Does this really need a separate page?

[edit]

I don't think this really needs it's own page. Surely UNIT personel could be covered in the list of minor characters or in the new TARDIS travellors page. StuartDD 12:46, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Defining commas

[edit]

While the page exists I thought I'd better explain a major copy edit. If you state (for example) "...appeared in the Third Doctor story, The Claws of Axos", it implies that Axos was the only Third Doctor story. The defining commas should only be used where there can be only one of what is described beforehand. So you can say "Doctor Who's first producer, Verity Lambert" or "Former Doctor Who producer Verity Lambert". In other words, there can only be one first producer, but many former producers. This error appeared in virtually every entry, so I thought I'd better explain lest anyone take offence. None intended. :-) Chris 42 17:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category renaming

[edit]

Please go to Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2008_April_27#Category:United_Nations_Intelligence_Taskforce where there is a debate and vote on renaming Category:United Nations Intelligence Taskforce. Type 40 (talk) 14:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

Isn't the "in Doctor Who" part of the title redundant? UNIT aren't going to be in anything else. Fair use image removal

[edit]

Disputes not withstanding, the indiscriminate use of fair use images in list articles such as this one is not supported. For the supporting policy, see WP:NFCC. For supporting guideline, see Wikipedia:NFC#Non-free_image_use_in_list_articles. See similar discussion at Talk:Supporting_Harry_Potter_characters#Overuse_of_fair_use_images and Talk:List_of_James_Bond_henchmen_in_Die_Another_Day#Fair_use_image_removal (and observe that fair use images remain removed or tightly limited on those two articles). --Hammersoft (talk) 17:48, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of the few cases in the world of Doctor Who in which we might conceivably be able to find a "cast shot" or two to illustrate how UNIT and its personnel were depicted in Doctor Who. I suggest that we look for the following:
  • An image of the "UNIT family" from the Pertwee era, preferably one showing the Brigadier, Sgt. Benton and Capt. Yates
  • An image of UNIT personnel in Battlefield, including Brig. Bambera
  • An image of UNIT personnel in "The Christmas Invasion", including Maj. Blake
  • An image of UNIT personnel from "The Sontaran Stratagem"/"The Poison Sky", including Col. Mace
I think that such cast images would be completely justified by the NFCC, which says that such "cast shots" are preferred over individual images. Also, the UNIT uniforms seem to me a prime example of the sort of costuming which can distinguish characters from the actors who portray them. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 06:09, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Officers

[edit]

The "UNIT Officers" listed on this page in fact appeared in The Mind of Evil as "Prison Officers". Here you will find the UNIT officers for TMoE at this page- http://www.mentalis.f9.co.uk/DWID/JP/Stories/FFF.htm -Anonymous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.165.201.169 (talk) 03:46, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources modified on List of UNIT personnel

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just attempted to maintain the sources on List of UNIT personnel. I managed to add archive links to 1 source, out of the total 1 I modified, whiling tagging 0 as dead.

Please take a moment to review my changes to verify that the change is accurate and correct. If it isn't, please modify it accordingly and if necessary tag that source with {{cbignore}} to keep Cyberbot from modifying it any further. Alternatively, you can also add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page's sources altogether. Let other users know that you have reviewed my edit by leaving a comment on this post.

Below, I have included a list of modifications I've made:

Criteria for incluson?

[edit]

How significant does a UNIT character have to be to qualify for this list? Can any onscreen named member of UNIT qualify? In which case can Captain Turner, Captain Munroe, Sergeant Hart, Corporal Nutting, Private Wyatt, Major Cosworth, Corporal Palmer etc etc all get entries? 165.225.81.100 (talk) 16:39, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
