List of Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma characters

The manga series Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, features an extensive cast of characters created by Yuto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. The series primarily takes place at Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, an extremely competitive culinary school of which only a handful of students graduate each year. Students are judged on their cooking in a number of classes and events. Of particular interest is a competition called a shokugeki (anime: food war), a cooking duel held in an indoor arena where students stake their pride and futures as chefs. The storyline follows teenage transfer student Soma Yukihira as he meets other students, some of whom start as rivals and antagonists, especially Erina Nakiri, the granddaughter of the school's dean, but later become allies when the story shifts in the 16th tankōbon volume with the arrival of Azami Nakiri, who brings sweeping changes to the school until his reign ends in 29th tankōbon.

Main characters

Soma Yukihira

Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Japanese); Blake Shepard (English)

Soma Yukihira (幸平 創真, Yukihira Sōma) is a 15-year-old chef who has been working at his father Joichiro's diner, Yukihira Family Restaurant, since he was a young child.^{Ch. 1} His main goal in cooking is to provide the customer with any dish they order anytime they want.^{Ch. 1} When his father closes the diner to work overseas, Soma enrolls in the Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute.^{Ch. 1} Although his future classmate and entrance exam judge Erina Nakiri refuses to accept his dish, Erina's grandfather, the dean of the academy, accepts him, after which he declares in front of the entering class ceremony that he will win the top spot in the school.^{Ch. 2-4} He resides in Polaris Dorm, room 303.^{Ch. 6}

Like his father, Soma enjoys experimenting (although they often have horrible results), sees failure as a learning opportunity, and is normally laid-back until during cooking matches, where he can get quite serious. Due to undergoing regular cooking matches with the far superior Joichiro, Soma has grown not to be afraid of any cooking challenge no matter how insurmountable it seems. He does not have a particular specialty, but rather utilizes his rare creativity to create free-style and innovative dishes to clash with other chefs in order to continuously improve himself.^{Vol. 1}

With his similar style to Jōichiro's cooking, he helps Erina recover from the trauma of her father Azami's sudden reappearance. With the other first-years and former Council of Ten members resistant against the newly established Central and Council of Ten's members, alumni, Jōichiro, Gin and Senzaemon, they work towards overthrowing Central and reclaiming Totsuki in the Regimental de Shokugeki that will ultimately decide the fate of the academy and Yukihira Diner.

During the Regiment De Cuisine, Soma managed to defeat 6th seat, Nene Kinokuni, and 4th seat, Somei Saito. After the Fourth Bout with two chefs remaining in each side, Senzaemon declared the Fifth Bout as the Final Bout, setting it as course format where two of the remaining chefs from each side must make a two course meal, one chef being responsible for making the appetizer and the other responsible for the main dish. Soma is responsible for the appetizer. During the match Soma decides to submit his specialty and use Erina's God Tongue to adjust his dish. When he submits his appetizer the judges consider it more worthy as a main dish which impresses even Azami. However Azami deems this as terrible move and would derail the entire course menu. Soma then convinces Erina to submit a dish that is worthy of being a specialty dish and one that would clash against his own. Erina changes her menu so that her dish would be boosted by Soma's appetizer and made a dish with the bizarre cooking methods used by Soma, and she uses Furikake, which Soma had used in his first dish he ever served to Erina. Eventually, alongside Erina, Soma manages to defeat both the 2nd seat, Rindō Kobayashi, and the 1st seat, Eishi Tsukasa, thus finally putting an end of Azami's reign. Soma tells Azami that it was his mother who helped his father recover his cooking spirit after his troubled past, and Soma himself carries his mother's will with him always.

Following the Rebels' victory, Erina appoints Soma the first seat in the Council of Ten. In return, Soma appoints Erina the headmaster of Totsuki.^{Ch. 263}

Erina Nakiri

Erina Nakiri (薙切 えりな, Nakiri Erina) is a 15-year-old first-year student at Totsuki and the granddaughter of the school's director Senzaemon. She was the valedictorian of Totsuki's junior high and is the youngest student to join the school's Council of Ten Masters. She has long blond hair. She is renowned for her extremely delicate and refined palate, called Divine Tongue (anime: God's Tongue), where she tries foods from the top restaurants in Japan; those whose dishes are judged incompetent have their reputations forever tarnished. During the tasting process, she imagines vivid scenarios such as relaxing in the hot springs and encountering a lowland gorilla in the same springs,^{Ch. 2, Vol. 6 author's notes} or meditating on a waterfall and having a jukebox drop on her head.^{Vol. 1 bonus}

At the start of the series, she conducts the entrance exam for transfer student candidates who must make a dish involving eggs, causing every candidate except for Soma to withdraw. Although she internally recognizes that Soma's dish was impressive, she rejects him because of his "commoner" background, but is later annoyed that Soma was admitted to the school anyway.^{Ch. 2-4} She then vows to make his life miserable.^{Ch. 9, 31}

The only daughter of Azami and an unnamed mother who is Senzaemon's biological daughter, she is abused by Azami which leaves her devastated by his presence, the latter's whose ultimate goal was to develop Erina as the embodiment of his "true gourmet food" by perfecting her Divine Tongue ability. Following that, Erina is taken in by Senzaemon and Azami is exiled. People like Hisako, Alice and Jōichiro then help her recover in the aftermath. When Azami returns and seizes control of the academy him, Alice, Ryo and Hisako help Erina escape from the Nakiri mansion to take refuge at Polaris Dormitory, where the residents welcome her.^{Ch. 138} Surprised by their defiance of her Divine Tongue and their creative ideas, her world of haute cuisine opens up and lets her be more accepting of Soma's cooking after learning that Soma was Joichiro's son, which also helps her recover from her father's influence. Not wanting to serve under Azami any longer, she finds the courage to leave the Council to lead the rebel team, and wins her match against newly promoted 3rd seat Momo Akanegakubo in a confection-themed match,^{Ch. 247}

Following the Rebels' victory, Erina is appointed the new headmaster of Totsuki, following her grandfather's official announcement of his retirement.^{Ch. 263}

Megumi Tadokoro

Voiced by: Minami Takahashi (Japanese); Jad Saxton (English)

Megumi Tadokoro (田所 恵, Tadokoro Megumi) is Soma's classmate at Totsuki and next-door dormmate at Polaris. Hoping to help her family's bed-and-breakfast the Shokei'en Inn, she leaves her snowy harbor town in the Tōhoku region, and enrolls in Totsuki's junior high program.^{Ch. 57} However, her shyness and stage fright causes her to perform poorly; she ranks at the bottom of the class and is placed on academic probation at the start of her first high school year,^{Ch. 5, 14} It also takes her three months to pass the Polaris Dorm entrance exam.^{Ch. 7} After meeting Soma, she boosts her courage and confidence, and she improves her grades. She enjoys making comfort foods which impart feelings of familial love and nostalgia in those who taste her dishes.^{Ch. 14, 26} She has experience with dried and pickled vegetables, having dealt with them back in her home town.^{Ch. 25} Outside of cooking, she is also a table tennis player, winning prefectural tournaments in elementary school and having turned down going to a sports junior high.^{Ch. 39}

During the first-year cooking camp, she is fired by alumni judge Shinomiya for altering his dish. When Soma tries to stand up for her, challenging Shinomiya to a shokugeki, director Gin Dojima arranges for Megumi to face Shinomiya in the competition. Although she initially loses that match, the other alums, including Gin Dojima, pitch in their support, and she is retained.^{Ch. 21-26} She later qualifies for the main tournament in the Fall Classic.^{Vol. 8 intro}

She saves her Regional Cuisine club from being shut down with the introduction of Azami's new plans. A fellow supporter of Soma and her friends, she helped him set up and man his booth during the Moon Festival and connects with Erina on a deep level. Along with Soma and Takumi, she is one of the three first-year rebels (apart from Erina) who passed the Promotional Exams. Megumi managed to overcome her trauma from Shinomiya, as the latter trained her to face the newly promoted 3rd Seat Momo Akanegakubo in the Regimental de Cuisine Shokugeki that will ultimately decide the fate of the academy. Megumi showcased her new strengths and determination in a Dorayaki dish with hidden confiture filing. The judges acknowledged her talent, however it wasn't enough to defeat Momo, as Megumi lost 2 against 1 votes however her dish gave Erina a inspiration to defeat Momo in the next bout.

Four months after the Rebels' victory, she is promoted into the tenth seat of Council of Ten.^{Ch. 263} She also travels to several countries to learn about cooking and hospitality in France, Mexico, Spain, and the Middle East.

Supporting characters

Polaris Dormitory

Polaris Dormitory is a student residence within Totsuki, intended to house less affluent students. In order to become a resident, students must first cook a dish to the satisfaction of the dormitory manager Fumio.^{Ch. 6} The dorm uses a series of speaking tubes,^{Ch. 6} and its facilities include vegetable gardens, pens, and workshops.^{Ch. 14} Because of the success of former students Gin Dojima and Joichiro Saiba (Soma's father), the dorm has become a "fully independent and profitable entity on its own".^{Ch. 41} Other former residents include Jun Shiomi and Azami Nakamura.

