Greater Belfast, also known as the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area, is an area surrounding and including Belfast in Northern Ireland. It has a population of almost 700,000 people and is one of the biggest urban areas in the UK. Almost 1 million people live within a 20 mile radius from belfast city centre.

It generally is taken to include North Down, Lisburn, Castlereagh and parts of South Antrimincluding Netownabbey and Whiteabbey.

Greater Belfast is the largest metropolitan area in Northern Ireland, or second largest in Irelandand the sixth largest in the uk.
