An editor that expressed concerns before now completely ignores the sources and wants to say which sources are valid and which isn't. This in no way helps with the wiki article. Hello. Please leave me a new message at the bottom of the page.

I like to keep threads of discussion in the same place, so

  • if you post something here, I will typically respond here, so please watch this page.
  • if I posted something on your talk page, I'll await your response there, but feel free to respond here if you wish.

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' I appreciate the trust the community has in me, and I'll try hard not to delete the main page or block Jimbo. -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:00, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cahir Grinder

I understand why you want this deleted, but I'm sure you've never tasted it either. I'll try and get some pictures.

Maybe I jumped the gun on that one, but the way to save the article is by citing independent, reliable sources about it, rather than uploading photos. -SpuriousQ (talk) 03:28, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Harrington

Excellence addiction to the Dan Harrington article, Nice work! ▪◦▪≡ЅiREX≡Talk 04:29, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :-) but I think you give me too much credit. I just cited the website the previous content was largely copied from. -SpuriousQ (talk) 05:25, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Captain-poison has vandelised my userpage. please help me. he has switched my family tree stuff of the family of Gengis Khan into The forsytes and Borat! help. -- OV

I reverted the edit. -SpuriousQ (talk) 11:25, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

he's doin the block thing again... but not you now he's just goe on Sexmeeres page again and said i've blocked her for life! DC

He's been temporarily blocked, more silliness will result in an indefinite block. -SpuriousQ (talk) 10:22, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paris Hilton - Celebutante

I believe you and I came to small consensus about this issue, see talk here. I could use some support on this issue. Its a neutral and accurate description.--Conrad Kilroy 00:00, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Hi, SpuriousQ, and thanks for your participation in my RfA. I've withdrawn it, and will be writing up an "analysis" of it, which will soon be available at User:Giggy/RfA/Giggy when it's done. Please come around when you get the chance, and give me feedback on how I can improve. Thanks again, Giggy UCP 04:47, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Curious

I'm curious what your reasoning is in saying User:Jameeserano's edits are in "good faith" and not blocking him when the two edits right before that were both vandalism of user pages. It seemed quite a slam dunk to me, did you happen to see something I missed? Trusilver 05:40, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Trusilver, I checked out his contributions from one or two days ago, he's not your regular vandal account. Just seems like someone unfamiliar with Wikipedia policy and frustrated that his articles were getting AfD'd. Plus, he seems to have stopped the vandalism. All in all, blocking him didn't seem constructive to me.
By the way, I've noticed you've been doing some great anti-vandal work lately. Keep it up :-) -SpuriousQ (talk) 06:29, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic, just wanted to see what you are seeing :). Have a great night! Trusilver 06:31, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted you on the Paris Hilton article. It looked like vandalism but when you reverted me I took a closer look and saw I was totally wrong. Sorry, --CrohnieGalTalk 11:59, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, I've done the same thing before :-) -SpuriousQ (talk) 12:01, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What?

What the hell are you talking about? I have never looked up Lostock, what the hell is it? =S

You probably have a shared IP address. This edit came from your IP. -SpuriousQ (talk) 05:09, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paybacks (Band)

Hello,

Paybacks has significance. I quote http://www.creemmedia.com/_site/BeatGoesOn/Paybacks/KnockingHarder001.html

"Rolling Stone and Spin have given the band much-deserved, if not belated, nods. The Carson Daly Show snagged the quartet as house-band for two nights this month after Daly caught their recent, sold-out CMJ fest performance in Manhattan...The band has done everything, big tours (they did Southern Culture on the Skids tour this year), European excursions (they're in Spain this month), and countless U.S. club jaunts"

They qualify for an international tour, and performance on TV. Please un-delete the page.

If you can create an article that is verifiable and asserts notability by drawing from independent, reliable sources, feel free to do so. The article I deleted wasn't very informative, but if it helps I'll undelete it to user space in a little bit. -SpuriousQ (talk) 05:12, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Martial Arts

Hello,

Their are some martial arts styles that you haven't added on to Wikipedia.com, American Karate was created by Lou Casamassa, Toso Kune Do was created by Jason David Frank as Tommy Oliver from the Power Rangers Series, Shorinkenjitsu Kenpo Karate was created by Master Ernest, American Tiger Jiujitsu was created by Master Ernest as well, Snake Fist Karate was created by Master Ernest as well as Shorinkenjitsu Kenpo Karate and American Tiger Jiujitsu, I was wondering do you think taht you could make those pages on this site?