Fumio Daimido

Voiced by: Mari Yokoo, Hitomi Nabatame (young) (Japanese); Joanne Bonasso (English)

Fumio Daimidō (大御堂 ふみ緒, Daimidō Fumio), who goes by Miss Fumio, is the caretaker and dorm matron of Polaris; an elderly lady with greying, backwards-combed, spiked hair. As the "Maria of Polaris", she administers a cooking test that students must pass to become residents. At first glance she is intimidating and stern, but Fumio is actually a caring mother-figure to all the residents.^{Ch. 6} Fumio has pride in the past achievements of the residents of the dormitory, which for a time held the top three seats on the Council of Ten. She still maintains contact with Gin, and will receive Joichiro on his sporadic visits.^{Ch. 41}

Satoshi Isshiki

Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai (Japanese); Scott Gibbs (English)

Satoshi Isshiki (一色 慧, Isshiki Satoshi) is a second-year student at Polaris and the oldest student in the dorm. A handsome guy, he occupies the seventh seat of the Council of Ten.^{Ch. 7} He has a few quirks such as visiting people's rooms through the ceiling tiles, and often appearing half-naked, wearing nothing but an apron and sometimes a fundoshi (thong loincloth).^{Ch. 7} He supports his underclassmen at the dormitory, and strongly believes in enjoying youth, often waking them up to help with managing the dorm's back garden at the crack of dawn. While his tendencies and habits indicate a carefree, happy-go-lucky youth, he demonstrates immense cooking skills. He is popular among the food industry, especially with Orie Sendawara who flirtatiously recruits him to her business during the Fall Classic.^{Ch. 49} Outside of cooking, Satoshi is talented in table tennis, comparable in skill to Megumi.^{Ch. 39} He has a start-up selling the vegetables that he grows in Polaris garden to small businesses.^{Ch. 60-61}

Yuki Yoshino

Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (Japanese); Luci Christian (English)

Yūki Yoshino (吉野 悠姫, Yoshino Yūki) is a petite, energetic girl and a first-year resident in room 116.^{Ch. 7} Characterised by her double-bun hairstyle and hyperactive attitude, she often acts childishly, teases the other students, and reacts to situations with exaggerated mannerisms. A running gag shows her to be envious of well-endowed girls like her best friend Ryoko due to her flat chest.^{Ch. 39, 53 side story} Her specialty is cooking wild game, and to do so she raises and breeds a large number of game animals and poultry, including deer and boar, which she often lets roam freely in the dorm halls.^{Ch. 7} In the Fall Classic preliminaries, she prepares a duck curry.^{Ch. 56} and finishes 7th in her block.^{Vol. 8 intro} When Azami takes over Totsuki, she is expelled from the school as a member of the rebel team during Azami's reign.

Shun Ibusaki

Voiced by: Taishi Murata (Japanese); Houston Hayes (English)

Shun Ibusaki (伊武崎 峻, Ibusaki Shun) is a first-year resident, occupying room 208.^{Ch. 7} He has messy hair that usually covers his eyes, and a quiet nature.^{Ch. 7} His specialty is smoked food,^{Ch. 7} where he is nicknamed the Prince of Smoke.^{Ch. 55} In the Fall Classic preliminaries, he presents a curry smoked with applewood,^{Ch. 55} and places fifth overall in his block.^{Vol. 8 intro, Ch. 59}

During a stagiare at a French restaurant, Shun took inspiration from his friends Soma and Megumi, and pushed himself to try and surpass their cooking level.

Shun was later defeated during the promotional exams and is expelled. He and his fellow expelled students are left to watch by the sidelines as Soma and the others take on Central in the Regiment de Cuisine. Four months after the Rebels' victory, Shun received so many Shokugeki challenges and won easily.

Zenji Marui

Voiced by: Yūsuke Kobayashi (Japanese); Greg Ayres (English)

Zenji Marui (丸井 善二, Marui Zenji), is a first-year student and lives in room 205 of Polaris. He has bobbed hair and oversized glasses, and prefers to study quietly, however, his large room is often commandeered by his dorm-mates for parties and social activities.^{Ch. 7} He is the star pupil of Professor Takao Miyazato's Seminar, despite being a first-year. Without innate special talents, and having below average physical strength and stamina, he uses knowledge to research cooking styles to make his dishes. His club gives him the nickname "The Professor of Taste". During the Fall Classic preliminaries, he presents a potage-blanc curry udon,^{Ch. 55} and places fifth overall in his block.^{Vol. 8 intro, Ch. 59} In the anime Central arc, Marui won the Shokugeki against Central, and saved his home club.

Ryoko Sakaki

Voiced by: Ai Kayano (Japanese); Kelley Peters (English)

Ryoko Sakaki (榊 涼子, Sakaki Ryōko) is a tall, mature-looking girl with long hair and large bust, residing in room 112.^{Ch. 14} She is gentle and kind, acting like a big sister,^{Vol. 6 profiles} responding to the eccentrics of the other Polaris residents in a level-headed manner and comforting the other students when they are troubled. Her specialty is shio koji (rice malt) and has a warehouse near the dorm where she does fermentation processing.^{Ch. 14} Her parents owning a well-known fermented-goods shop, and she maintains a workshop near the dorms to produce her own ingredients. She also keeps a bottle of "fermented rice drink" that she would sometimes bring out during parties and celebrations, which Soma suspects is illegally brewed sake.^{Ch. 7} In the anime series, her hair is purple and her eyes are orange.

During the Fall Classic preliminaries, she presents a natto curry flavored with shoyu koji. The dish garners praise from the judges, who are reminded of a Japanese festival.^{Ch. 54} She ultimately finishes seventh in her block.^{Vol. 8 intro, Ch. 59}

Daigo Aoki and Shoji Sato

Voiced by: Junichi Yanagita (Japanese); Andrew Love (English) (Daigo)
Voiced by: Kengo Kawanishi (Japanese); Corey Hartzog (English) (Shōji)

Daigo Aoki (青木 大吾, Aoki Daigo) and Shōji Satō (佐藤 昭二, Satō Shōji) are two muscular dormmates who tend to fight over everything, but are united when it comes to defending the honor of the dormitory and its members, having a supporting or background role in the story.^{Ch. 50} These two fought since they were in middle school when Aoki stole Sato's favorite toy. During one of their cook-offs, Aoki thought it would be funny to get revenge by ruining one of Sato's dishes by adding salt to it. Since then they continue to fight over everything.

Totsuki first-year students

Hisako Arato

Voiced by: Saori Ōnishi (Japanese); Brittney Karbowski (English)

Erina's aide with short pink hair,^{Ch. 2-4, Vol. 7 profile} whose name is revealed to be Hisako Arato (新戸 緋沙子, Arato Hisako) during the Fall Classic preliminaries in chapter 52. She helps Erina with many of the administrative duties, having retained her position in her second year of junior high by defeating rival student Nao Sadatsuka in a shokugeki.^{Ch. 52} She specializes in medicinal cooking, which is based on natural remedies and Chinese medicine to improve health. This comes from her family who is in the Chinese medicine business.^{Ch. 52} In the main tournament of the Fall Classic where she was defeated by Hayama, who told her that someone who only aims to be second could never beat him. This hurt Hisako's pride and caused her to feel unworthy of being near Erina. While partnered with Soma for their stagiaire, Hisako reveals her insecurities but Soma convinces her otherwise and she cheers-up. They then worked together to improve their assigned restaurant with Hisako acting as the restaurant's auditor and business manager while Soma handled the kitchen. Hisako has since returned to Erina's side and become friendlier towards Soma.

Hisako once read an old cooking-magazine that featured Erina's father, Azami, but Hisako's own father warned her against ever asking about Azami. When Azami returns and replaces Senzaemon as the academy's director, Hisako is fired as Erina's aide and becomes extremely depressed. Hisako, Alice and Ryō convince Erina to leave the Nakiri mansion, taking shelter inside the Polaris Dormitory where Hisako reveals Erina's history. Hisako leaves Erina in their care, though she would visit every day to bring Erina a change of clothes. Hisako was defeated by Saito during the promotional exams and is expelled. She and her fellow expelled students are left to watch by the sidelines as Soma and the others take on Central in the Regiment de Cuisine. Four months after the Rebels' victory, she regain her position as Erina's aide once more.

In the footnotes for chapter 52, Hisako is regarded by the story writer as "one of the prettiest traditional beauties in the series".

Ikumi Mito

Voiced by: Shizuka Ishigami (Japanese); Rachel Landon (English)

Ikumi Mito (水戸 郁魅, Mito Ikumi) is a first-year student with light hair and dark skin who often wears a variety of flamboyant bikini tops covered by a tied dress shirt.^{Ch. 11} Known as the "Master of Meat", she is among the top students of her year, with her meat-based dishes always scoring A's. She strongly dislikes the nickname "Nikumi", a portmanteau of the Japanese word for "meat" and her given name.^{Ch. 10} She is the heir to a large meat distributor and conglomerate, which has a near-monopoly on the national beef market, allowing her access to exceptionally high-quality ingredients, especially A5 grade beef, which is so tender that it doesn't have to be chewed.^{Ch. 11} Nikumi's talent with meat lies in her incredibly sensitive lips, allowing her to accurately judge the temperature of meat with a single taste.^{Ch. 12}

She initially appears as a representative of Erina in trying to drive out the Donburi Bowl Research Society, but loses a shokugeki to Soma, and is forced to join the club.^{Ch. 10-13} She develops a crush on Soma afterwards, helping him save his local business district from a competing fried chicken chain store.^{Ch. 35-38} In the Fall Classic preliminaries, she finishes seventh overall in her block, tying with Ryoko.^{Vol. 8 intro, Ch. 59} During the Moon Banquet Festival, she and her club open a booth which places third in sales for her area. Nikumi opposed the new curriculum of the Azami Administration, and was able to win a Shokugeki to save the Donburi club. However, targeted as a rebel during Central's Promotional Exams, she was defeated by Momo on the third exam and expelled. She and her fellow expelled students are left to watch by the sidelines as Soma and the others take on Central in the Regiment de Cuisine.

