Personal life

I removed one of the paragraphs about his drug use. It was reliably sourced (if excessively footnoted; each sentence had a footnote attributing the same source) but the details give undue weight to the drug use. My review of the talk page archives indicates that this is an ongoing concern for editors of this article.--otherlleft 14:14, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I respectfully disagree. This is a very condensed version of what used to be here and a fact that is widely published, including to extensively in Kevin Smith's book covering the subject. What used to be here was undue weight, but this covers highlights of his activities and the theft of money from Smith is reported everywhere. Wildhartlivie (talk) 22:56, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't Career section come before the "Personal Life" section? It's this way in any other article about actors etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.97.70.240 (talk) 13:34, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ichanged the article so now Career section comes before Personal Life section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.97.70.240 (talk) 13:37, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Last week (Aug 19th 2010) Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes talked about how he had "fallen off the wagon" while in Vegas. Perhaps consider updating the "to date, he has remained sober." text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.169.131.14 (talk) 12:51, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

http://smodcast.com/getold/index.html chronicles his battles with drug addiction. He was clean from 2003-2009, relapsed and is trying to get clean again. The most recent episode says he's been off since June 2010. Someone should add this. ChesterG (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:15, 24 September 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Done. Jay's drug addiction is the primary focus of the entire "Jay and Silent Bob Get Old" series of weekly podcasts, it seems odd to have the last update on his drug addiction be before his last relapse. Ella Plantagenet (talk) 02:57, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the material because Smith's SModcast main page, which is the one source to which all three links direct the reader, makes no mention of this. You can't just link to a site's main page and call that a citation. Wikipedia:Verifiability requires that people can verify the material. They can't do this if the material not supported by the citation. I tried doing a Google search for a viable, reliable source, but didn't find anything. Sorry. Nightscream (talk) 04:24, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As well you should have! I was editing last night right before I went to sleep and added the wrong sources. I meant to add stuff from Jay and Silent Bob Get Old and instead cited Smodcast. Total brain fart, sorry about leaving a mess for you to clean up. I will correct it with accurate, verifiable sources.
While I have you here, can I ask you some questions about citing the podcasts? I don't know if you've listened to them, but the first 6 lay out in minute detail what exactly happened during Jay's various bouts with addiction and this last relapse. I know which podcasts specifically talk about the information I'm adding to the article, but is it sufficient to link to the smodcast.com page that hosts that particular podcast?
Thanks for your patience, I'm still trying to learn the ropes around here. Ella Plantagenet (talk) 22:39, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

S'Okay, I appreciate the effort. No worries. And yes, you can ask me whatever questions you want, as I try to make myself available to newbies whenever I can. For future reference, just drop me a line at the bottom of my talk page.

As for podcasts, I listened to the entire May 26 that is provided when you go to the SModcast main page, and only reverted your edits after I saw that (well, heard, I should say) that it didn't mention any of the material in question. But if you can find links to the actual podcasts or any other reliable source that mentions it, naturally feel free to re-add the material. Wikipedia:Verifiability requires that sources be provided so that people who read the article can verify that the source indeed contains the material, hence the policy name. As long as you provide the publication/broadcast info that allows them to do this, WP:V is satisfied. If the info you provide is not sufficient for them to find it and listen to it, then that policy is not satisfied. Hope that helps. Good luck, Ella! :-) Nightscream (talk) 08:34, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have Jason's birthday listed twice for June (which seems to be the correct date), and once as July. I assume the July date is a typo. It is in the "Early Life" portion of the article. Thanks.

Why assume this? The cited source says July, and not June. Nightscream (talk) 02:53, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Money Shot

Mewes was in the film Money Shot. Is there any reason it is not listed under FIlmography? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mfhiller (talkcontribs) 05:05, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He was in the movie K-11 filmed in 2012.

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 17:42, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Television section?

Can we create a separate television section for his filmography since he's done a considerable amount of TV work as well? Npamusic (talk) 22:39, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: Career, re. Mallrats 2 and Clerks 3

It looks like both of these projects are dead. Should probably remove the language referring to them as "upcoming sequels".[1] [2]

Missing an entry in his filmography.

I noticed that this article is missing K-11 in his filmography. It should be there!

Privacy for daughter

Please remove the name and birth date of Mewes' non-notable minor child, per WP:BLPPRIVACY. 2600:8800:1880:188:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 11:32, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BLPNAME would seem to indicate that including it is okay. Nightscream (talk) 15:08, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: The article only contains a sourced statement of the child's name and birth date, which is allowed per WP:BLPNAME. WP:BLPPRIVACY would apply if the article contained the person's non-public information such as phone number, address, etc. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:13, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Filmography

  1. The wikilink Weight does not go where we want it to. I cannot find an article for this film that does exist. Please unlink the title.
  2. The table entry for Jay and Silent Bob Get a Reboot should not be in the filmography; the film has not yet entered principal photography. Please remove this table row until filming has begun. 2600:8800:1880:188:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 11:32, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Partly done: I unlinked Weight as requested. However, per WP:NPF the principal photography criteria only applies to a stand-alone article about the film; it does not apply not to mentions of the film in related articles. I don't see a problem with leaving it in this article. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:22, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:FILMOGRAPHY, we cannot add future films to filmographies until principal photography has commenced. Once again, I request that you remove Jay and Silent Bob Get a Reboot for now. 2600:8800:1880:188:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 03:51, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. @2600:8800:1880:188:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26: I think your confusing an WP:ESSAY with Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. WP:FILMOGRAPHY is an essay on style not a guideline/policy. I personally feel it would be best to establish a consensus in this case before removing the film from the list. I as well don't see a problem with leaving it in this article. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 17:57, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your description is overly generous: this is not a film at all. It's WP:VAPOR. WP:FILMOGRAPHY represents long-standing and widespread WP:CONSENSUS across WP:FILM. Check any actor or actress BLP, we do not include future "films" in their filmographies. Yes, you can include a blurb, with a citation, about it in the article prose if you want to talk about his casting or development, but you don't put it in a filmography because the actor hasn't actually done anything. Filmographies describe the creative work of an actor or actress. That creative work typically commences with principal photography. 2600:8800:1880:188:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 06:37, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if I'm doing this right, but can Jay and Silent Bob Reboot at the bottom of Mewes's filmography be updated to '2019?' It only began principal photography in 2019 and is set to release in the fall... Just doesn't make sense for it to say 2018... Justageekipedian (talk) 07:29, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
