Abhijith P S Nair (born 18 October 1991) is a Violinist, Arranger and Composer based in India, known for instrumental video projects. He has done many musical shows and flash mobs in India and Abroad.
Early Life
Abhijith was born in Vaikom, Kerala. His father P.Sasikumaran Nair was a Malayalam Teacher, and his mother M.Santhakumari was a Sanskrit Teacher. Abhijith was introduced to Karnatic music and other styles from his age 13. And was trained in Indian classical violin since he turned 15. His brother Jyothish P S, a music lover and promoter produced most of Abhijith’s music videos. Abhijith attained bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kerala University.
Performing career
Abhijith started doing A R Rahman covers and flash mob exclusively filled with A R Rahman songs. Got acquainted with various playing styles like folk and classical which reflected great flexibility in performing career together with the onstage improvisations.[1]. Music composing, directing and producing are being done. Fusion violin shows and albums by him gained much popularity[2]
He has performed with artists like Padmashree Dr K.J.Yesudas, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Kalaimamani A.Sivamani, Mandolin U.Rajesh, Mattannor SankaranKutty Marar, Stephen Devassy, Mohini Dey [3]and many more.First international instrumental Jazz Fusion Album by him,‘Saraswati At Montreux’, collaborated with drummer Dave Weckl[4]. This album is a duo instrumental project of guitarist Sandeep Mohan and Abhijith P S Nair. First song from the album also featuring Bass Guitar Prodigy Mohini Dey. This album got featured in so many radio stations including BBC. The second track from the album already announced and released the teaser featuring drummer Ranjit Barot (who is a long time associate of A R Rahman and John Mclaughlin).[citation needed]
Entry to the Malayalam film industry happened at the age of 18 through the film Akashangalil, Indian feature film, directed by Rixon Xavier, starring veteran actor Shankar in an extended special appearance. Abhijith was accompanied by Malayalam Rock band Avial. And was called as a promoter of the Cochin Tuskers Cricket Team(IPL).