Takumi Aldini

Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae (Japanese); Bryson Baugus (English)

Takumi Aldini (タクミ・アルディーニ, Takumi Arudīni) is a chef from Florence, Italy; he has blond hair and blue eyes, coming from a Japanese father and Italian mother.^{Ch. 17} He initiates a rivalry with Soma, viewing him as someone similar to himself. He has worked along with his twin brother Isami since they were five years old at their uncle's restaurant, and transfer into Totsuki's Junior High in their second year.^{Ch. 16-17} Forsooth, his specialty is Italian cuisine, although he retains a broad vision that lets him incorporate ingredients and methods from other culinary styles to create inventive dishes, much like Soma. He is noted as being extremely handsome, having fan clubs in his hometown.^{Vol. 3 side story}

During the Fall Classics, Takumi inadvertently got caught in between Eizan Etsuya's grudge against Soma, causing him to be defeated by Eizan's puppet, the master stalker Mimasaka Subaru, for a spot in the Semi-finals against Soma. On top of which, his Mezzaluna was lost to Subaru, only to be won back by Soma afterwards, crushing his pride even further. Despite their rivalry, both he and Soma greatly respect each other, and likely view each other as friends outside of the arena.

Takumi survived the botched 3rd phase of the Promotional Exams under Azami's Central, along with Megumi and Soma. He eventually learnt that Eizan was the mastermind for his humiliating defeat back in Fall Classics, and Takumi picked Eizan as his opponent for a revenge match in the Regimen de Cuisine. He demonstrated his resolve and growth in the match; and ironically, by using stalking tips from Mimasaka. He overcame Eizan's attempted sabotage of his dish by incorporating his opponent's dish as part of his meal plan in the match, unanimously winning. Although Takumi lost to Rindo Kobayashi in the 4th fourth bout of the Regiment De Cuisine, he manage to get a tip from his fellow senior teammate and former Council of Ten third seat Tosuke about Rindo's weaknesses for his remaining teammates' final battle, should Takumi also lost to her. Four months after Rebels' victory, Takumi is promoted to the seventh seat, honorably succeeding Isshiki while dethroning Eizan into eight seat, who is made pardoned on behalf of Soma's wisdom.

Takumi and his brother Isami are the main characters of the Shokugeki no Soma – Fratelli Aldini spinoff manga which focuses on their time in Italy before going to Totsuki.

Isami Aldini

Voiced by: Yūki Ono (Japanese); Clint Bickham (English)

Isami Aldini (イサミ・アルディーニ, Isami Arudīni) is Takumi's younger twin brother; but he has dark hair and is overweight at the first-year camp,^{Ch. 16} He too has worked at his uncle's restaurant in Italy since they were five, and strives to be praised for his cooking like Takumi. The spin-off manga Shokugeki no Soma – Fratelli Aldini focuses on the brothers' time in Italy. He and Takumi transfer to Totsuki's junior high program in their second year.^{Ch. 16-17}

At the Fall Classic preliminaries, where he is noticeably thinner in appearance,^{Ch. 47} he presents a tomato-curry calzone, and placed fifth overall in his block.^{Ch. 56, Vol. 8 intro} He tries to support Takumi in his quarter-finals match against Subaru Mimasaka, but was devastated when Takumi lost to his own dish. He and Takumi opened a booth during the Moon Banquet Festival, naming it a branch of Trattoria Aldini, and gained first place in sales in their area. He is targeted as a rebel by the Azami Administration's Promotional Exams, defeated by Eishi on the third exam and expelled. Isami and his fellow expelled students are left to watch by the sidelines as Soma and the others take on Central in the Regiment de Cuisine.

Alice Nakiri

Voiced by: Chinatsu Akasaki (Japanese); Christina Kelly (English)

Alice Nakiri (薙切 アリス, Nakiri Arisu) is Erina Nakiri's cousin, introduced in the first-year cooking camp.^{Ch. 28, 33} She has pale skin and short light hair.^{Ch. 29} Her mother is Danish and her father is Japanese. She lives with Erina while her father went to Denmark to found a culinary research organization focused on molecular gastronomy, a scientific approach to cooking. At five years old, she joins her parents there,^{Ch. 33} and wins many awards in gastronomy.^{Ch. 62} She returns to Japan to enroll in Totsuki at age 14 with the intent of besting Erina and taking the top spot in the school.^{Ch. 33}

Like Erina, Alice has a haughty attitude, but she is more concerned about her image, often checking with her aide that he has positioned himself to present her with the perfect angle.^{Ch. 33, 40} Unlike Erina, Alice is much more friendly and sociable with her competition.^{Ch. 33} She likes to tease Erina for her lack of knowledge on common matters such as dating and romance, but she herself also lacks that experience.

Alice's dishes look like art pieces. At the cooking camp, she presents a trio of egg dishes which turn out to be different from their apperances, and in the Fall Classic Preliminaries, presents a strange looking curry dish that scores the highest among the chefs.^{Vol. 8 intro} However, in the quarterfinals, she loses to Soma because her bento dish merely showcases her skills and the food presented but does not fully utilize the novelty and features of a bento stack.^{Ch. 66} Despite crying over the loss,^{Ch. 67} she decides to be amicable towards Soma and the others.^{Ch. 68}

Alice knew from her parents of Azami's cruel treatment toward Erina as well as the fact that he destroyed her letters to Erina. Alice, Ryō, and Hisako convince Erina to escape from the Nakiri mansion and shelter at the Polaris Dorm. She despises Azami and was not afraid to publicly berate him after Kurokiba managed to win his Shokugeki and save their Cutting Edge RS. Unfortunately, during the Promotional Exams targeting the rebels, Alice and Ryō are defeated by the Council of Ten and expelled from the academy. She and her fellow expelled rebels only managed to watch from the sidelines as the others take on Central in the Regimental Shokugeki. Four months after the Rebels' victory, Alice is promoted to the sixth seat of Council of Ten, succeeding Nene Kinokuni.

Ryo Kurokiba

Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto (Japanese); Leraldo Anzaldua (English)

Alice Nakiri's aide,^{Ch. 33, Vol. 7 profile} whose name is revealed to be Ryo Kurokiba (黒木場 リョウ, Kurokiba Ryō) in chapter 53 during the Fall Classic preliminaries. As a young boy, he is the executive chef of a pub in a rowdy port-district in Denmark.^{Ch. 69} At first, he appears to be inattentive, lazy, and subservient to Alice, quipping back at her and commenting in a deadpan manner, but his demeanor changes when he puts on his headband to cook: he takes on an aggressive appearance, with sharp eyes and a savage grin. In the manga, he had been described as a "mad dog" and a "dictator in the kitchen".^{Ch. 69} He considers the kitchen to be a battlefield between a cook and his customers, and believes that a chef should make a customer submit to his tastes.

Ryo's specialty is seafood dishes, and his cooking has frequently been described as "violent" and "forceful", characterized by rich and sharp flavors.^{Ch. 53} At the Fall Classic, Ryo places second in his block.^{Ch. 59} He defeats Megumi in the quarter-finals of the tournament and ties with Akira at the semi-finals, in a match represented by a Yu-Gi-Oh!-style fantasy battle, then went on to a three-way final against Akira and Soma. After losing to Akira, Ryō sought to improve his skills with spices at an Indian restaurant during the stagiaire period. Ryō later accompanies Alice in aiding Erina's escape from Azami at the Nakiri mansion. Ryō challenges a Central sophomore Rentarō Kusunoki to a Shokugeki for insults underestimating the freshmen chefs, defeating him and defended the Cutting Edge RS. However, Ryō and Alice are defeated by the Council of Ten during the Promotional Exams, and are expelled. He and his fellow expelled students are left to watch by the sidelines as Soma and the others take on Central in the Regiment de Cuisine. Four months after the Rebels' victory, Ryo is promoted to the fifth seat of Council of Ten, succeeding Somei Saito and Shoko Kaburagi.

Nao Sadatsuka

Voiced by: Saori Gotō (anime)

Nao Sadatsuka (貞塚 ナオ, Sadatsuka Nao) is a girl with long dark hair covering her face who is obsessed with Erina.^{Ch. 40} She despises Hisako,^{Ch. 40} after losing a shokugeki to her in junior high over who gets to be Erina's aide. She is then required to stay at least 50 meters from Erina at all times, but Nao still stalks Erina from afar and writes her 30 letters per day.^{Ch. 52} Known as the Cauldron Witch, she specializes in dishes that involve boiling and simmering with ingredients that generate hideous smells, but taste good, making her earn the first high score in the Fall Classic preliminaries,^{Ch. 51} although ultimately finishing eighth in her block.^{Vol. 8 intro} After Hisako upstages her, she starts thinking of obsessing over Hisako instead.^{Ch. 52} During the academy's Moon Banquet Festival, Nao becomes friends with Soma due to their shared interest in making weird dishes.

Miyoko Hojo

Voiced by: Asami Seto (anime)

Miyoko Hojo (北条 美代子, Hōjō Miyoko)^{Ch. 40} is the heir of a Chinese cuisine restaurant in Yokohama's Chinatown, Her specialty is Chinese techniques and wok maneuvers, although some of the guys admire her because she is busty and wears a cheongsam dress.^{Ch. 49} Because she was looked down upon by the cooks at her father's restaurant because of her sex, she has a low opinion of men in general; she dislikes that Megumi credits her success in the shokugeki with Shinomiya to Soma.^{Ch. 50} However, after Megumi advances to the quarterfinals, she tells her she will be rooting for her.^{Ch. 60} She is later invited by Terunori Kūga to join his Chinese Cuisine RS, but she refuses. She finds him to annoying and too narrowly focused on Szechuan cooking. She also mentions that her relationship with the employees of her father's restaurant has started to improve since the Fall Classic.

Akira Hayama

Voiced by: Junichi Suwabe (Japanese); Kregg Dailey (English)

Akira Hayama (葉山 アキラ, Hayama Akira) is a first-year student and the assistant for Professor Jun Shiomi. He is a tall and handsome man with tanned skin and silver hair. He looks after Shiomi like a big brother, covering her forgetfulness of watering their spice plants.^{Ch. 45} Akira specializes in curry dishes, with a wide knowledge of spices and aromas, taking Shiomi's theories and trying them in the kitchen. He is able to determine the condition of a curry pot by smell alone, and without even looking inside^{Ch. 45} Eight years prior to the series, he lives overseas in the slums as an orphan when he meets Jun Shiomi and warns her about diluted spices in a market.^{Ch. 57}

At the Fall Classic preliminaries, Akira receives the highest score in his block.^{Ch. 59} He defeats Hisako in the quarter-finals, and tires with Ryō in the semi-finals.. This led to a three-way final with Soma, which Akira won.