Hey, how did you find me? I'm not really in charge of editing martial arts pages or anything like that. But, you can go ahead and make changes yourself! I do caution you, however, to ensure that the material you add is verifiable by citing reliable sources. You may also want to take a look at WP:5P for a good introduction to Wikipedia. Let me know if you have questions. -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dutchy of Jülich-Berg

Re
01:32, 20 June 2007 SpuriousQ (Talk | contribs) deleted "Dutchy of Jülich-Berg" ‎ (CSD G7: Author Requests Deletion)

Hi

I was just contemplating what to do about the 4,767 entries on my watchlist, and noted that this title is now gone. Inasmuch as I recall accessing (and evidently editing it--else wouldn't be on the WL!) I'd like to take a peak at it. Can you please access the page and plop a copy into here (Just write/paste-in over top of it).

Seems to me there ought to at least be a redirect, and this I can discuss with WP:Germany. Thanks. // FrankB 00:25, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fabartus. The article is available at Duchy of Jülich. Feel free to create what redirects you feel are appropriate. Actually, you yourself had moved the article to Duchy of Jülich-Berg, and then requested the old one be deleted. I had figured it was to make room for another article or some such... but it sounds like a redirect may be a good idea. -SpuriousQ (talk) 13:58, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gangrene Article.

That gangrene article is seriously F*CKED up, no offense to the writers of the article in question. The pictures of the rotting feet are totally disgusting. I know that wikipedia has a non-censoring policy, but wouldn't it be more prudent to hide the pictures in question for audiences with queasy stomachs as done in this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-ejaculate . That way you can get a warning across without violating no-censorship.

I appeal to the senses and the moral standings of the wikipedia administrator and hopes that he/she/it will act in due course. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.6.218.181 (talk) 22:01, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

KennieJYoung PageRank

You took down a link I put up on the PageRank information page, because it was directed to my own website. The Page is number One in every search engine for terms such as PageRank table, Google PageRank table, compare PageRank values, etc, so I don't have to add a link to attract people to the page. I added it as it is an authority page that has been at the top of Google,MSN and Yahoo search engines for three years and that would help your readers understand the value of PageRank, as it is much easier to understand for the average webmaster, than the mathematical gobbledigook that appears on the page, or contradictory information, such as, "These values can be viewed in the Google Directory. Unlike the Google Toolbar which shows the PageRank value by a mouseover of the greenbar, the Google Directory does not show the PageRank as a numeric value but only as a green bar." Where the writer seems to have confused himself.

Ther is absolutely nothing to gain for me adding a link to this page, as the links are all nofollow, so what underhand tactic did you think I was employing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.145.130.37 (talk) 20:17, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you remind me which website this is? I havent edited PageRank in months. I likely did not know it was your own website, and reverted on the basis of WP:NOT#LINK and WP:EL. A website being at the top of search engine results does not necessarily mean it is appropriate to link to on Wikipedia. -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:37, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re Anna

I was doing a not-too-large edit the other day, and at about the same time there occurred both an edit conflict and a bizarre bollixing up ... ALL the spacings disappeared ... of the whole article. When things cooled down, I reverted to an earlier, non-bollixed up version, and then added the edits I had planned on doing. How the couple of scrunched up sentences you found occurred (and then persisted) I haven't a clue. I believe I fixed them eventually. Sfahey (talk) 03:49, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found another missing space, but think that's all of them. -SpuriousQ (talk) 01:06, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please take a look at this?

I tried to post at Talk:Zionism, and all the text disappeared. I tried restoring by going back to the last version, and that gave a blank page as well. Now a sample test addition of text on the blank page yields no page content at all, but shows up in the history. Has the page simply reached its capacity, and I'm too dumb to notice, or is there a deeper technical problem here? Clueless, and grateful for any light you can shed, BYT (talk) 13:46, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should be fixed now. I'm not sure why you experienced the problems you did. Take a look at the page again and let me know if it's still wrong. You might want to hit reload in your browser. -SpuriousQ (talk) 16:14, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Spurious--many thanks for the help, that did it. BYT (talk) 16:50, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accusation of vandalization

Hello, I have been accused for vandalizing Nicole Richie, but the only thing I have ever edited on wikipedia is the sandbox. However I have a dynamic IP, I might have gotten the vandal's IP address. As the vandalization happened 21. March and my IP was last changed 3 days ago, I suspect this is the cause. Anyway, I just wanted to clear this up. Cheers.

