Warning after revert

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Diabetes: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. And some other pages like Monkmoor, Sharma, etc. All the Best! Otuọcha (talk) 10:50, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Clear the doubt

Hi @Arjayay , I need to ask something according to the WP:RAJ , sources of Raj Era , Archaeological Survey of India and books printed by local publications are not reliable as these books follow the same main sources i.e. Raj Era , so I removed the citations and the stuff which includes these sources but edits are reverted by other user and I also found some articles which are using these sources which are locked. Below are the pages which are using Raj Era sources and the current version is live :

  1. Bahun (my edits were reverted when I removed the Raj Sources)
  2. Kannauj (my edits were reverted when I removed the Raj Sources)
  3. Brahmin : In this article Raj Era books are used like Sherring, Matthew Atmore (1872) citation no 28 , 28 & others , Chaturvedi, Shyam Lal (Rai bahadur) (1945) similarly the citations no 10 & 11 took their references from the same books by repeating those in new book as usual print year not of Raj Era but the source is. Prominister (talk) 08:43, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi Prominister, WP:RAJ links to User:Sitush/CasteSources, which is a user-page. As it says at the top "This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines".
However, what that page does do is discuss, and link to, previous discussions, such as at the WP:RSN, where consensus has been set on several items. There are also some useful links on User:Sitush. Unfortunately, Sitush has been unwell for some time, and edits very rarely these days, but if you have any specific questions, you could ask on his talk page, which has 473 page watchers, 21 of whom have visited recent edits, so you may well get a reply from a page-watching editor. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 09:33, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Okay thanks , I will ask this on his talk page. Thanks for the guidance. - Prominister (talk) 09:57, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

"Spamming the same undergrad book"

Hello, I am glad you noticed this. Something odd has been happening for the past several days, which is the insertion of that book into dozens of Project Medicine articles. It is always accompanied by poorly written English, brand-new accounts with only edits to a particular article or two, and an insistence of putting-back reverted content; there has been copy-pasting straight from that book that I've had to learn how to do a copyvio-revdel for. I have been posting to talk pages with warnings, reverting changes that need it, and copyediting what seems ok to leave in. I have not gone so far as to remove instances of citing this book because I didn't want to judge for myself its merits. I have a copy of the book and it doesn't seem outright fictitious but past that I'm not a med student and can't say how high the quality is.

