I noticed that you do edits on Canadian radio stations, so I thought you might be interested in seeing that I added the logo for CHAT-FM. BTW, I find your User page very interesting! Rudy2alan

Jian Ghomeshi - needs semi-protect?

Hi Bearcat

I reworked the Ghomeshi article but you didn't like the edits. Can you explain?

I didn't delete anything of consequence. There was a lot of overlap with the "Trial of Jian Ghomeshi" page so I transferred paragraphs from one article to another. I also removed some items about the bail and scheduling of the preliminary court proceedings because they are out-of-date. The trial is now completed.

The inclusion of the findings of the Rubin Report fairly represents her findings as well as the limitations of the report. The report acknowledged the limitations.

The "Trial by Media" section merely notes the discrepancy between the negative media coverage and the fact that he was successful at trial and the Carleton University investigation found no wrongdoing.

I referenced everything so I'm unclear what you find objectionable. Please note this was a highly publicized item with all major media outlets in Canada providing coverage. In addition, the court decision is available.

Thanks! User: WSDavitt

Garage rock task force

Would you be interested in joining this task force when it is created? We will need someone with as much experience as you to help make this a successful project. It may intrigue you because I am going to push for more Canadian-based garage rock band articles to be created. I am not sure how involved you have been in these projects in the past, but you could also help administrate the page if that interests you. Thank you for your time!TheGracefulSlick (talk) 05:27, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, the task force is up and running here. Please add yourself and feel free to add the userbox available there.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 03:51, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jian Ghomeshi

Would you be okay with dropping the protection on Jian Ghomeshi? It looks like a single user was responsible for the disruption, and IMO if it resumes, a block would be a better way to handle it. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:43, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bearcat, the above article is a case of very close paraphrasing of this paper, which is cited as a source. If you have a chance to look at it could you let me know if it would have been appropriate to tag it with G12? Or should it be tagged with {subst:Copyvio} and listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems? Still trying to figure how to be most efficient and not spend a ton of time overthinking things, while not making unneccessary work for other folks. Thanks, nerdgoonrant (talk) 17:02, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion

I know XHDEH-TDT was kept at AfD in July 2014, but I think the reviewers there didn't really get Mexican TV stations and how they work. I really think XHDEH-TDT and XHCDE-TDT should be converted to redirects. What say you? (I'm trying to remove some of our overly unnecessary Mexico TV articles.) Chenail Island

I see you noticed Chenail Island. Perley Bridge was a DYK yesterday, and Chenail Island was a red-link in the lead that was bugging me. So just before the DYK went live, I decided to create a stub for Chenail Island. But instead of the few minutes I was expecting to spend, I kept going and added everything I could find. I added it to the Canada 10K list too. There is always plenty to work on! MB 18:48, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ontario

Sorry for the mixup. I saw a new user's edits that needed some help on Pending Changes and fixed them up. I should have looked more closely at the purpose of the list. Cheers . . . and Happy New Year! Chris vLS (talk) 19:32, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request for assistance

Hello Bearcat, My recent return to preventing vandalism and updating articles is disappointed by constant reverts by new users focussed on one celebrity bio that possibly may (or may not) be interested in controversies or defamation.

Because of your past excellent admin performance, could you please check out John Furlong (sports administrator) article and Talk page.

I do like seeing your edits / corrections on articles I keep an eye on my watchlist. You do so many.

Cheers,

Canuckle (talk) 23:04, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Note of appreciation

I'm impressed by your insights, discretion, judgement and analysis at Afds. My hat off to you. Thank you. Much to learn from you still. Lourdes 17:06, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Philip M Epstein

Hi Bearcat.

I am interested as to why you deleted my first Wikipedia page with respect to Philip M. Epstein without any discussion. Philip Epstein is a person of note in Family Law in Canada and I believe deserves to have an entry in Wikipedia. If there is some issue with the content that I provided, then please let me know. I believe that the content I provided speaks for itself and if you were to look into Mr. Epstein's considerable background I would think you would come to the same conclusion. The entry was created by me and I have no vested interest in Mr Epstein's business activities. I created this page as a tribute for someone I admire. Please reconsider this deletion. Thank you for your attention. Tmanship (talk) 22:23, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User page categories

I'm quite happy for all these joke categories to be deleted. But I want them removed from user pages as well. Rathfelder (talk) 20:37, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ottawahitech - can you help?