The Azami Administration disbanded the Shiomi seminar, compromised the seminar's business partnerships, and held their research data hostage to extort Akira's allegiance. Compelled by his love for Jun, Akira joined the ranks of Central as a temporary 9th seat on the Council of Ten, vowing to protect the Shiomi seminar, despite Jun's objection because Azami is not trustworthy. In the Promotional Exams, Akira is ordered to defeat Soma again. Though he seemed to have the upper hand, Dojima Gin noted that Akira had lost the desire to cook to make someone (i.e.: Jun) happy, harkening back to a similar warning by Gin to him back in the Fall Classics. Tasting Soma's dish, Akira realizes what he'd lost; and Akira thanks Soma for redeeming him, but knowing his lost meant he is expelled for his failure from beginning as a result due to his previous status as a blackmailed Central member. He and his fellow expelled students are left to watch by the sidelines as Soma and the others take on Central in the Regiment de Cuisine. Four months after the Rebels' victory, and due to Akira's status from being forcefully siding with Central has been quickly cleared, he re-enters back to a now restored Council of Ten, while being ranked up to the fourth seat, succeeding Somei Saito and Momo Akanegakubo.

Subaru Mimasaka

Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto (Japanese); Rob Mungle (English)

The chef who secures the fourth spot in his block at the Fall Classic preliminaries,^{Ch. 59}, Subaru Mimasaka (美作 昴, Mimasaka Subaru)^{Ch. 73} is a heavily-built student with hair styled in a braided mohawk.^{Ch. 59, 73} Despite his look, he's smarter than he appears and has a strong sense for details. He has no specialty, but painstakingly researches and copies the chefs he faces, predicting the exact dish they will make and marginally improving upon it. He loves intense cooking-duels and totally defeating his opponent, so he always bets his opponent's precious tool at Shokugekis. He is a gracious host and not averse to having a casual chat with future opponents. However, before and during a match he will mock, belittle and set out to destroy his opponent.

He insults Takumi and his brother, provoking Takumi to bet his mezzaluna, and having previously stalked Takumi and investigated his preparations, Subaru copies Takumi's dish with a slight improvement. Although the judges dislike his actions and methods, Subaru's dish is judged superior. This leads Soma to challenge Subaru to give back all 100 cooking tools he'd won, against the total defeat of Soma quitting being a cook. Soma circumvents Subaru's research method by waiting until the competition starts before thinking of ways to improve his dish, something Subaru didn't believe was possible. After his defeat, Subaru tries to leave Tōtsuki and quit as a cook but Soma convinces him to continue his studies. Subaru later appears when Soma asks for assistance at his stall during the Moon Banquet Festival. In preparation for this, Subaru went to the Yukihira diner in order to do his "image training", and was able to accurately copy Soma, allowing the booth to increase production and sales.

During Azami's regime on "Promotional Exams", Subaru started out as neutral, until the third half where most of Soma's rebel friends except Takumi and Megumi are expelled, Subaru joins the rebel team led by Erina, as its 8th member during Regimental de Cuisine match as a mean to settle his debt he repaid to Soma. He upgraded his copying skills to another level: like a flash from a strobe camera, he is now able to copy his opponents just by a brief glance. Despite his lost in the second bout, his opponent, Saito conceded that his upgraded trace skills has made Mimasaka so formidable, that it's like facing his own shadow. Before the third bout of the Regiment match begin on day 2, Mimasaka trains both Soma, Takumi and Megumi few tips and weaknesses he traced from one of the remaining Central's Council of Ten members during his time training for the regiment match , especially from his previous second bout match against Saito.

Other Totsuki students

Kanichi Konishi

Voiced by: Shinji Kawada (anime)

Kanichi Konishi (小西 寛一, Konishi Kan'ichi) is the second-year student and president of the Donburi Bowl Research Society. He has a pompadour hair style. When he first meets Soma, his club is on the verge of being disbanded because of ongoing pressure from Erina Nakiri, leading him with no choice but to have a shokugeki with one of her lackeys Ikumi Mito.^{Ch. 10} When Soma wins the match, the club is saved, and Ikumi is forced to join as a member,^{Ch. 13} during which Kanichi embarrasses her by acting like a doting parent. After the Fall Classic tournament, the Donburi Society and gains more members.

Urara Kawashima

Voiced by: Rina Hidaka (Japanese); Jennifer Gilbert (English)

Urara Kawashima (川島 麗, Kawashima Urara) is the master of ceremonies for the shokugeki competitions and other events at Totsuki.^{Ch. 12, 40} She greatly enjoys the attention she gets from her male fans and audience, and greatly dislikes it when other women take this attention from her.^{Ch. 12, 49, 56} After the Azami takeover of Tōtsuki, Urara is one of the students to be brainwashed by Central but her malicious nature vanishes and after smelling Momo's Apple Tart, then eventually Rebels' victory.

Yua Sasaki

Voiced by: Rina Hidaka (Japanese); Margaret McDonald (English)

Yua Sasaki (佐々木 由愛, Sasaki Yua) is the other Master of Ceremonies at the Fall Classic during the preliminary round when the event is split into two blocks. Unlike Urara, she is fairly quiet, stutters and has trouble keeping the attention of the audience.^{Ch. 53-55}

Mitsuru Sotsuda

Mitsuru Sōtsuda (早津田 みつる, Sōtsuda Mitsuru)

Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita (Japanese); Patrick Poole (English)

Mitsuru is a third-year middle school student at Tōtsuki Culinary Academy and a member of the Newspaper Club. He is a cute middle school student who worships Soma and follows him with all his reporter equipment.

Tetsuji Kabutoyama

Tetsuji Kabutoyama (甲山 鉄次, Kabutoyama Tetsuji)

Tetsuji is a second-year student at Totsuki and a member of Skewer Research Society. He is known as the Iron Skewer for his skewer-cooking techniques and has a Shokugeki winning rate of 80%. He took an interest in Soma after seeing his cooking during the Fall Classics. He challenged Soma to a Shokugeki after Soma returned from the stagiaire period, but was defeated, and as a result promised to teach Soma about skewering.

Tetsuji and the Skewer RS participated in the Moon Banquet Festival by opening a stall that won second place in sales for their area. Days later, Tetsuji opposed the disbandment of the Skewer RS under the Azami Administration, and challenged Eizan Etsuya to a Shokugeki while betting his expulsion from Tōtsuki should he lose. However, Eizan's victory was announced before the judges tasted the dishes, causing Tetsuji to accuse Eizan of bribery which he indirectly confirms. Nonetheless, Tetsuji is expelled. Ever since Soma defeats Eizan and his rigged cooking game, just as Satoshi manage to create a fair Survival's Purge match before Azami kicks him out of the Council of Ten on the next day where the Purge begins, many Rebels demands Tetsuji's return to the academy.

Tōtsuki staff

Senzaemon Nakiri

Voiced by: Banjō Ginga (Japanese); John Swasey (English)

Senzaemon Nakiri (薙切 仙左衛門, Nakiri Senzaemon) is Erina's grandfather, the patriarch of the Nakiri family, and the Dean of Tōtsuki Saryo Culinary Institute. He is known as the "Gastric Godfather" in the culinary world.^{Ch. 4} He has the tendency of stripping his upper body clothing when he eats a good dish.^{Ch. 66} Despite his appearance and reputation, he is reasonable and gives accurate commentary and assessment for the food he tastes without being overly critical to the losers.

Many years previously, Senzaemon and Gin noticed Joichiro Saiba's critical condition at the start of a tournament, and took upon themselves some of the blame for pressuring Joichiro into becoming mentally trapped in the creation of his dishes. Feeling Joichiro's talent was beyond the tasks of the academy, Senzaemon freed his former student to travel abroad and learn independently, a proposal Joichiro happily accepted, as well as Gin, whom Senzaemon offered him as the head of resort planner as a mean to atone their sins to ensure no one will face the same fate that befell Joichiro before. For a period thereafter, Senzaemon hired Joichiro as his private chef.

Six years ago, Senzaemon exiled his son-in-law, Azami, for abusing Erina with brainwashing. Senzaemon became Erina's legal guardian and had Azami's name struck from the Tōtsuki records. However, Azami returns with the majority of the Council of Ten vote to support Azami as headmaster, replacing Senzaemon. In the aftermath, Senzaemon revealed to Soma that he advised Joichiro to have him apply to the academy. Senzaemon remains active behind-the-scenes with Joichiro, working through tips from informants to take control from Azami. During a third bout of Regiment match day 2, it is revealed that most of the 92nd generation students were handpicked by Senzaemon, and the former headmaster always puts his faith on those students he trust. When Soma, Erina, Eishi and Rindō are the only chefs left on their respective teams, Senzaemon declares the 5th bout as a Tag Team Final Bout, under agreement with Azami on letting the latter be one of three new judges for the final match, safe for Anne. After the Rebels' victory, Senzaemon officially announce his retirement, with Soma, now the newly appointed current Council of Ten first seat appoints Erina as her grandfather's replacement as a new headmaster.