Can anything be done about this? Do you deem that source poor enough quality that I should go back and remove it where it was added in the past few days? Kimen8 (talk) 12:56, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi Kimen8, I don't know the book at all, but undergrad text-books are rarely the WP:MEDRS sources we require. I have requested page protection of Diabetes at WP:RPP. Looking at the revision history of Diabetes, in the last 29 hours, there have been 5 brand new accounts, which have only edited that article, all of which have ref-spammed that text-book. Which other articles are they attacking? - Arjayay (talk) 13:04, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi again Kimen8. Diabetes has now been semi-protected for 3 weeks and I have cleared the only other spamlink I could find, which was at Cystic fibrosis‎. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 14:30, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Bear with me because I have to go through my contributions to try to find them. Some of them have been copyvio-revel'd so I can't be certain on some of these, but:
I'm no good with Advanced Search but something along the lines of checking for Indraprakash Building (has been included in some of their refs) and insource:"|last=Khurana |first=Indu" should bring up some results, but it doesn't seem to. I know that this book was referenced a good bit in the past few days, because I obtained a copy for my library a few days ago and have been cross-referencing when I find it used so as to confirm no copy-pasting.
Kimen8 (talk) 15:46, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Sorry for the additional ping, but there seem to be more similar undergrad sources being put in as well, e.g.
Several are published by "Jaypee Brothers Medical" (or variously, Jaypee, Jaypee Brothers) publisher.
If there is an issue with general undergrad med textbooks, there are plentiful instances of those, published by Jaypee Brothers Medical, to be found:
&c. (a search for insource:"jaypee brothers" turns up 343 results, obviously some of which will be false positive, but it gives a suggestion as to how much this publisher's undergraduate textbooks are in use).
Thank you for your attention.
Kimen8 (talk) 15:59, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Thanks Kimen8 - there seem to be some very old additions by that author, such as this one from 2012, but that was for "Textbook of |Medical Physiology" whereas the recent spate of ref-spamming has been for "Medical Physiology for Undergraduates". I have the author, both titles, and the user contributions of the recent spammers (although they all seem to be single-use "throw-away" accounts) in searches. We will have to see if it re-starts - please let me know if you do find anything - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 16:16, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
I did stumble across this in an open tab from a couple days ago, Deltoid muscle (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) (book).
Can you help me figure out how to determine if a(n undergrad) textbook counts as a WP:MEDRS tertiary source? Thanks. Kimen8 (talk) 23:36, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi Kimen8, I am not an expert on WP:MEDRS (I only became involved because I spend some time chasing spammers) and I have a further disadvantage in that I do not have, nor have access to, a copy of the book. The fact that it is an old book, written for undergrads, and that all mention of it has been revision deleted from the Diabetes article, appear to go against it, but I don't know the reputation of the author, or the publisher.
I suggest you follow the suggestion in the final paragraph of the lead of Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine)
"See the reliable sources noticeboard for questions about reliability of specific sources, and feel free to ask at WikiProjects such as WikiProject Medicine and WikiProject Pharmacology."
Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 13:14, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
Sounds good, I'll head there for some more info.
Just as an aside, here are more books, mostly (all but one?) from Jaypee Brothers, and undergrad textbooks, being added by similar authors. Some are old, but some are from that end-of-march rush they did. I'll drop them here for now and then head to the noticeboard/project pages.
I would note that some Jaypee brothers content seems perectly fine, such as this "Indian Academy of Pediatrics Guidebook on Immunization".
  • B D Chaurasia — Human Anatomy (book)
  • D M Vasudevan — Textbook of Biochemistry for Medical Students (book)
  • M N Chatterja — Textbook of Medicinal Biochemistry (book)
  • ? — Textbook of Preventative and Social Medicine (book)
Thanks again for the help. I care greatly about quality of sources but also try not to be overzealous. Kimen8 (talk) 13:23, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi fellow Wikipedians. I'm sorry to be chiming in late on this discussion. These are not spammers nor bots. They are early medical students engaged in a Wikipedia-editing assignment in a course in a medical school in India. Hence the undergraduate medical text many of them are sourcing, as well as the fact that the majority of them are new Wikipedia contributors. Note that this course is not sponsored by Wiki Edu-- instead we are using the WMF labs dashboard. You can find the pages students are contributing to, as well as the training modules we required of them here. I apologize for the confusion-- I'm working closely with their faculty to ensure students don't plagiarize. I will step up efforts at encouraging them to run their suggested edits through some kind of grammar or prose tool to improve language consistency. Sorry again and thanks for ensuring Wikipedia's accuracy! AminMDMA (talk) 16:00, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Requesting for changing

Hi Arjayay, I have noticed a mistake in Bongaigaon page. The mistake is in the article Demography section. The Bongaigaon (2011) census population is 67,322 according to info-box, but the Demography section's population is 139,650 it is wrong population please remove this population from Demography section of Bongaigaon and add 67,322 according to info-box. Please match it to info-box population, if you have not match the population from info-box the many problems have on Bongaigaon. Surfunchy (talk) 16:10, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Vandalism of articles relating to Pakistan by a user with changing IPs

Hello. I need your help regarding an issue. There is a user who is vandalizing the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, Trans–Karakoram Tract and Maratha Empire articles. I and a few other editors reverted these edits but the user changed their IP. I reverted them again and now this guy comes to my talk page and swears at me in a hindi abbreviation "tmkc". Can you please do something to block this user or at least protect the articles. Your help would be appreciated. An Asphalt (talk) 08:52, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi An Asphalt - I am not an admin, so I can't block users, or protect pages. You need to go to WP:AIV for the first and WP:RPP for the second. Good luck - Arjayay (talk) 08:58, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

