correction

Marlon passed away prior to completion of his final work, Black Is...Black Ain't.

I saw that too. I used your suggested phrasing to correct it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.86.248.1 (talk) 21:27, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Affirmations and Anthem linked to the general pages for each, and no unique page seems to exist for either of these films.

Thanks to figurefour44 for adding Mulholland's quote on Marlon. A beautiful sentiment, exquisitely written. Had me pumping my fist. Captures Marlon Riggs, nails him. Chrish65 (talk) 17:05, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm just learning about the man and artist Marlon Riggs from my Medical Humanities class and I must say, I'm loving all things Marlon Riggs. I'm very interest in exploring more about his early years and the struggles that he faced in the world and in the African American community. Does anyone know his family background? Was his family steep in religion like most AA families in the South? Also, does anyone know who influenced him in his early years? Also, interest to learn more about his films: ethnic notions and others. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Athomas001 (talkcontribs) 22:22, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Athomas001: Looking forward to the edits you make and what you find out. Be bold! Professorsmith (talk) 12:53, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Athomas001, I read over the article and the talk page, I like the enthusiasm you have toward learning more about Marlon Riggs. I could not tell what you had added to the article though, I am still learning to work on wikipedia so I am not sure if you just did not add your edits to the talk page or I may to not be looking in the correct place. Anyhow, I did notice that in the first section there is a open parenthesis that may be an error. There are also some run-on sentences that could be make into two sentences or worded differently. It is great that your article/person has so much more information and is more developed. I like the different titled sections in the article which I will add to mine. Article evaluation by Lfountain

This entry is being posted as a class assignment. I have not made any changes to the article yet.Linda Fountain 04:36, 23 January 2018 (UTC) I will be attempting to research Riggs' early life in an effort to see if there are specific people, philosophies or events that influenced his writing and filmmaking. I will also work on standardizing the titles of the films throughout the article. Linda Fountain 04:31, 23 January 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lfountain (talkcontribs)

I agree that more information should attempt to be added to give a more clear insight on Marlon's inspiration behind her film work. --Djp209 (talk) 04:20, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Marlon Riggs Harvard Experience

The recent information added to the article on Marlon Riggs was very interesting. Is there a source that can be included in the reference section? The two sentences that are being contested are based on an article written by Marlon Riggs, which is currently the sixth item listed in the reference section: Riggs, Marlon (Fall 1991). "Notes of a signifyin' snap! queen". Art Journal. 50: 60–65 – via EBSCO. Linda Fountain 15:56, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