Roland Chapelle

Voiced by: Yū Mizushima (Japanese); John Gremillion (English)

Roland Chapelle is a French chef and lecturer at Totsuki, head of its French Cuisine Division. He is nicknamed "The Chef Who Doesn't Smile" due to his high standards and stern demeanor, giving either A's or E's (lowest grade) in his class. Soma is one of the few students to ever make him smile from a dish, in which, Chapelle apologizes that he could not give a higher grade.^{Ch. 4}

Roland is among the staff first told of the Azami Administration's new curriculum, which leaves him shocked and ultimately in opposition to the "gourmet utopia" plan which he calls a dystopia. Roland is happy when Soma wins a critical Shokugeki against Eizan, who had bribed the judges, and believes that Soma and the other rebels will restore Tōtsuki's lost honor. After the second survivor purge, Roland is horrified at Azami's actions in brainwashing the middle-school chef students into copies of Azami. Four months after the Rebels' victory against Central in Regiment match, Roland is seen happily chating with Jun.

Jun Shiomi

Voiced by: Mikako Takahashi (Japanese); Monica Rial (English)

Jun Shiomi (汐見 潤, Shiomi Jun), age 34, is a professor at Totsuki who teaches second-year general classes and a seminar specializing in spices. An alumna of the 74th graduating class and a former resident of Polaris during the dorm's golden age, she taste-tested many of Joichiro's cooking experiments, which left her traumatized enough to hate anything to do with him. She wears her hair in a ponytail and wears glasses, but her petite stature and dressing in t-shirts makes her appear like a junior high school student.^{Ch. 44-45} She grows spices from all over the world in her lab.^{Ch. 45} She is a very timid, shy, and reserved person. While researching spices overseas at age 26, Jun meets Akira Hayama and, recognizing his talent, brings him to Japan to mentor and take care of him.^{Ch. 57}

Under the Azami Administration, Jun's research seminar was threatened. Azami used this to extort Akira into joining Central, leaving Jun broken-hearted after trying to warn Akira that Azami cannot be trusted many times. Jun left the academy in protest, reappearing at Dojima Gin's invitation during the third phase of the Promotional Exams to witness Akira and Soma's match, where a repentant Hayama lost. Jun rebuked Akira for being reckless in joining Central and expressed that despite losing the research society, she only wanted him to continue to grow as a chef with his classmates and enjoy cooking from his heart. Four months after the Rebels' victory against Central in Regiment match, Jun finally re-open back her seminar, and is seen happily chating with Roland, presumably chatting about how her seminar gained more members.

Takao Miyazato

Takao Miyazato (宮里 隆夫, Miyazato Takao) is the president of the Shokugeki Administration Bureau. He wears glasses and has a bushy mustache. He runs a seminar that focuses on the academic knowledge of culinary and gastronomical topics. Zenji Marui attends as a first-year and is one of his top students.^{Ch. 55}

Totsuki alumni

Joichiro Yukihira

Voiced by: Rikiya Koyama (Japanese); Jay Hickman (English)

Joichiro Yukihira (幸平 城一郎, Yukihira Jōichirō) is Soma's father and owner of Yukihira Family Restaurant.^{Ch. 1} in the Sumire Shopping District. He teaches Soma the family business and challenges him to many cook-offs that have always ended in the former's victory. Like Soma, he takes his cooking seriously but also enjoys creating horrible experimental dishes. At the start of the series, he closes the diner in order to travel and work as a guest chef at the world's top restaurants. He sends Soma to Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, telling him that he needs to succeed there if he ever wants to surpass him.^{Ch. 1}

As Joichiro Saiba (才波 城一郎, Saiba Jōichirō), he attended Totsuki under this name as a 69th generation student, Polaris resident, and occupied the second seat on the Council of Ten.^{Ch. 34, 41} Gin Dojima, who held the top seat and who is Joichiro's best friend, knows that Joichiro's cooking skills are far superior, having a record of 20 wins and 101 losses in their cooking matches, but that Joichiro was too laid-back and care free to try to claim the top seat.

A talented and creative chef, he earned the nickname Shura,^{Ch. 41} after he single-handedly defeated up to 100 opponents in a regimental shokugeki. During the middle of his third year, the pressure of continuously creating new dishes took its toll on Jōichiro, to the point that he skipped B.L.U.E, the world youth cooking championships, in which he was favourite to win. Gin and Senzaemon blamed themselves, and suggested Jōichiro withdrew from the academy and travel the world to learn about cooking on his own terms. Azami, who was two generations behind Joichiro and wanted to push Joichiro's skills to fulfill his ideal of "true gourmet", was resentful when Joichiro left without graduating. Eventually, Jōichiro returned to Japan where he met his wife and opened a family restaurant. At time of his wife's passed away, his son Soma carries her will.

Joichiro is a close friend of the Nakiri family, often requested by Senzaemon to privately cook for him. On one such occasion, a young Erina curiously followed the aroma of his cooking, and was allowed to join them. Joichiro's cooking and manner inspired Erina to follow a brighter path as a chef, and this became one bright memory she held onto through Azami's brainwashing. Years later, Joichiro returns and coerces Azami to accept an irregular team Shokugeki, with the terms being his betting a lifelong servitude to Azami if the rebel team loses, in opposition to Azami and his cohorts' expulsion from the academy if the rebel team wins. Joichiro, Senzaemon, and Gin then act as coaches, giving special lessons to the rebel students in preparation of the upcoming team match.

Sometimes in the past, it is revealed that Joichiro have an illegitimate older son named Saiba Asahi in unknown means, with his illegal son uses his father's reputations and influences to do the illegal means which cause a never ending corruption of culinary world as Azami did before him, instead of using them for the right thing, eventually created a group of underground chefs known as the "Le Cuisine Noir" (translated from French as "Midnigh Chefs"). Four months after the Rebel team defeated Azami's Central team, at time the Le Cuisine Noir began to rise from the shadows, Joichiro lost 0-5 by his older son, who then attempt to meet his younger brother Soma afterwards.^{Ch. 271}

Gin Dojima

Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu (Japanese); Ty Mahany (English)

Gin Dōjima (堂島 銀, Dōjima Gin) is the head chef and company director of the Totsuki Resorts, first appearing in the camp event for the first-year students. A graduate of Totsuki's 69th class, he holds the record of the highest marks in the entire school, and has turned down offers to work for over 800 restaurants.^{Ch. 15} He is a tall and extremely muscular man with a buzz cut,^{Ch. 15} and had brown spikey hair in his youth.

Gin was a resident of the Polaris Dormitory with best-friend Joichiro, Jun and Azami, and held the top seat on the Council of Ten^{Ch. 34} He regards Joichiro highly, respecting his skill and his spirit as a chef. Gin believes that Joichiro has better cooking skills, having a record of 20–101 in their matches. During Joichiro's last day of their third year at Tōtsuki, Gin and Senzaemon noticed Jōichiro's critical condition, blaming themselves for pressuring Jōichiro into becoming mentally trapped in the creation of his dishes. Gin agreed with Senzaemon's suggestion to release Joichiro from the academy so he could travel the world and let his talents grow naturally. Gin's current job in Tōtsuki as of the present was an offer from Senzaemon, in order to ensure none of the current and former students sharing the similar fates as Joichiro had and most importantly not to end up like Azami.

After the completion of the first year's training camp, he is the first to notice Soma is Joichiro's son, having heard his last name "Yukihira" after Joichiro return to Japan and have a wife, but deemed Soma had much to learn to surpass his father. In addition to the annual first year's training camp, Gin often appears as a guest judge for events associated with Tōtsuki, including the Fall Classics and the Promotional Exams in Hokkaido. Although officially neutral, Gin was appalled by the sudden removal of Senzaemon and the installment of Azami as headmaster. He helped the rebels behind-the-scenes, keeping in touch with them until an unexpected scheme caused Soma's allies (except Takumi and Megumi) to be expelled. At this point, Gin, Senzaemon and Joichiro came forward as coaches for the remaining rebels before the battle starts.

Kojiro Shinomiya

Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura (Japanese); Benjamin McLaughlin (English)

Kojirō Shinomiya (四宮 小次郎, Shinomiya Kojirō) is the owner of a French haute cuisine restaurant called Shino's.^{Ch. 15} After graduating at the top of the 79th class, he moves to Paris, earning the moniker "Le magicien de légume" (The Vegetable Magician) for emphasizing vegetables and having a Japanese approach to a cuisine that has been mostly meat dishes. When his staff compromises his dishes, he hardens himself emotionally, and fires the staff, taking more of the burden himself. After achieving much success in his field and winning the Pluspol prize, he realizes he has been stagnant over the years.^{Ch. 21-26}

During the first-year camp, he immediately fires a student for using a scented hair care product.^{Ch. 15} When he expels Megumi Tadokoro for altering his recipe, Soma challenges him to a shokugeki, but director Gin Dojima has him compete against Megumi. Although he wins over the judges, Dojima and other alumni support Megumi's dish, and after trying her dish himself, he is reminded of his mother's kindness, and withdraws his firing of Megumi.^{Ch. 21-26} He returns in the story when Soma is assigned as a stagiaire (intern) at his new restaurant, Shino's Tokyo, where he helps Soma on improving the latter's dish and adds it to his menu. He reveals that he chose to specialize in French cuisine in order to make his mother happy.

In the aftermath of Azami's seizure of Tōtsuki, and Central's dubious actions (such as shutting down any Totsuki affiliate and replacing them with the businesses owned by his Central members), Shinomiya aids the remaining first-year rebels for their preparation against the eight remaining Central Council members before the Regimental de Cuisine starts for one month; specifically, Shinomiya is tasked to coach Megumi for the said upcoming match events. It is revealed despite admitting to himself that he agrees with Azami's ideal of "true gourmet", Shinomiya feels conficted and realized something doesn't seem right behind the truth of Azami's ideal, and as such Shinomiya refused to let Azami control Shino's like a puppet, and does not want to involve himself in any feuds between opposing food businesses and Azami Administration, instead remaining independent and neutral. During a one month of coaching the first year rebels for their preparation against Central's Council of Ten in Regimental de Cuisine, Soma introduced Shinomiya to his father Joichiro. Shinomiya appears to have met Joichiro somewhere in some past, but cannot remember when.