About the change in the article of Assamese people

its the current scenario! Its not even a current scenario, it's always been there and controversial, so Why shouldn't I add it? I'm a tribal myself, so I know. Tribes like BODO,KARBI,MISING etc don't consider your povWarriormann (talk) 11:06, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Why are you removing it again and again?? STOP IT⚠️ Warriormann (talk) 14:47, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
No Warriormann, as clearly explained to you, I am removing it because it is unsourced. It it also malformatted and not in encyclopaedic language, but, unlike the lack of sources those can be resolved. Please stop edit-warring before you are blocked. - Arjayay (talk) 15:18, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Why are you including the tribals who don't even want to be called "Assamese"?? Its wrong and misleading! Why are you putting someone in a box of your own ideology and opinion? And also in the above section, it's said that it is controversial, so I added something related to it, so nothing wrong with that! And who are you to block me? Social media

hey @Arjayay, You just removed the social links, which I added in some posts. I just wanted to know wether it is why it is noe=t allowed, as there are many posts with social profiles, Chocooooo (talk) 11:29, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi Chocooooo, Please create a new section when you start a new topic. As for your question, as I have already explained on your talk page, adding social media links to people's articles contravenes WP:NOSOCIAL. You should also read WP:ELMINOFFICIAL. In certain, limited, situations, one official link is allowed. As for other articles, please see WP:OTHERCONTENT. There are, indeed, many articles where these are already, incorrectly, linked; however, we are trying to reduce this, not increase it - best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 11:40, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

Notifying a Reversion

Hi , Arjyay

I have recently reverted the page Nangeli to your version as from the history of the page , it seems that you have made similar revisions multiple times. Can you please check , Iambornwithasword2024 (talk) 04:33, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Don't do changes on topic-Raut caste

With all due respect, I want to say that , don't change information on article of Raut caste. May be you've some misinformation about it. I'm a Raut so I know better about it. Thank you Raut Ankit (talk) 04:14, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Sorry Raut Ankit, but that is NOT the way Wikipedia works:-
Wikipedia is not interested in who you are, where you are from, what caste you are or what you "know".
Wikipedia is only interested in what has been published in reliable, independent sources, by a body with a reputation for fact-checking - No blogs, no self-published sources, no bodies with a conflict of interest, no promotional sites.
These sources must be properly cited in order to support any information added to, or changed in our pages, so the information can be verified as true in the future.
The responsibility for providing citations is solely on whoever adds or changes any information, to provide references from reliable sources that support those additions or changes.
You are not doing this, which is why your edits have been reverted. I see your last re-additions were reverted by User:DMacks - an administrator.
Please see Help:Referencing for beginners for the "how to" guide. Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 09:38, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
Arjayay, although it's a mistake for Raut Ankit to make edits without explanation and the source they now identify is not an allowed one, this specific article is a more complex situation. See its history and the ES in my later edits. DMacks (talk) 15:49, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Regarding recent edits

Kindly explain the guidelines violated by me or any type of vandalism done. Don't make false allegations and accuse falsely. You don't own Wikipedia, I have not made any false edits or not added any false information nor violated any guidelines. I have just updated the page to look better with accurate information.

I recently updated Hyderabad's settlement type from Metropolis to Megacity because Hyderabad city has grown into a megacity. You can cross check. You cannot really control a universal site. Else there is no benefit of editing, improving or making any contributions to Wikipedia. Expecting a reply soon. Anonymous copy (talk) 17:35, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Anonymous copy:- As that article clearly states, right next to your change " <!-- Not a Megacity, as the population of the city is under 10 million residents -->" - From your post, I presume you are referring to an unofficial "estimate", whereas we are working off the official census figures. The 2011 census of India ([23] page 3} clearly states that there are only 3 Megacities in India. We know the 2021 census is unlikely to be taken until late in 2024, and unlikely to report until 2025, but we need to wait until then, not only for the official population figure, but also as they may change their definition of Megacity. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 19:12, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
But can it be classified as an act of Vandalism ? As you have issued a warning ? and according to estimates Hyderabad has already crossed 10 million population. If you don't rely on estimates and want to rely on census then revert the urban agglomerations page to 2011 census figures. Anonymous copy (talk) 19:17, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Regarding recent Edit

