From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Pidgeot (talk | contribs) at 09:42, 2 September 2006 (Reference sources: just a small notice to let IE users use my script without being prompted to download.). Some Wikipedians have formed a project to improve Wikipedia's encyclopedic coverage of Pokémon. This (and its subpages) is the result. If you would like to help, feel free to add yourself to the participants list or inquire on the Talk Page.

If you'd like to bring an article to this project's attention, tag it with {{poke-cleanup}} or {{poke-stub}} or mention it on the talk page as appropriate.

Documentation

Reference sources

  • http://www.smogon.com - This gives every piece of online, multiplayer, competitive battle strategy that is needed. Multiple movesets for every fully evolved Pokémon on RBY, GSC, and RSE, as well as EV distributions are included.
  • http://www.wikiknowledge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Pok%C3%A9mon (formerly at b:pokédex) - Base stats, breeding info, the works. This only covers info from the core RPGs and the card game and doesn't have Colosseum or Emerald info.
  • http://www.pokemondungeon.com/pokedex.htm - For Pokémon from the Kanto and Johto series (Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Stadium 1, Stadium 2). Includes Pokédex entries, attacks, stats, and where to find it.
  • http://www.serebii.net/potw/ - Although only about half of all Pokémon have thus far have been a 'Pokémon Of The Week' here, this site is handy, because it tells you what episodes of the animé it has played a role in, and links to exhaustive descriptions of each episode's action (which can readily be summed up in a sentence or two).
  • http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page - Bulbapedia - a Pokémon-centric wiki. Useful for Pokémon character information. (Please don't use material from Bulbapedia verbatim; while it is a wiki, it uses CC-by-nc-sa 2.0, an incompatible license.)
  • http://birdiesoft.dk/basestat.php?id=1 - Where "1" is the National Pokédex number for the Pokémon. This shows the percentiles for the various statistics of the Pokémon. Created by User:Pidgeot. (Note: IE will try to download the file instead of displaying it in the browser, to work around this, replace .php with .txt to view directly in the browser.)
  • http://www.j-talk.com/nihongo/ - Wonderful tool that converts one form of Japanese to another, gives romanization, and has some definitions.
  • http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/ - Decent Pokédex, episode summaries, and what not

Current 'Species' Article Focus: Quilava

What you can do

  • Fix the in-universe perspective.
  • Find references!
  • It's a starter evolution - the video games section deserves much more than that
  • Expand the anime section.
  • Create a trading card game section.
  • Write a manga section, Gold has one in Pokémon Adventures.

What's been done

the quotes were there because parts of it were verbatim from the Pokedex itself. -Zappernapper 04:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current 'Other' Article Focus: Pokémon

What you can do

Right, I think we need a change since this hasn't changed since the founding of the project. This is our core topic so really needs to be an FA (though, with very little work it could become a GA and that's a good short term goal). Here's what we need to do:

What's been done

This section is kept primarily for archival purposes.

Future Focus Articles

Suggestions for future articles for this project to focus on (and discussion of preliminary cleanup) should be directed to the talk page.
