Choi Ye-na (Korean최예나; born September 29, 1999), better known mononymously as Yena is a South Korean singer. She is part of the South Korean-Japanese girl group Iz One after the competition television show Produce 48.

In 2018, she competed in the survival show Produce 48. She placed fourth and debuted as a member of Iz One.[1]

Early life

Choi was born September 29, 1999 in Seoul. When she was young, she was diagnosed with lymphoma, a kind of childhood cancer.[2] The hospital told her parents that there was no hope, but she then took on treatment for the disease and it was successfully cured.

Career

2018–present: Produce 48, Iz One and solo activities

In February 2018, Choi represented Yuehua Entertainment together with fellow trainees Kim Si-hyun and Wang Yiren in the Mnet reality-survival program Produce 48 which aimed to form an twelve-member girl group that will promote for two and a half years.[3] Choi placed 4th with a total of 285,385 votes in the final episode and debuted as a member of Iz One while the other 2 trainees were eliminated, but in later year the both of them debut as a member of girl group Everglow.

In 2019, Choi became a fixed cast member in tvN's variety show Prison Life of Fools.[4]

Personal life

Choi's older brother Choi Sung-min is a former member of pop group Coed School.