and regarding my second edit on list of largest agglomeration page I have first verified the fact then only made the edit. I do know that editing false information may lead to loss of editing rights. You don't know the exact stats. You can verify from wherever you want. Didn't expect this bad behavior from your side. Anonymous copy (talk) 17:59, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Anonymous copy - I still see this as pure falsification, you simply changed the titles of two entries in the table, without any alteration of the figures, from
Lucknow - Uttar Pradesh - 4,661,000 - 393.6 - 2,901,474 - 2,245,50 - 1,669,204
Jaipur - Rajasthan - 4,360,000 - 484.16 - 3,073,350 - 2,322,575 - 1,518,235
to
Jaipur - Rajasthan 4,661,000 - 393.6 - 2,901,474 - 2,245,509 - 1,669,204
Lucknow - Uttar Pradesh 4,360,000 - 484.16 - 3,073,350 - 2,322,575 - 1,518,235
It is not up to me, or any other editor, or reader to "verify from wherever you want" the BURDEN is on you as the changing editor, to provide all the required references - Arjayay (talk) 19:26, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
ok I will provide the relevant data. this data is already incorrect (as edited by last editor). I admit that figures should also be edited by me and I will take care of it the next time, but the ranking given by me is absolutely correct and the edit was done in good faith and not to vandalize. But I will still make sure to make less contributions to Wikipedia. Anonymous copy (talk) 03:41, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Regarding Western UP Article

Hi ! @Arjayay , I want the discussion regarding the article page of West UP. In demographics it is mentioned that Jat' are around 17% but on talk page of the article some guy show articles from renowned news papers that all that data is just assumption of the author who wrote the article. So my point is we must removed this caste percentage in the article. Mr. Pro 11:31, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

I saw you reverted my edit made to page of Hyderabad, Telangana settlement type changed from "Metropolis" to "Megacity" by me. I would like to share relevant sources to support my answer

Hyderabad estimated population figures 2024 = 11,068,877, which is clearly > 10 million. Hence, Hyderabad qualifies as a Megacity.

Source url = Hyderabad Population 2024 (worldpopulationreview.com)

another sources which supports Hyderabad population > 10 million

Complaint

Hello, I would like to complain against User talk:Ravensfire regarding his edits on MTV Splitsvilla (season 15). He removed an important element from the page "Ideal Match" section calling it unsourced fan trivia, which is false. I have reverted his edit but now he just want to keep it as he wants which is not right. I have been active on the MTV Splitsvilla (season 15) page and I know what should he there. I even added references. Please tell him to do some research and not indulge in edit wars without any knowledge regarding the article. Help Me. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 04:49, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

@Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law as I've pointed out, it's WP:FANCRUFT in an article already full of excessive details. I've invited them to discuss on the article talk page and work through WP:DR. Ravensfire (talk) 04:52, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
There is no WP:DR because there is no dispute honestly. All i want to request is do some research regarding the article. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 04:58, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law, I do not know why you have posted here, I am not an Administrator and, other than correcting "recieve" to "receive", I have never edited that page, and have no interest in the subject whatsoever. Ravensfire is correct in saying you should discuss it on the article talk page. You need to cite WP:reliable sources, published by a body with a reputation for fact checking, not a fansite, blog or opinion piece. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 09:11, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
I'm new to the community, I do not know where to find justice. I have added WP:reliable sources from a reputed body. I know him well, he just like to take control and don't listen to others' opinion. No body have an issue it has been part for over previous five seasons. Who I am supposed to talk on talk page? It's only him with a problem. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 09:48, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law you won't "find justice" until you follow procedure, which starts with discussing it on the talk page.
This has been suggested to you several times, but you still have not edited the talk page. On the talk page, other interested editors can join-in inone, centralised discussion; please do not discuss it here, or anywhere else. Set out your points, citing your reliable sources, show that they are reliable and ask why the other editor finds them unacceptable.
Please do not start attacking, or disparaging, other editors, just concentrate on the facts. - Arjayay (talk) 10:03, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Sure, I will start a discussion on talk page. I am not attacking, or disparaging, the user did that before as well on other articles. If you do not believe me kindly check his talk page. The user is self centered. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 10:07, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Removal of Name in Regional Language from Vizhinjam International Port Trivandrum

Hi Hobbywriterae, as explained in my edit summary "Rm Indic script as WP:NOINDICSCRIPT". You can easily add the references in the same edit as the reversion - they are not an add-on extra for some time in the future. - Arjayay (talk) 15:25, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
I am new to Wikipedia. Hence I do not know how to do that. The easiest way for me was to undo and then simply add the references. Now I had to write the entire chain out again otherwise it will like an edit war. Thanks for that friend. I have added it properly now. 86.5.202.27 (talk) 15:36, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
If you undo the edit, you can then simply add the reference(s) before saving it - incidentally, we do not put references in section titles. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 15:44, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Regarding Recent edit

