This is the full table of the medal table of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. These rankings sort by the number of gold medals earned by a country. The number of silvers is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze. If, after the above, countries are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically. This follows the system used by the IOC.

61 countries boycotted these Games. As a form of protest against the USSR's intervention in Afghanistan, fifteen countries marched in the Opening Ceremony with the Olympic Flag instead of their national flags, and the Olympic Flag and Olympic Hymn were used at Medal Ceremonies when athletes from these countries won medals. One country — New Zealand — competed under their association flag (the New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association). Some of the teams who marched under other than their national flags were depleted by boycotts by individual athletes (see, for example, http://www.olympic.org.nz/GamesProfile.aspx?Print=&function=2&GamesID=27).