The Shokugeki no Soma – Etoile spinoff manga focuses on his time in France after graduation.

Hinako Inui

Voiced by: Mamiko Noto (Japanese); Allison Sumrall (English)

Hinako Inui (乾 日向子, Inui Hinako), of the 80th graduating class,^{Ch. 18} heads the Japanese-cuisine restaurant Kirinoya.^{Ch. 15} During the first-year camp, she hosts a challenge where students have to cook a Japanese dish to her approval using ingredients found on-site. She is a bit absent-minded, purposely dawdling between choosing whether Soma or Takumi's dish is better, until she is called to wrap up her assignment. She takes a liking towards Megumi Tadokoro. She is also fond of teasing Kojiro Shinomiya, which often results in the latter comically punishing her.^{Ch. 21-26}

As a student, she held the second seat in the Council of Ten, and was a feared chef known as the "Empress of Mist".^{Ch. 18} At the graduation of Shinomiya, Fuyumi and Donato, she cried upon learning of Kojirō's departure to France, predicting that his abusive and unfriendly nature would cause quarrels with his staff, to which the others agree.^{Ch. 25-26} She later challenged Kojiro to a shokugeki to not leave, but intentionally held back as she felt he should indeed go.

Fuyumi Mizuhara

Fuyumi Mizuhara (水原 冬美, Mizuhara Fuyumi) is the owner of the Italian restaurant Ristorante F, Fuyumi was a student of the 79th generation and held the 2nd seat of the Council of Ten, subordinate to Shinomiya. She is often irritated with Shinomiya because of his arrogant smirks, but at the same time respects him as a chef. She is often deadpan, sarcastic and serious compared to her light-hearted schoolmate Hinako Inui; she has short hair and is the only female judge who wears a tie and pants. She tried but failed to recruit the Aldini brothers and Soma for her restaurant at the conclusion of the first-year's summer camp.^{Ch. 34} She reappears as a judge at the Fall Classic.

Taki Tsunozaki

Taki Tsunozaki (角崎 瀧, Tsunozaki Taki)

Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu (Japanese); Kira Vincent-Davis (English)

Former 88th generation student and Council of Ten member, owner of the Spanish restaurant Taki Amarillo. She is invited to be a guest judge for the Fall Classic Tournament. She is an aggressive and short-tempered person, who is constantly bullying Sonoka because of her 'assets', disrespecting her seniors (such as Hinako, but respects Fuyumi) and talking about beating-up people she doesn't like. She looked down on Soma for his background as a diner cook, but after tasting his dish she and the other judges vote for him.

Sonoka Kikuchi

Sonoka Kikuchi (木久知 園果, Kikuchi Sonoka)

Voiced by: Asuka Nishi (Japanese); Molly Searcy (English)

Former 89th generation student and Council of Ten 2nd seat, owner of the Western restaurant Shunkatei. She is known for having the largest bust among the female characters. She's quite submissive and prone to panic. While judging Akira and Ryō's semi-final match in the Fall Classic, Sonoka crumbles under the pressure with the spectators and Ryō trying to sway her until Gin Dōjima intervenes.

Council of Ten Masters

The Totsuki Council of Ten Masters is the student council consisting of the top ten students of the school. They are in charge of decision-making for practically all the issues for the school. They report directly to the dean, and even the teachers must comply with the Council's decisions.^{Ch. 7}

Academic grades, performance in training camps, election tournaments, stagiaire, and Shokugeki records have been major factors for members chosen for the council. Members are ranked with the 1st seat being the best student in the academy, expected to have the most prominent future after graduation. Members will occasionally challenge each other for higher seat on the council; it is possible for a non-seated student to win a place through Shokugeki, though a council member will rarely accept such a challenge. The majority of council members are second- and third-year students, though Azami obtained the 3rd seat during his first year and Erina was granted a seat while still in the academy's middle school.

The council's authority in the academy rivals that of the director/headmaster, and a majority of the Council of Ten can overrule the director's wishes or formally request a new director. The Council of Ten is responsible for handling the academy's internal evaluations and helping organize events. Its members are given large budgets by the academy to utilize in any cooking-related pursuit, and freedom to carry out personal projects such as Erina's kitchen expansion which resulted in the demolition and disbanding of many long-standing clubs.

Six of the Council of Ten – Eishi, Rindō, Momo, Saitō, Nene, and Eizan – supported Azami's takeover as the new director. Under the Azami Administration, the merit-based Council of Ten has been supplanted by the authoritarian organization, Central, until the organization has fallen after being defeated by the Rebel Team in Regiment Match.

Etsuya Eizan

Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita (Japanese); Anthony Hunter (English)

Etsuya Eizan (叡山 枝津也, Eizan Etsuya) is introduced as a second-year student who occupies the ninth seat on the Council.^{Ch. 39} He has been a culinary consultant for a number of businesses since junior high, including Mozuya's fried chicken businesses, which Soma foiled their expansion into the Sumire Market District. His nickname is the "The Alchemist".^{Ch. 39} Satoshi Isshiki perceives Eizan as a delinquent who had organized his own gang in junior high, and a yazuka mastermind.^{Ch. 40}

He is manipulative, nefarious, often with a fiendish aura, and presents himself as a puppet-master, working behind the scenes to get his way. He tasks the stalker, Mimasaka Subaru, to defeat Soma during the Fall Classics, by initially enraging Takumi Aldini, but fails. Overconfident, Eizan believes that the young Yukihira's unpopularity with the student body will be his downfall. However, as Yukihira continues to progress towards the finals of the elections, this was shown not to be the case. Isshiki confronted Eizan about his clandestine scheming and calmly reminds him: while some people may easily be intimidated by a stronger opponent, Soma is not one of them. His positive attitude, determination, and creativity that got him this far and earns the respect of his peers, a notion that Eizan scoffs at.

Eizan supported Azami as Totsuki's new director, and arrogantly visited the academy's clubs to announce their disbandment. This provoked Tetsuji Kabutoyama, head of the Skewer RS, to challenge Eizan to a Shokugeki, not knowing that the judges were Eizan's business partners who voted against Tetsuji without tasting his dish. Although this was designed to crush the spirit of rebellion, Soma challenged Eizan for the survival of the Polaris Dorm, and unanimously won his Shokugeki through creativity and tenacity. The integrity of the Shokugeki was restored at the conclusion of the match, and a humiliated Eizan vowed revenge against Soma. On the next day after Azami dismissed Isshiki from the seventh seat, after the latter manage to recreate the fair rules of Shokugeki matches yesterday, Eizan is promoted to Isshiki's former seat. However, before he got the chance, he was defeated by a vengeful Takumi at the Promotional Exam's Regiment De Cuisine. At some point during the final bout of Regiment match, Eizan began to admit of Soma's clean tactics, despite his recklessness, realizing that Soma always have a clean trump card on his sleeves, and eventually leading the Rebels' victory. Four months after Rebels' victory, it is revealed that he is pardoned to return to Council on behalf of Soma's wisdoms, but being demoted to ninth seat, which was once eight to Terunori and Julio, ever since Takumi defeated him in a previous revenge match, due to his previous allegiance with Central.

Eishi Tsukasa

Voiced by: Akira Ishida (anime)

Eishi Tsukasa (司 瑛士, Tsukasa Eishi) is a third-year student who is introduced as occupying the first seat in the Council. An extremely talented chef, Eishi was nicknamed "the teacher killer" during middle school as teachers were knocked-down at the power of tasting his dishes. Despite his high position, he suffers from stage-fright and public anxiety, and wishes for somebody to beat him in an official Shokugeki to relieve him of his duties; rather than appearing in public, he prefers to do background administrative work. He easily falls into small depressions and needs reassurance from the rest of the council to avoid being crippled by doubts. However, he has absolute confidence in his cooking and never asks his customers how his food tastes. He specializes in gourmet-European cuisine, and due to his all-white color scheme is known in the culinary world as Der Weiße Ritter der Tafel (lit. 'The White Knight of Table'). As a fellow food elitist, he supported Azami's ideals, including the closing of all cooking establishments throughout Japan, then worldwide, that are deemed to be inferior. Originally, he wants to recruit both Soma and Satoshi as his pawns within Central's ranks, but both juniors reject his offering, due to their loyalties towards their fellow rebel friends and the endangered cooking establishments that are part of Central's closing list. At time before meeting Azami, Eishi was originally want to improve his cooking skills. However, at time after obtaining the current seats he and Rindo in during their third year, where they eventually met Azami in America, Eishi himself quickly ended up being manipulated by the exiled Nakiri's ideal on getting rid of the "fodders" who didn't acknowledge the gifted chefs as Eishi, causing Eishi losing his original determination and becoming what he is now. As Satoshi manage to get Eishi's weakspot, despite losing to him, Eishi, alongside Rindō finally experience their first loss by the hands of Soma and Erina's fully powered dishes during the final Regiment match, and thus, Eishi lost his seat. Eishi also learned his lesson from Isshiki about what true fun means to the culinary world, taking an example from the bonds which Soma created. Four months after the Rebels' victory, whereas Eishi and most of other Central members are being pardoned and graduate alongside other 3rd-year students, he is last seen with Rindo fishing at Amazon river.

Rindo Kobayashi

Voiced by: Shizuka Itō (anime)

Rindō Kobayashi (小林 竜胆, Kobayashi Rindō) is a third-year student who is introduced as occupying the second seat in the Council. A happy-go-lucky girl who has cat-like facial features and enjoys eating. She's been close friends with Tsukasa since meeting in their first year of middle school. She has a vast knowledge of all things pertaining to ingredients, from carving techniques, to butchering methods... and an unfathomable curiosity towards all tastes under the sun. She is known as the Rare Ingredients Master.

