Requets

Hello. Help more sources and expand the newspaper Maureen Wroblewitz. Thanks you very much.171.248.246.158 (talk) 09:53, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to assist, but you'll have to be more specific. I suggest you create an account to facilitate discussion. --Muhandes (talk) 09:56, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Muhandes, I wanted to add another link instead of that in the Information box, but I wasn't able to do so on the page of Ahmedabad University. Can you add this link https://ahduni.edu.in/sanjay-lalbhai instead of that link? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JP2300 (talkcontribs) 04:01, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@JP2300: I'm afraid there is some misunderstanding. That small number in square brackets beside the name is not a link, it is an inline citation. Its only purpose is to verify that Sanjay Lalbhai is the Chancellor of Ahmedabad University. As such, the existing citation[1] is sufficient and there is no reason to add another, unless the new citation is in some way superior. In this case citing the "Leadership" page is superior as it proves the exact point needed. --Muhandes (talk) 07:21, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

References

  1. ^ "University Leadership". ahduni.edu.in. Ahmedabad University. Retrieved 8 March 2018.

Yes, I was saying about that the inline citation. Okay, i think your point is correct! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.227.196.147 (talk) 07:25, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)

IIMs are not institutes of national importance as you check in this link http://mhrd.gov.in/institutions-national-importance . Better remove the IIMs as well as some other institutions from List of Institutes of National Importance.--143.167.207.94 (talk) 02:23, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I think it's a good idea to leave an explanation on the talk page explaining this. Why not open an account to ease communication? --Muhandes (talk) 12:52, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
 Done --Muhandes (talk) 13:18, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I had made some changes in name of institution but seems you have reverted them. Changes made to name of Institution were based on notification issued by UGC. You can check the notification issued by UGC for Institutions Deemed to be Universities. Name of institution was renamed to Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University) as per guidelines issued. I hope it make things clear. Nishantkango (talk) 08:19, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nishantkango: I am well aware of the UGC notice, which orders the institute to change its official title, and it is a common mistake to think that this requires us to change the title of the article. However, per WP:COMMONNAME, the name of the article is not the official title anyway, it is the common name, which I believe is still "Maharishi Markandeshwar University" and not the clumsy "Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University)". I believe it will never be "Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University)", most likely it will be "Maharishi Markandeshwar", as odd as this may sound (Karunya for example seems to be going this way). If you wish to change the title, you will have to show that multiple independent reliable sources call it "Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University)". I hope this clarifies the policy. --Muhandes (talk) 16:20, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming changes to wikitext parsing

Hello,

There will be some changes to the way wikitext is parsed during the next few weeks. It will affect all namespaces. You can see a list of pages that may display incorrectly at Special:LintErrors. Since most of the easy problems have already been solved at the English Wikipedia, I am specifically contacting tech-savvy editors such as yourself with this one-time message, in the hope that you will be able to investigate the remaining high-priority pages during the next month.

There are approximately 10,000 articles (and many more non-article pages) with high-priority errors. The most important ones are the articles with misnested tags and table problems. Some of these involve templates, such as infoboxes, or the way the template is used in the article. In some cases, the "error" is a minor, unimportant difference in the visual appearance. In other cases, the results are undesirable. You can see a before-and-after comparison of any article by adding ?action=parsermigration-edit to the end of a link, like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Foss?action=parsermigration-edit (which shows a difference in how {{infobox ship}} is parsed).

If you are interested in helping with this project, please see Wikipedia:Linter. There are also some basic instructions (and links to even more information) at https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-ambassadors/2018-April/001836.html You can also leave a note at WT:Linter if you have questions.

Thank you for all the good things you do for the English Wikipedia. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

sources

Dear Muhandes, I have added available sources; if they are not satisfactory, let it remain archived. No problem. Thank you for the info. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dailux (talkcontribs) 08:18, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Dailux: Regarding Karnataka State Open University, I'm not sure why you say you added available sources, this is the section you added and no reliable source, or in fact any kind of citation is provided. Links to twitter and other external links should not be added either. --Muhandes (talk) 18:32, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please could you specify the false information I'm alleged to have added to Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India. BubbleEngineer (talk) 13:25, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@BubbleEngineer: trout Self-trout It was another editor who added the info, my apologies. --Muhandes (talk) 13:33, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Got your Message

Thanks a lot for your message Muhandes... I really hope to continue editing without any discouragements either ways. It's been kind of tasky trying to create an article since I just joined a month ago. (ReoMartins (talk) 07:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC))[reply]

@ReoMartins: I waited four years before I gathered the guts (and experience) to create an article, but that's how I tick, and there is no real reason not to jump into the water and swim. I'd be happy to assist you if you have something in mind that you want to write about. --Muhandes (talk) 12:05, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Verified Information

i am observing that you are removing a lot of credible information from pages and imposing your thoughts. As far as Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli is concerned i have been student of this institute and the information published was from official documents. There is nothing promotional.Information is information. For Indian Institute of Technology Jammu first take a look at official logo of all IITs they have native name in hindi along with English. For completeness for information it was added there. Many articles use native scripts in the infobox or article. This feature of infobox itself suffices the requirement. No one should erase contents just because they don't fit into someone's views. It takes lot of time and effort to write the content. You are advised to review your thoughts before erasing the content.
