The Morocco 2030 FIFA World Cup bid is a bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup by Morocco.[1][2][3][4] The bid was announced and it wll be led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The bid was officially confirmed on 15 June 2018.
Background
The 2030 bid is Morocco's sixth bid to host the FIFA World Cup after a record five unsuccessful attempts in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026. If successful, it will be the second African country, after the 2010 tournament in South Africa, as well as the second Arab and Muslim country after the 2022 tournament in Qatar, as well as the first time in North Africa.[5]
Assuming Morocco formally submits a bid, it would tie Germany with the most bids for hosting a FIFA World Cup at six.
Potential venues
For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it has been confirmed that stadiums must have a capacity of at least 40,000 for group round matches and second round matches, 40,000 for quarter final and 60,000 for the semi-finals and at least 80,000 for the Opening Match and Final. Morocco not concerned have stadiums with such a capacity for the opening and final matches as of yet.[6]
