Hero Beauregard Faulkner Fiennes-Tiffin (born November 6, 1997) is an English actor and model best known for his role as Hardin Scott in the film After and as the 11-year-old Tom Riddle, the young version of antagonist Lord Voldemort (played in the films by his uncle, Ralph Fiennes), in the film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.[1]
Early life
Fiennes-Tiffin was born in London on November 6, 1997 to film directors George Tiffin and Martha Fiennes[2] and educated at Emanuel School in Battersea. He has an older brother named Titan and a younger sister named Mercy. He is a member of the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family and is the great-grandson of Sir Maurice Fiennes. His uncles are actors Ralph Fiennes and Joseph Fiennes.[3]
Career
Fiennes-Tiffin made his first film appearance as Spartak in the 2008 drama film Bigga Than Ben. He earned the part of young Voldemort even though thousands of young actors auditioned for the role;[4] at least one publication, however, has alleged his family relation alone landed him the part.[5] David Yates, director of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, said Fiennes-Tiffin was cast as Tom Riddle due to his ability to find "the darker space" in his line readings. Yates said he did not get the role due to his relation to Ralph Fiennes, who is his maternal uncle, but admitted the family resemblance was "a clincher".[6] Yates described the actor as "very focused and disciplined"[7] and said he "got the corners and dark moods and odd spirit of the character"[4] and had a "wonderful haunted quality that seemed to bring Tom Riddle alive on-screen for us."[7]
In 2018, Fiennes-Tiffin had landed the lead male role, Hardin Scott, in the film After based on the New York Times best selling book After written by Anna Todd. A sequel, After We Collided, was announced in 2019 with Fiennes-Tiffin and co star Josephine Langford set to reprise their roles as Hardin and Tessa.[8] He won the Choice Drama Movie Actor award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards and received the Rising Star award at the Ischia Film Festival.[9] In April 2019, it was announced that Fiennes-Tiffin had been cast as Brooks in the film, The Silencing.[10]