Hi @Arjayay, I noticed your recent edit in saraswat Brahmins page.Detail goes as follows, page:59 Footnote:28. 28. Burton mentions that many of these saraswat brahmins were considered low caste and were also called "Sindhur," from the vermillion tika (Hin. mark on the forehead),

The fact is not represented properly even though I didn’t edited others work. The whole paragraph is explaining how the local ritual expert Brahmins helped in raising status of Khatri and lohanas. Now it’s your turn to revert your edit. Have a nice day. RobertJudeson (talk) 21:37, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

RobertJudeson - as I clearly stated in my edit summary "No reference to anyone called Burton on this page" - coming here and telling me about what is on page 59, in some book, with an unknown title, by an unknown author, issued by an unknown publisher, is of no help to anyone.
Moreover, if the book is by R. G. Burton, (the only writer on Indian subjects I know called Burton) that would not be seen as a reliable source, as per WP:RAJ. - Arjayay (talk) 21:55, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Arjayay,
I agree with you as the whole paragraph is based out of RAJ,the selected statements are extracted from footnote so it’s not the opinion of modern author.
Statement with cite ,

Hi @Arjayay,
Richard Francis Burton,a British officer during Raj wrote a book on Sindh(1851).The footnote of above book contains this book extract which has been used as it is.

Yes RobertJudeson, I can't see much of the Google book - they show different pages to different viewers - but anything based on the Raj sources, which this is, is probably not reliable. - Arjayay (talk) 15:28, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

Protection for Nalanda

Hello Arjayay, is possible to have permanent protection for Nalanda University page? Many users keep adding the 1600 years ago established things. I think protection will help. Siddhi gupta vb (talk) 13:46, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

I largely agree with you Siddhi gupta vb, but I am not an admin and was waiting to see if there was any more disruption before going to WP:RPP.
Semi-protection would prevent the IPs, but the actual editor changing to 1600 years has 38 edits, so would only be stopped by Extended confirmed protection, which would also stop you editing the article. - Arjayay (talk) 14:00, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Vandalism and removal of redirect under the page Tiyyar

Hi, i have seen that the redirect to ezhava from the topic thiyya is recently removed by someone. this issue has been discussed from 2013 and all of the main editors have redirected it to the main page ezhava. the new page tiyyar is a low quality copy of the same page and in addition to that, this is claiming things like there is a dialect called thiyya in the lead with the help of some random new articles. when almost all of the raj era sources suggests that both are same . i cant find any evidence to prove that both are separate. Also in most of the cases the name ezhava is used instead of thiyya , this is again making heavy confusions as in 100+ pages are there where they have been mentioned as the same. In addition to that the recently made page is heavily vandalised and is entirely based on some news articles. please look into it an bring the redirect back , as i saw from 2013 ownwards almost everyone had bought the redirect back whenever someone have removed it. Lisa121996 (talk) 14:00, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

I have no idea why you have come here, as I have never edited the Tiyyar page - please take this up at Talk:Tiyyar which is the relevant page for such concerns. - Arjayay (talk) 15:52, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

Draft:Constrained minimum criterion

As you might have noticed, I have reverted your edit of removing the redirect. In addition to what I said in the edit summary, I note the redirect is needed since otherwise the draft will be deleted by G13. By redirecting it, we can keep the draft content in the history. Taku (talk) 17:06, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