83.108.231.61 (talk) 15:19, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about. As you can imagine, this happens a lot on Wikipedia. IPs are only blocked if they are currently vandalizing. -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:11, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SpuriousQ, I just wanted to let you know that you've been an administrator for a year now! name changing protocols

hi spuriousQ,

i was hoping you could help me a little with a name change.

i want to start editing under my name more, and not just making anonymous edits. i'd like to do this under a username that reflects my name actual, so i wanted to change my wikipedia username from computersnob to philadams.

it seems there is a user called User:Phil_Adams already on wikipedia, but he does not appear to have ever used that name to make edits. so i started via the faq and tried a name usurpation, but got moved to a name change page instead. i would like to change my username to philadams, but obviously it wouldn't bee cool if Phil Adams started getting active and we had very similar usernames. is there any way to merge accounts, or usurp his, or have philadams and Phil Adams and merge them?

thank you, Computersnob (talk) 17:10, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Philadams, it looks like this has been taken care of. [2] -SpuriousQ (talk) 21:56, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Datasheet 2.0

Hi SpuriousQ,
following Wikipedia Guidelines I submitted a post on July 24 into the section Talk:Datasheet Since I did not receive answer for more than one month I thought I could put the link on Datasheet external link. To my surprise, I have been banned. Where did I get wrong?

I would like to explain why I think the link is related and interesting.

You can find datasheet website two a penny and the few ones that are worth visiting were created at least five years ago. It seems to me that their features are not up to date, and have been over taken, by web 2.0

I felt frustrated working with these datasheet websites. To my big surprise sharing pizza and beer with several old college friends I discovered that they had the same feelings about them.

So, we all together decided to give birth to Datasheet 2.0

If You could spend a few minutes taking a look at our website You will see our commitment to transform datasheet to datasheet 2.0

Regards
Emanuele

Emanuele, thanks for writing. First of all, you were not blocked or banned. I'm not sure what gave you that idea.
Second, you stated on the talk page that if anyone liked, they could add the link to the article. It wasn't clear you were expecting an answer, and that may have something to do why you did not receive one.
Ultimately, that link is not appropriate for the article, according to Wikipedia's guidelines for external links. Wikipedia simply does not seek to find the best products and link to in this kind of article, because Wikipedia is not intended to promote *any* product, no matter how good it is. -SpuriousQ (talk) 12:00, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you reconsider a block?

Hello! I was just in the process of blocking an ip but you got there first. I was going to block for 48 hours since the last long block was just under a year ago and there have only been a few vandal edits. Could you consider shortening the block length? Term has only just started so vandalism generally peaks in September. Seraphim♥Whipp 13:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, in a random sampling of that IP's contribs, not one has been constructive. I'm pretty sure that no matter what the block length, the IP will pop up again on AIV sooner or later. But you have a point that the IP was silent for a significant time since the last block expired. Go ahead and readjust it if you wish. -SpuriousQ (talk) 13:42, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're probably right, but I like to remain hopeful :). Seraphim♥Whipp 13:45, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IP 64.18.36.1 block

Hi,

This IP has been blocked 8 times so far. The penultimate time it was for 3 months, and each time the owner has come back with the same fashion of vandalism. The last block was by you and it was only for one week (and it will be over tomorrow). Did you have any particular reason not to take further action against this user? The IP doesn't seem to be used by any other person. I believe there is enough reason to be a bit tough here.

--Farzaneh (talk) 19:43, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I chose one week mostly because the IP was quiet for several months after the previous block expired. Also at the time I noticed the talk page indicated it is registered to a school but when I looked at the WHOIS I couldn't see how whoever tagged that deduced that, so I decided to play it safe instead of a implementing a long school block (I see now its associated with a k-12 email address which probably means it's a school). Anyway if the vandalism continues, the block length will increase; it's not really worth adjusting the block length now. -SpuriousQ (talk) 20:14, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SpuriousQ--

I'm leaving this message with you and one other admin, in case one of you are busy now; hope this is OK.

Can you help me resurrect an article that was deleted so I can re-work it? Please see discussion below with admin who deleted it, thanks.

Incidentally, the topic, Camerado, already has an entry in Wikipedia which has been approved, not sure why this one might not qualify.

Thanks if you can,

JCM

===========================================

Hello - please email copy of deleted article for "Camerado"

Hello--

I see the page for Camerado had been deleted due to not being notable enough; I'd assumed the fact that it's one of the few active movie entities left in a country (Cambodia) which had had its *entire movie industry* (and most filmmakers) destroyed during the Khmer Rouge regime, and which is solely dedicated to the cause of reviving said industry would make it notable -- my bad if not.

Can you please email a copy of the article to my at johncmorley@gmail.com so I can examine it, etc, improve it and start it up as an incubator page.

I still don't think it should have been deleted...there are so few motion picture organizations existing out here - and how tough it is to actually operate under these circumstances.

Would have thought that would be notable.

Anyway, thanks
