Memon

I have changed "one of the most active Memon philanthropists" to just he's "one of the most active Memon philanthropists". He's not just the most active from his own community; he's the most active of ANY. I have added a mention of which community he's from further down.iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 20:12, Feb 15, 2005 (UTC)

Although Edhi started as a charity worker for his Bantwa Memon community, he has overgrown his Bantwa background, then his Memon background, and now he has overgrown his national and religious background. In my view, his introduction should be "a Pakistan based internationally recognized charity worker" (keep in mind the international awards and recognitions). Word philanthropist

word philanthropists should be change to social worker - philanthropists give the impression that he is rich person - this is not the case --sidq 19:51, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Title Maulana

Dr Abdul Sattar Edhi, or Maulana Edhi (remove word Dr.) Maulana Edhi should be change to Maulana Sattar Edhi (note: Sattar Edhi has no formal religious training in Islam but people gave him this title because of his appearance and because he used to lead funeral prayers --sidq 20:07, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well he is simply known as Edhi. Both Maulana and Dr are fitting titles. Maulana means "Our Leader" and he is indeed a leader in charity work. However he does not like the title as this title is reserved for religious clerics in Pakistan. He does have an honorary Ph.D degree from I.B.A. as such the title of Dr is also correct, and he likes this title. Please do not confuse Maulana with Maulvi. Maulvi is a title for a graduates of Maulvi course from a madrissa. Hassanfarooqi 17:11, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

If someone could get a picture that isn't copyright protected onto the page I would really appreciate it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by M2k41 (talkcontribs).

Official Site for Edhi Foundation:

I've been looking everywhere for the 'official' website for the Edhi Foundation but unfortunately I don't think they have one as of yet. It maybe that they would rather have this foundation stay as a grassroots foundation?

Dr. Edhi deserves a nobel peace price !

He very well worthy of it. --digitalSurgeon 09:13, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revert as of 26 June 2006

Spasage reverted my edit as of 26 June 2006. But I see no reason for these changes being reverted. I have added a reliable source that states where and when Edhi received his doctorate, I also removed the word 'recently' from the sentence because what happens when people read this article in a couple of years? I also removed the link to the flu epidimic page because that page does not exist.M2k41 11:05, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some words about Doctor Abdul Sattar Edhi. Doctor Abdul Sattar Edhi has done what others can never do. He has set up an example. May Allah bless him happiness in this life and in the life hereafter, aameen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.158.141.242 (talkcontribs) If bush can get noble prize why can't edhi?

referencing

It would be very good if some more references were added--there are probably newspaper or magazine articles or broadcasts about his work. DGG 02:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was the one who wrote the majority of this article and I will be returning to it in a few weeks to make some large scale improvements including references. M2k41 (talk) 12:00, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Readdition of large chunks of material

Assalm-o-alikum

Q.When did Abdul Sattar Edhi open the Edhi centre's? Where did Edhi's branches —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.28.41 (talk) 10:37, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is he a doctor?

Nowhere in the article is it mention what kind of a doctor he is (phd or what have you). But he is called Dr. Edhi several times.PonileExpress (talk) 02:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
