipedia article. and as Bharatlal Meena is a redlink, we know that we do not have such an article.
I am sure Bharatlal Meena was important in your village, but Wikipedia requires people to be "notable", which is slightly different from being famous, on a national or international level. If he was the subject of a book or major articles in national or international magazines or newspapers, he might be suitable subject for an article, but until that article has been written he should not be added as a "Notable" person. - Arjayay (talk) 13:58, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