From the moment she entered the Council of Ten, Rindō made full use of her authority to travel across the globe to search for new rare ingredients. From the top of Chinese mountains, to deserts and the north pole, and the Amazon rainforest. Having already made herself quite versed in whatever rare ingredients that could be found in Japan itself, she managed to achieve further, almost explosive, growth by acquainting herself with the sort of unique ingredients that are inaccessible outside of their place of origin. There are even a few new species that she and on-site staff discovered as part of their projects. Once determined that removal of these new species does not affect the ecosystem, they would find their way to Rindō and her party's stomachs. Her exploratory nature was on full display every year at the Moon Banquet Festival where she eats from all 120 booths, including as a regular at the Entomophagy research society.

Despite her support for Azami's installment as the new Headmaster (having only supported his installment on the grounds that it'd 'shake things up'), she is not fully influenced by Azami's ideals: she disagrees with the expulsion of Isshiki, Megishima, and Kuga from the Council of Ten; is reluctant to wear Central's badge; and gives easy tests to Takumi and Megumi in the third phase of the Promotional Exam. Eventually, her loyalty starts to waver in earnest when she sees how Central treats other culinary businesses. Her true reason for siding with Central is related to Eishi, as he had fallen for Azami's manipulation ever since they met him in America after obtaining their current Council of Ten seats, and her desire to prevent any further manipulation. Thanks to her and Eishi's defeat at the hands of Soma and Erina's fully powered dishes during the final Regiment match, Rindō no longer has to worry about Azami's corrupting influence on Eishi anymore, as Central has officially fallen. Four months after the Rebels' victory, with Rindo and most of other Central members having been pardoned and graduating alongside other 3rd-year students, she is last seen with Eishi, fishing on the Amazon river.

Tosuke Megishima

--> Tōsuke Megishima (女木島 冬輔, Megishima Tōsuke) is a third-year student who is introduced as occupying the third seat in the Council. He did not support Azami, and was dismissed from the Council of Ten after Azami's installation as the new director. Megishima has a deep passion for ramen, and is known as the 'Shokugeki hating Chef' in Totsuki. He despises the Shokugeki as he believes the only competition any chef should have is how to make their customers happy. He is well known nationally in the ramen industry and has helped other ramen restaurants to grow and flourish, developing a young Yakuza boss persona. After the Azami Administration take-over, a lot of these restaurants are being coerced and bullied out of business and Megishima has been working to help them to stay afloat despite the pressure.

Originally, Megishima declined to join the rebel team as he wished to focus on the helping the ramen industry and did not wish for his ramen to become a weapon. Soma came to recruit him along with Megumi, and managed to irritate him by his reckless big talk. An angry Megishima bested Soma in various ramen-themed matches before being intrigued and touched by the young Yukihira's passion for unique, creative, free-style cooking. He then joins the rebel team in the Regiment de Cuisine against Central. Despite losing in the second bout to Rindō, his 'African Ramen' still managed to significantly weaken her. He is also the one who first noticed Rindō's doubt about how Azami treated other food businesses, since she's not really influenced by the second headmaster's ideal, and thus warned his remaining rebel allies through Takumi about her weaknesses for the next match, should the latter lose to Rindō as well. Four months after Rebels' victory, Tosuke, alongside Somei and Momo started their own culinary business respectively, at time after the two latters being pardoned to graduate alongside him and other 3rd-year students. He opens his ramen-stall business at Paris, France.

Momo Akanegakubo

Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya (anime)

Momo Akanegakubo (茜ヶ久保 もも, Akanegakubo Momo) is introduced as a third-year student who occupies the fourth seat on the Council. She is often seen with a penchant for 'cute things'. As a child, Momo has a knack for picking toys which later becomes very popular, leading to many manufacturers consulting her for toy designs. Eventually, Momo created social media accounts such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for her selfies. She is diminutive and looks like a middle-schooler, carrying a stuffed toy cat known as Butchy (ブッチー, Bucchi) which aids her in cooking, e.g. by using its hands as oven mitts. Momo specializes in western-style desserts and sweets, and her pâtisserie was ranked first-in-sales during the Moon Banquet Festival. At time after Azami Nakiri is voted as a second headmaster of Totsuki, by Momo and other five Council of Ten members, Momo is promoted to the third seat due its former holder Tosuke did not vote Azami and being dismissed by him. She can be anti-social and arrogant at first, but once she becomes more familiar with someone, she can become quite chatty. She likes to give pet names to people she deems inferior to her, ending with '-yan'; e.g. 'Soum-yan'. Due to her nature towards those whom she deemed to be inferior, Momo is unable to find light that does not impress her supposed-unique talent onto her dishes, leading her to a humiliating defeat at the hands of a redeemed Erina, with the karma of the said Nakiri had when she first tasted Soma's dish. After the Rebels' victory, Momo is one of Central members to be pardoned and allowed to graduate alongside other 3rd-year students. Four months later, Momo, alongside Somei and Tosuke started their own culinary business respectively. Momo has a fear of flying on airplanes.

Somei Saito

Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi

Sōmei Saitō (斎藤 綜明, Saitō Sōmei) is introduced as a third-year student who occupies the fifth seat on the Council. A skilled sushi chef who strictly follows the bushido code. Hailed from a small, but popular, sushi family diner owned by his mother, Saito vow to be a great chef as her. As Saito enters Totsuki at middle school, his mother got an apprenticeship at a famous sushi restaurant, Shigarami. However, things turn for the worst for them as the misogynistic Shiragami refuses the latter any access to the kitchen and assigned her doing menial tasks. Eventually, Saito's mother became ill from overwork. Vowing to protect his family diner, Saito honed his skills at Totsuki and crushed all opposing sushi restaurants who tries to ruin his diner's reputation, including Shiragami, in various competitions. With his sword, "Isanakiri" (whale cutter), used in his cooking, Saito developed his "Sushido" code, and earning a place in the Council of Ten council, where he is often considered a little eccentric with his samurai voracity and persona. Considering rebellion is a transgression against the bushido code, Saitou fights for Azami; despite not fully espousing to the latter's ideals, accepting the Shokugeki as part of his training. At time after Azami is voted as a second headmaster of Totsuki, by Somei and other five Council of Ten members, Somei is promoted to the fourth seat, whereas Momo is promoted to the third seat. He is defeated by Soma during the third bout of the Regiment match's day 2, fully acknowledging Soma's strength. After Rebels' victory, Somei is one of Central members to be pardoned and graduate alongside other 3rd-year students. Four months later, Somei, alongside Momo and Tosuke started their own culinary business respectively, with Somei continue his family dining business.

Nene Kinokuni

Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa (anime)

Nene Kinokuni (紀ノ国 寧々, Kinokuni Nene) is introduced as a second-year student who occupies the sixth seat on the Council. She hailed from the eastern Kanda, whose family runs a famous Soba restaurant, serving “Edo Soba,” and it’s a well-known restaurant and serves one of the best Soba in Japan, which mainly serving the 1st flour Soba. Ever since she was little, she was taught the principles of tea ceremonies, Kaiseki cooking and basically anything that involves traditional Japanese food and the arts.

Her family, along with the Isshiki family, are the two most revered and respected culinary families in traditional Japanese food. As heir to his family, Isshiki Satoshi was sent to the Kinokuni household at 4 years old to train. Although initially Nene tried to get along with Satoshi, she grew jealous of him who seems to be surpassing her quickly in skills. This resentment is compounded when they both entered Totsuki and the Council of Ten. Even though Nene was ranked higher than Isshiki in the Council of Ten, everyone knew the only reason that was the case is because Isshiki did not do his best, and often held back his true skills. However, it is revealed that Isshiki was actually floundering in his cooking, and secretly admires Nene's determination and passion, as he has none originally until now. As most of the three of six earliest present day Council below second seat who voted Azami ranks up, Nene is the only lower ranked Central supportive Council member to remain in her rank. She is defeated by Soma in the first bout of the Regiment de Cuisine, leading her to be concerned about Soma's true potential of his cooking skills that can pit against the high-ranked chefs, despite being a freshman.

Four months after Rebels' victory, it is revealed that she is pardoned to return to Council on behalf of Soma's wisdoms, but being demoted to ninth seat, which was once belonged to Eizan and Hayama, due to her previous allegiance with Central. In her current third year, Nene is too late to realize in four months earlier about Soma's true potential, just because he is the son of the legendary Joichiro.^{Ch. 270 - 271}

Terunori Kuga

Voiced by: Yuki Kaji (anime)

Terunori Kuga (久我 照紀, Kuga Terunori) is introduced as a second-year student who occupies the eight seat on the Council. Terunori Kuga is a specialist in Sichuan cuisine. He traveled widely as a child and took an interest in Chinese cuisine, including Sichuan, Hunan, and Guizhou cuisines. Earning a place in the Council of Ten, he used the influence and resources this brought to further develop himself in the field. He leads the Chinese Cuisine Research Society and turned it into a society that narrowly focuses on Szechuan cooking only, where he trains dozens of students with army-like efficiency to follow his recipes. He is the most laid-back in the Council, the most talkative, and has a short fuse. Just like Soma, Terunori is someone who seeks a challenge in order to improve his skills.

During the Autumn Leaf Viewing of his first year, Kuga challenged the Council of Ten members, with Tsukasa accepting and defeating him in a Shokugeki. Irritated by Tsukasa's lack of recognition, Terunori challenged Tsukasa again during the Moon Banquet Festival: should he achieve first in sales every day in his area, he and Tsukasa would have a rematch. However, Soma managed to beat Terunori's sales on the fourth day, thus voiding his resolve. Kuga did not accept Azami as the new director, and was dismissed from the Council of Ten under the Azami Administration. So far, the Chinese RS has not been shut down. He later appeared during the Promotional Exams to help Soma prepare for a match against Akira Hayama, then fully joins the rebel team in Regimental de Cuisine for his rematch against Tsukasa. Kuga still lost, but managed to land a significant blow to Tsukasa in their match. Four months after Rebels' victory, Terunori returns to the Council once more and effectively promoted to third seat, succeeding Tosuke and the pardoned Momo, who are now graduated.

