Template:User5 is permanently protected from editing because it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. If the proposal is uncontroversial or has been discussed and is supported by consensus, editors may use {{edit template-protected}} to notify an administrator or template editor to make the requested edit. Usually, any contributor may edit the template's documentation to add usage notes or categories.

Any contributor may edit the template's sandbox. This template does not have a testcases subpage. You can create the testcases subpage here.

Suggest adding "rfcu" link to User5[edit]

Since {{User5}} is used extensively at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets, it would be very helpful to have one more link at the end to find any checkuser page that exists for the user. The following code should be added just before the final parenthesis:
 <small>•</small> {{rfcu|{{{1}}}|rfcu}}

{{User5|Jimbo Wales}} would then result in:
Jimbo Wales (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log • rfcu)

For an example of this button in actual use, see {{Usercheck}}, which looks for a background of disputes:

Actually, it looks like it's still happening, at least on my computer--go to the SSP page, scroll down to the Classicjupiter2 case, and the listing for Protector777 is munged, and the cases after that don't display properly. I changed the template for Protector777 from user5 to usercheck at the case subpage (Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Classicjupiter2), and the SSP page displays properly now. Still, it seems like there's some bug with user5. --Akhilleus (talk) 21:13, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ifexist needs to go[edit]

This template is responsible for several pages in Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls. The ifexist call will need to be removed. I suggest simply replacing the RFCU conditional with an unconditional link. Broken for names beginning with *[edit]

Attempting to report suspected sockpuppet User:*myl2000*, I found the user5 template is broken for names that begin with *. Displays like so:

rm rfcu link[edit]

{{editprotected}} RFCU is no more, so the rfcu ink in this template is obsolete, and should be removed, Mayalld (talk) 14:23, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
