Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 55 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African wildlife articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance. If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing any article related to a topic you often work on, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Might be a good way to work on fleshing out articles you've long been meaning to target and get rewarded for it! Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:55, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Material you included in the above article appears to have been copied from the copyright web page http://threatenedtaxa.org/ZooPrintJournal/2015/April/o414526iv157146-7151.pdf. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:38, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diannaa, the source is in CC BY 4.0 licensed. More visible here. What I copied are identification keys and location which can't be altered to something else. I checked Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Copying_material_from_free_sources, Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright#Can_I_add_something_to_Wikipedia_that_I_got_from_somewhere_else.3F, Wikipedia:Adding open license text to Wikipedia and I didn't see a problem though I learned attribution need to be improved. Could you explain what the issue here? Note that I had created one more article before getting this notice. Will wait from editing further util things get clarified. Jee 03:24, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jkadavoor. Sorry for the mistake. I did look for a license on the document but didn't see it, as the font is so tiny on the PDF. I've added a statement that says that the document is compatibly licensed and a statement that indicates to our readers that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. If you could do the same in the future when copying from compatibly licensed material that would be great. In fact it is required under the terms of the CC-by license. You can do it manually like I did or use a template {{CC-notice}}. Thanks, and sorry again for the mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:23, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Diannaa; I will try to ensure it in future. Its a new info for me. Thanks! Jee 13:27, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Elymnias hypermnestra into Elymnias caudata. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:33, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Diannaa. I had already mentioned "Some text copied from Elymnias hypermnestra". The additional text "Please see the history of that page for full attribution" seems good. Jee 04:57, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the oversight; your initial edit summary was indeed adequate. I don't know how I missed it. (Adding the phrase "Please see the history of that page for full attribution" is still a good idea) — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:07, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Jkadavoor, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:17, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pareronia hippia

Hi, as you edited Pareronia hippia and appear to be interested in this subject area I was wondering is you would review the last 2 edits that NekoEcho made claiming the male/female designations where reversed. All the online sources I can find disagree with this change.[1][2][3] [4][5] Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 10:55, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks KylieTastic; reverted. Jee 16:27, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
