Serena Williams defeated Jennifer Capriati in the final, 6–1, 6–7(7–9), 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2001 Canadian Open.[1][2][3]

Martina Hingis was the two-time reigning champion, but chose not to participate that year.