No Taku. If, as you claim in your edit summary "the topic does not seem to merit an inclusion in Wikipedia" and "there is no need to develop this draft", we can happily let it die in due course, however, it was edited yesterday, specifically to avoid G13, so that argument is invalid. I still believe that hiding the latest content, be it good, bad or indifferent, behind a redirect is counter-productive to the draft being developed and confusing to other editors. Moreover, under the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle, we should be discussing this in the status quo ante, rather than you trying to force the issue by edit warring before any discussion has taken place. - Arjayay (talk) 17:41, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
The dummy edit was because I requested the undeletion of the draft (so the admin made the dummy edit). It was I who judged the draft need not be developed (since the topic seems too recent) but some other editors might think differently so it is actually more productive to just let it redirect to the mainspace, I think. It is even possible that the draft may contain some materials that can be merged into the mainspace articles. If we just let it die, then we cannot see the deleted content so like I did, we need to request the undeletion. (Basically the problem with G13 is that we don’t know the reason for the deletion. With the redirect, there is more info like I judged that the topic is not notable and if needed, we can revisit that decision.) —- Taku (talk) 17:55, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
I'm sorry, Taku, that is rather confusing. "It was I who judged the draft needs not be developed"? - So you had it re-instated, and then hid it behind a redirect? If other editors cannot see that there is a draft article, they are highly unlikely to develop it. Furthermore, why did you request undeletion if you "judged the draft needs not be developed"?
G13 requires 6 months of inactivity, I suggest that if there has been no activity (from you or any other editors) in 6 months, then we have a clear indication that it is still not notable, so deletion would be logical. - Arjayay (talk) 19:02, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
No, the inactivity has nothing to do with notability: it just means no activity regardless of the notability. I requested the undeletion since I couldn’t tell just from the draft name alone what the draft is about. Also, redirecting a draft doesn’t actually prevent editors from working it: anyone who believes the topic is notable can just undo the redirecting and develop the draft, including the creator of the draft. (Also, redirecting a draft to the mainspace actually helps editors discover the draft through “what links here”. —- Taku (talk) 20:17, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
I think you will be surprised how few casual readers/editors will even find out that there is a draft article hidden behind the redirect, so it is less likely to be developed. - Arjayay (talk) 11:26, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
About “bold, revert”. You made a bold edit without discussion, which I reverted. Now, we are discussing the issue (so I think we are procedurally correct). —- Taku (talk) 17:59, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
No, Taku, that is a clear and obvious misunderstanding of WP:BRD. You made the "bold" edit, without discussion, of turning it into a redirect, I "reverted" it (you cannot deny that I reverted your edit), so that is the point that it should be discussed, in the status quo ante, not after you have repeated your "bold" edit. - Arjayay (talk) 19:02, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
I guess it’s the question of what the status quo was. You can say the status quo was the deleted state. So, redirecting it was actually closer to the deleted state. I don’t think we can argue the status quo was the state of being developed, since it wasn’t as you can see from the history. —- Taku (talk) 20:17, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
Sigh - Please don't try to use semantics to try and justify your position. You redirected the article, I reverted you, and that is the status quo ante when the matter should have been discussed. I will leave this to you, and your conscience, as I have some more useful editing to be getting on with. - Arjayay (talk) 11:26, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

In short, we clearly see how drafts that need not be developed should be handled differently. In any case, as it turned out, some other editor reverted the redirect too. So I think that settles the matter. (I still think the deletion is less productive but that’s just my view). —- Taku (talk) 13:24, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

Dogra

Regarding this, Sitush removed it [ for being unsourced. This user added it back [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dogras&diff=1182014921&oldid=1182014747, I removed it [26], today he added that back [27], excuse being vandalism from our part!. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:38, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Up to you Fylindfotberserk. I accept Sitush's reasoning in theory, but pragmatically, we have dozens of such articles, and whenever such a list is totally deleted, it reappears sooner or later. I am willing to spend my time restricting such lists to people with articles and keeping them in order, which avoids duplicates, but I think the endless total delete/reinstatement circle is non-productive and I don't have time to provide citations for all the entries.
If you think it should all be reverted, then do so, with a detailed explanation in your edit summary and on the talk page. Alternatively, find sources for those that you can, and tag the others CN, separating them from those with sources with a clean-up list template, and then delete the unsourced entries in say 6 months time, after editors have had a chance to provide citations (although I doubt they will have). I think you know that this is what I often do for schools. - Arjayay (talk) 19:12, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
I have been having trouble editing this section - it keeps reverting to an earlier edit that I had previewed but not saved, I have now managed to edit my previous reply. - Arjayay (talk) 19:19, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
After a quick check, only 9 of the current list appear to be alive and 18 are dead, so few are required to/likely to meet the self-identification parameter. We are also likely to encounter the Raj sources problem with many of the older entries. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 19:30, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi, not sure how to use this probably but I was trying to update Velile Tshabalala's page to reflect her recent recurring role as Stella Clayton in EASTENDERS which is documented but you removed it? Why did you do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.20.91.162 (talk) 16:37, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

Firstly, please do not make additions at the top of the page, between 2 lines that clearly state "<!---♦♦♦ Please put new posts at the BOTTOM of the page and include a title set between double == signs ♦♦♦--->"
As for your question, all information added to Wikipedia needs WP:Reliable sources, your addition cited Fandom, which is NOT a reliable source, as is explained at WP:FANDOM. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 17:49, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

