It was a former ward of [[West Coast Group Representation Constituency]] (GRC) from 2001 until 2011, when it was carved out as a standalone SMC during the [[2011 Singaporean general election|2011 elections]]. The SMC is entirely surrounded in all sides by the [[West Coast Group Representation Constituency|West Coast GRC]]. It is bounded by Jurong West Street 61/62, [[Jurong West Central]], Jalan Boon Lay, Boon Lay Way, Jurong West Street 93 (until the gap between Jurong West Sports Complex and Block 980 & 979, but excluding the Yunnan Gardens and Yunnan Park) and Jurong West Avenue 4. It covers the southern area of [[Pioneer, Singapore|Pioneer]] and is connected to the rest of the [[Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore)|Mass Rapid Transit system]] through [[Boon Lay MRT station|Boon Lay MRT]] and [[Pioneer MRT station|Pioneer MRT]] stations. |
