Shinya Shokudō (深夜食堂) also known in English as "Midnight Diner" is a Japanese manga series by Yarō Abe [ja]. It won the 55th Shogakukan Manga Award for general manga[1] and it was nominated for the 2nd Manga Taishō.[2] It was adapted into a 10-episode live-action television drama in 2009, followed by second season in 2011 and third in 2014.[3][4][5] In 2015, a live action film was released by director Joji Matsuoka starring Kaoru Kobayashi as The Master. A sequel movie released in November 5, 2016.[6] Manga was also adapted into a South Korean drama starring Kim Seung-woo and aired on SBS in 2015. It's about a late night diner open from midnight to dawn and the stories of its odd-ball patrons.[7]
