Talk page removal

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Polygon, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —David Eppstein (talk) 15:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, as you did at Talk:Polygon. Such edits are disruptive, and may appear to other editors to be vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Thank you. —David Eppstein (talk) 15:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Infobox unbitrium requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

WP:CSD#G4: discussed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Elements/Archive_60#Question_3:_delete_unused_Infoboxes_(E123,_..) with a project consensus to delete; later codified at WP:NONEWELEMENTS; willing to send to WP:Templates for discussion for a broader consensus if contested

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Responding here in case the deletion goes through, the principal reason for deletion is that articles/templates for undiscovered elements that have been deemed not to satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines – namely there is not enough written about them in reliable sources to support standalone articles – have been recreated by many users and deleted with the same rationale every time. Your desire to help Wikipedia is nevertheless appreciated, and the infobox can be restored should enough sources to create an article be published. For now, though, there are many other articles you can work on, and I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Complex/Rational 18:12, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! My idea for it is so that the template could be moved to a sandbox, and then when ready, I could move it to the non-sandbox page. Does that sound good? Mariomaker-4 (talk) 18:17, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it to your userspace, User:Mariomaker-4/Infobox unbitrium. You can keep it there until an article is created or decide you don't want to work on it anymore. I would not recommend moving it to a more "public" sandbox or draft, because drafts there are routinely deleted if they're not edited by a human in six months; there's no way of predicting when E123 will be notable. Complex/Rational 18:41, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How do you even do that? Mariomaker-4 (talk) 22:00, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The process of incubating drafts is mainly for potential articles; in this particular case, Draft:Unbitrium already exists and has been flagged as promising such that it won't be deleted due to no editing activity (speedy deletion criterion G13). If you wanted to write a draft article on another subject, you could create a page in the draft namespace (note the prefix in the page I linked) using the article wizard and submit it for review via articles for creation when you believe it's ready. I strongly encourage you to read this page to have a rough idea of where to start, along with what generally is and isn't acceptable for new articles. Your submission at Articles for creation: Unbitrium (March 28)

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Robert McClenon was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: This draft has been resubmitted without any visible improvement, or with very little improvement. If you do not know what is needed to improve this draft, please ask for advice rather than making minor improvements and resubmitting.

You may ask for advice on how to improve this draft at the Teahouse or on the talk pages of any of the declining reviewers. (The declining reviewers may advise you to ask for advice at the Teahouse.)

If this draft is resubmitted without any improvement or with very little improvement again, it is likely to be rejected, and it may be nominated for deletion, or a topic-ban may even be requested against further submission by the responsible editor.

The instructions were not to resubmit without explaining why this draft should be accepted, and in particular explaining what had changed since 2012. This draft has been resubmitted without the requested explanation.

This draft has been Rejected by a reviewer in the Articles for Creation review process. DO NOT resubmit this draft or attempt to resubmit this draft or prepare or submit a draft that is substantially the same as this draft without discussing the reasons for the rejection. You may request a discussion with the rejecting reviewer, or you may request a discussion with the community at the Teahouse. A discussion will not necessarily agree to a resubmission.

It should be noted that the reviewer has not decided that the topic is not notable. An article on the topic may be accepted in the future. However, there is no reason to think that this draft will become an article, and there is evidence that this draft will never become an article. If there is to be an article on this topic, this draft must first be blown up and started over.

If this draft is resubmitted without discussion and without starting it over, or if an attempt is made to resubmit this draft or an equivalent draft, without addressing the reasons for the Rejection by starting over, a partial block or a topic-ban may be requested against the submitting editor.

You may ask for advice about Rejection at the Teahouse.