I don't really know where to ask for something to be done about Ottawahitech's editing. If they're doing this after 10 years editing here, I'm not sure there's much hope for improvement. Is there a way to stop them from creating any more articles? World's Lamest Critic (talk) 20:19, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Starting on the Mexico stuff

Well, I'm starting the clean-out. I'm waiting a little longer on XHDEH/XHCDE because of the RFC, but I've sent six templates to TfD (all by the same user whose specialty has been TV in Chihuahua — no wonder we're so overbuilt, and I've already TfD'd a number of his templates) and AfD'd five articles I discovered on non-notable local TV programs in Juárez (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arriba Juárez). I had no idea about those and am amazed they've lasted this long on the encyclopedia. Raymie (tc) 07:16, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request for input

Hey there Bearcat, as a regular contributor to helping improve Canadian TV channel articles on Wikipedia, I'd like to invite you to contribute to your input into the discussion taking part on Talk:Gusto (TV channel), regarding the merger of M3 (Canadian TV channel) to the Gusto (TV channel) article. Your input would be appreciated. musimax. (talk) 19:28, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of {{Persondata}}

Hi Bearcat,

I'm the bot who is deleting {{Persondata}}. I noticed your edit on Eazzy in which you added {{Persondata}}. This template is deprecated and deleted. Please stop adding {{Persondata}}. In case you want to support the Persondata project you can help with the migration of the dataset to Wikidata at KasparBot's tool. See Wikipedia:Persondata or contact my operator T.seppelt in case you have any questions.

Thank you very much, -- KasparBot (talk) 01:00, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Outro (literary)

The article Outro (literary) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is a "definition" of the word and is therefore against policy.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Paine Ellsworth  u/c 07:59, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate tag?

(EDIT: Whoops, my mistake, you combined two AfD's into one, and I've replaced the tag.) Hi, and happy new year to you and yours. In doing an extensive italics run on CBC radio shows I came across the two AfD requests, which I commented on, but also came upon an inaccurately directed AfD notice at Deconstructing Dinner, which I've removed. Wanted to let you know in case it should be started up again or anew. Randy Kryn 16:25, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The best scheme to categorize writers?

There appears to be way too many subcategories for writers: divisions by nationality, by gender, by type of writing (novel vs. short story vs. essays), by century, by language, by ethnicity (and even by regime, such as Category:People's Republic of China novelists that I tried and failed to delete in a CFD discussion). A writer with 1 published work can potentially be categorized into more than 10 different categories the way things are now. I'm thinking, since most novelists also write short stories (isn't the difference just word count?), so isn't it easier to combine the largely overlapping categories of Category:American women novelists and Category:American women short story writers into one Category:American women fiction writers, for example? Johnstone with a "t""

Hi. Unusual problem, and certainly I (I may well be the worst typist on Wikipedia) understand how easily this sort of thing happens, but the AFD you started for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aaron Johnson (writer) is problematic because it looks as though his name is Johnston. I know that you'll know how to procede ot fixs thhis. cheers.E.M.Gregory (talk) 17:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)@Bearcat:[reply]

There's an AFD template on this page that links to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Democracy North. since teh O'Keefe page is primary and otherwise inadequately sourced, I assume that you intended to birng both to AFD?E.M.Gregory (talk) 16:22, 15 January 2017 (UTC)@Bearcat: My error. sorry.E.M.Gregory (talk) 16:45, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know exactly where to go with this, so I thought I'd ask you if you don't mind. This article is a copyvio from Kinney Parking Company. The body is word for word the same, including references, and I don't see any attribution in the history. I believe I could fix that with a dummy edit and explain where it came from in the edit summary. But that would leave several paragraphs of identical text in two places which I think is wrong. I could blank the article and make it a redirect to the section in Kinney Parking Company where it came from (so the incoming links keep working). I could also remove the section in Kinney Parking Company, but that would make a small article even smaller so I'm leaning toward the redirect.

I don't think I would get much response on the talk pages of these articles, or that AFD is the right venue for this. Do you see any reason I should not just go ahead and do this? MB 04:20, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Wikiproject!

Hello, Bearcat! I saw you recently edited a page related to the Green party and green politics. There is a new WikiProject that has been formed - WikiProject Green Politics and I thought this might be something you'd be interested in joining! So please head on over to the project page and take a look! Thanks for your time. Me-123567-Me (talk) 21:39, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User:Davidgoodheart created as an article page on it's user page

Hi there, I need your help because User:Davidgoodheart has created it's user page as an article page. I am looking from "What Wikipedia is not" for never creating user pages as articles. So could you got to User:Davidgoodheart's user page and delete it because the user page acted as an article. Once the user page is deleted talk to User:Davidgoodheart to warn the user never create its user page acted as an article. Remember if you see User:Davidgoodheart's user page acted as an article, delete it right away and warn the user never create user pages as articles. This is an urgent message.