Austin Ruffdiamond that is not how Wikipedia works.
Wikipedia is not interested in who you are, where you are from, what race/religion/community/caste you are, what you "know" or what you want an article to say.
Wikipedia is only interested in what has already been published in reliable, independent sources published by a body with a reputation for fact-checking - No blogs, no self-published sources, and no bodies with a conflict of interest.
These sources must be properly cited in order to support any information added to, or changed in our pages, so the information can be verified as true in the future.
The responsibility for providing citations is solely on whoever adds or changes any information, to provide references from reliable sources that support those additions or changes.
You are repeatedly failing to do this, which is why your edits have been, and will continue to be, reverted, until you do add proper references.
Please see Help:Referencing for beginners for the "how to" guide.
Furthermore, please do not make personal attacks, as you did in this edit, nor insult other ethnic groups, as you did in this edit. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 10:26, 4 August 2024 (UTC)

Object-oriented Fortran

Dear Arjayay, It is not clear to me why yuu have pushed this article back into user space. The article does, indeed, have only one reference, but there are no others available for this relatively new subject. What more can be done? In this context, please note that the author of this article died tragically in June, and I am endeavouring to rescue his last major technical contribution from oblivion.

Please note, too, that an existing article with this title is merely an outdated and abandoned stub.

Thank you, Mr.Fortran (talk) 12:02, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

Sorry Mr.Fortran, if you have only one reference, as "there are no others available for this relatively new subject" it is WP:Too soon for there to be a Wikipedia article on it. I'm sorry the author died, but Wikipedia is not a memorial site, and until it meets WP:42, i.e. significant coverage in in reliable sources (plural) that are independent of the topic, it does not meet the general notability guide so should stay as a draft. There were also formatting and other errors, these can be resolved once it meets the inclusion criteria. - Arjayay (talk) 15:02, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

I would kindly ask you to undo the changes as the information provided currently is false and misleading and hence affects the public image of the individual if the said changes are not made and addition of false information is continued we would be forced to take a legal action based on public misrepresentation. 2409:40C0:6D:D23E:284C:3DF5:A368:4A79 (talk) 18:35, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello IP from Mumbai "her official pr team" have a very clear WP:Conflict of interest so should not be editing that page at all. If they wish to suggest changes, they should make them on the articles talk page, including WP:Reliable sources from independent publishers with no connection whatsoever to zahrah s khan.
As for your statement "we would be forced to take a legal action based on public misrepresentation" that is deemed a Legal threat which is unacceptable on Wikipedia, as per Wikipedia:No legal threats and will get you blocked unless you withdraw it. - Arjayay (talk) 21:16, 3 September 2024 (UTC)WP:Legal threat

Question

Dear Arjayay, Request you to please tell the reason for the removal of council members.

Hello IP from Faridabad. You didn't say, but I assume you are talking about Army Public School, Shankar Vihar?
As I stated in my edit summary "we don't name students". This summarises the advice at Wikipedia:WPSCHOOLS/AG "Specific students should not be mentioned unless they are notable in their own right, such as Daniel Radcliffe who was famous while still in school".
AFAIK none of the students on your "Student Council " are notable enough to have their own article on the English Wikipedia, so they "should not be mentioned".
Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 14:10, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Understandable and thank you for your remarks. We are adding the posts which are in the school (not the students).
Also maybe the IP is incorrect or so but it is from New Delhi.
Thanking you again

Edits on Walter White (Breaking Bad)

I reverted your edit [32] on Walter White (Breaking Bad), but I see you've reinstated it. I didn't want to revert you again, so if you could take a careful look, and make sure that's what you intended. While used is a past tense, I think use here is a hypothetical, and is expressed with the subjunctive. The series doesn't say whether Skylar did or didn't use it; it is given as Walt's suggestion that she use it. Thanks if you can consider whether to reconsider the edit. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 20:41, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for your very polite post Willondon - my bad - I misunderstood what it was trying to say - I have reverted myself - thanks again - Arjayay (talk) 20:47, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Misclicked revert

Sorry for this [33]. I'm not sure how it happened but likely due to clicking on a button on a late-loading watchlist. Frost 10:09, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

No worries Frost - we all make mistakes - me more than most - happy editing - Arjayay (talk) 12:19, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