Julio Shiratsu

Julio Shiratsu (白津 樹利夫, Shiratsu Jurio) is a second year student who is introuced as a temporarily appointed eight seat for Central's Council of Ten. He is very flamboyant and loud, who also very obsessed and at the same time held a grudge towards Isshiki. His family is well known as the chefs for the Italian embassy for generations. Julio later lost to Isshiki during a Regimental de Cuisine.

Shoko Kaburagi

Shōko Kaburagi (鏑木 祥子, Kaburagi Shōko) is a second year student who is introuced as a temporarily appointed fifth seat for Central's Council of Ten. She looks like a boy while wearing her chef uniform, and mostly her hat. She likes apple tea and watching tennis, but has a strong dislike of spiders and the smells of tobaccos. She lost to Megishima during the Regimental de Cuisine.

Central Gourmet Institute

Central (officially, Central Gourmet Institute) is a ruling organization within Totsuki which supplanted the Council of Ten during the Azami Administration. It is composed of students selected by Azami, including the six Council of Ten members who supported him as director. Central was created as a student-run organization to assist Azami's goal of educating all academy students with the skills and techniques to cook dishes at an Council of Ten-level. Central dictates what dishes the students are required to make, and the correct recipe and method for their preparation. Any attempt modify or defy these choices results in stiff reprimanding from proctors and professors. The rebel students consider Central to be nothing more than Azami's puppets, copying the techniques of others with no confidence of their own. With the Rebels' victory on Regiment match, Central is officially disbanded alongside with banning its completely loyal followers from returning to Totsuki ever again in term of the organization's bet with the Rebels. Others who were brainwashed and manipulated by Central and not even completely to that organization are being pardoned to return and visit to the academy, as Soma, now the new 1st seat gave them second chances.

Azami Nakiri

Azami Nakiri (薙切 薊, Nakiri Azami) a.k.a. Azami Nakamura (中村 薊, Nakamura Azami)

Voiced by: Shō Hayami

Azami is Erina's mysterious father who returns from banishment, and becomes the main antagonist from the 16th tankōbon of the series. He replaces his ex-father-in-law Senzaemon as the director/headmaster of Totsuki with six of the Council of Ten supporting him, and uses bribery, fear and intimidation to effect sweeping changes in a scheme to achieve his ideal of a gourmet utopia. Azami took the prestigious Nakiri name upon marrying Senzaemon's daughter; previous to that he was known as Azami Nakamura.

Azami was a Totsuki student, resident of Polaris dorm and member of the Council of Ten – 3rd seat as a freshman then promoted to 1st seat as a sophomore until his graduation. Joichiro and Gin were his seniors, and he particularly admired Joichiro who he believed could achieve his ideal of "true gourmet". Azami believed that it was Tōtsuki that had ruined Joichiro 's reputation that resulted in Joichiro leaving, and began upon a plan to radically alter the academy.

Azami claimed to have molded Erina's "God Tongue" and indoctrinated her as a food elitist in isolation. He taught her to neither forgive nor show mercy toward inferior food, no matter how minor the failure. This ultimately brainwashed her. Azami was eventually banished from Tōtsuki when Senzaemon discovered what he had done, and his name was struck from the academy records. Made unwelcome in Japan, Azami created a gourmet society for the wealthy of the United States, later expanding to the Middle East and South Asia.

Azami returned to Totsuki having convinced a majority of the Council of Ten to make him the academy's new director, replacing Senzaemon. He immediately moved to purge any potential insubordination by eliminating inventive cooking classes, disbanding seminars, clubs, research societies and associations, and replace these independent organizations with a Central Gourmet Institution that would teach all students Council of Ten-level skills and techniques. This meant the merit-based system which graduated 1% of students would be replaced with an authority-based system which would graduate everyone that submits to its teachings. Azami began brainwashing Tōtsuki's students to be compliant to his ideology, intending to create an army of chefs who would dominate the restaurant industry in Japan, making identically perfect dishes, driving out inferior restaurants, and eventually spreading his gourmet utopia to the rest of the world.

Azami attempted to isolate Erina and use her God Tongue to further his plans. When she ran away, he visited her at Polaris Dorm and learned that Soma is Joichiro's son. Further purging any potential of rebellion, he dismissed Isshiki, Megishima and Kuga from the Council of Ten, and launching the "survivor's purge" against the holdout societies. Soma, Megumi, Nikumi, and Ryō Kurokiba managed to save their respective societies. He held the Shiomi Seminar's research data hostage to extort Fall Classic-champion Akira Hayama's allegiance to Central.

With only Soma, Megumi, and Takumi managing to hold out in the promotional exams against his total control of the student body, Azami accepted Joichiro's proposal for an irregular team Shokugeki – Regimental de Cuisine – of the Council of Ten against the rebels, Joichiro betting his lifelong service to Azami against Azami and his Council of Ten being ousted from Tōtsuki. Erina resigned from the Council of Ten to be with her friends, but Azami swore he will get her back. On day 2, Azami made an agreement with Senzaemon to let the former be one of the judges for the final, then hired two WGO female higher-ups to replace its two lower-ranked male members as judges, save for Anne, despite the two higher-ups remaining neutral like their fellow members. On the day of the last match, Azami secretly attempted to rig the match to get everything he wants quickly. Unfortunately for him, despite his selfishness and because Erina finally broken free from his dark influences thanks to her newfound friends and bonds, his plan backfired, as Erina and Soma's dishes manage to surpasses Eishi and Rindo's dishes, and Azami himself was unable to accept his defeat, but was too late from preventing his lost. Soma later revealed to Azami that Joichiro had been cured since his departure from the academy thanks to the latter meeting Soma's late-mother, something Azami had not known previously. Despite disdain from his daughter, Erina herself still believe there's a good left. As stated by the higher-rank member of WGO, Courage, the lost Azami's regime is just the beginning, as there is someone who is far beyond him will appear.

Rentaro Kusunoki

Rentarō Kusunoki (楠 連太郎, Kusunoki Rentarō)

An arrogant second-year student who often underestimates his opponents, and can be recognized by his bandanna, a tattoo on his left cheek, and crosses on his cooking outfit. His speciality is low-temperature cooking techniques. He is sent by Azami to demolish the Cutting Edge RS, and calls the first-years lowlifes when de facto captain Alice Nakiri is indifferent about the RS. This insult leads Ryō Kurokiba to challenge and defeat Rentarō in a Shokugeki, causing Central to lose face.

Mea Yanai

Mea Yanai (梁井 メア, Yanai Mea)

Voiced by: Mao Ichimichi

A second-year student with a pink hair and a haughty attitude. She lost to Nikumi in the second survival match.

Shigemichi Kumai

Shigemichi Kumai (熊井 繁道, Kumai Shigemichi)

Nicknamed 'Shige', he is a second-year student with a brutish appearance. However, unlike his fellow Central members and despite his appearance, Shige is a very reasonable chef with a code of honor. He lost to Megumi in the second survival match against the Regional Cooking RS.

Rui Kofuru

Rui Kofuru (小古 類, Kofuru Rui)

A mysterious second-year student with long white hair and bangs over her eyes (like Shun Ibusaki). In anime, it is revealed that she is defeated by Marui during Survival's Purge against his Literature Culinary Club.

Mayumi Kurase

Mayumi Kurase (倉瀬 真由美, Kurase Mayumi) is Soma's childhood friend since kindergarten.^{Vol. 1 side story} She first appeared as a taste-tester in one of Soma and Joichiro's cooking contests at the start of the series.^{Ch. 1} She has a crush on Soma,^{Vol. 1 side story} and is constantly pressured by her friends to confess to him. Mayumi assists Soma and Ikumi in reviving their market district which was losing business to a popular fried chicken chain opening in the train station, stealing the district's customers. After Soma returns to Totsuki, Mayumi helps Yuya Tomita in running the district's fried-chicken shop.^{Ch. 35-38}

Leonora Nakiri

Leonora Nakiri (薙切 レオノーラ, Nakiri Reonōra)

Voiced by: Sayaka Ohara (Japanese); Emily Neves (English)

Leonora is Alice's mother, the Danish wife of Sōe and co-head of Nakiri International. She appeared as a judge for the final match of the Fall Classics, along with Gin and Senzaemon. She is very kind and loving but has difficulty speaking Japanese. However, when she tastes an exceptional dish, she would illuminate (or "baring" as Alice would call it) and describe the dish in detail with perfect Japanese. Like her daughter, Leonora is very knowledgeable in molecular gastronomy, and her eyes comically deform into cartoonish shapes when she is flustered or emotional.

Soe Nakiri

Sōe Nakiri (薙切 宗衛, Nakiri Sōe)

Voiced by: Ryotaro Okiayu

Sōe is Alice's father, Leonora's husband, Senzaemon's son and co-head of Nakiri International. During the third phase of the Promotional Exams, he and Gin Dōjima attended the revenge match between Akira Hayama and Soma Yukihira, acting as neutral judges to ensure a fair result. He always loved his family, unlike his former brother-in-law Azami.

Berta and Cilla

Voiced by: Sayaka Senbongi (Cilla)

They are the two staff members under the Research Division of Nakiri International and Leonora Nakiri's subordinate. During the third phase of the Promotional Exams, they attended the revenge match between Akira Hayama and Soma Yukihira, acting as neutral judges to ensure a fair result. At the time after hearing Alice lost to Soma, it is revealed that they became one of his big fans, and gladly meeting him in person when finally hearing his name during the match.

Anne

Anne is a First Class Bookmen from World Gourmet Organization who act as the Head Judge for Regiment De Cuisine Between The Rebel and Central.
