- Assomada-Porto Rincão road became paved west of Chão de Tanque on the island of Santiago
- José Brito becomes foreign minister of Cape Verde
- Construction of the House of Marine and Sea Turtles began in Praia Baixo in São Domingos for the protection of sea turtles on the island, it was funded by the University of Algarve, Lisbon Oceanographic Institute and the local office of Lagoa near Faro, Portugal, it was completed in the following year.[1]
- Hotels and villas spread north of Sal Rei on Boa Vista Island
- Windmills started construction in the northwestern extremity of Boa Vista island
- January 9: Resumption of food exports to Sal and Boa Vista islands due to the agricultural pest, the Cape Verdean millipede (Spinotarsus caboverdus)[2]
- March 31: Record Cabo Verde started broadcasting its television station
- May 18: Local elections took place in some of its municipalities
- June 21-23: Brice Hortefeux, French Minister of Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Solidary Development) visited Praia
- June 27: A new government under Prime Minister Neves was announced [3]
- August 16: An umbral lunar eclipse took place, it started at moonrise after it begun when it was in the umbral portion and was seen for two hours
- September 2:
- Tropical Depression Josephine formed around 500 km SE of the island of Maio
- Tropical Depression Josephine became a tropical storm, the outer rain bands produced minor rainfall, totaling around 14 mm (0.55 inches).[4] There were no reports of damage or flooding from the rain and overall effects were minor.[5]
- September 3: Tropical Storm Josephine left the vicinity of Cape Verde, minor rainfall ended
- October 9: ISE, ISCEMAR, INAG and INIDA dissolved, they became the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, School of Business and Government, School of Agricultural Sciences and Environment and School of Maritime Sciences, all part of the University of Cape Verde.[6]
- November 24: Universidade de Santiago opened in Assomada
- December 13: São Filipe Municipal Museum opened on the old town hall of São Filipe[7]

- Estádio de Cumbém in Assomada completed and inaugurated
- Cape Verdean Cup cancelled due to financial concerns and the rescheduling of the national championship finals
- February 9: Estadio Municipal Arsénio Ramos completed and opened in Sal Rei on the island of Boa Vista
- May 10: the 2008 Cape Verdean Football Championships began
- July 5: As Académica do Fogo fielded a player suspened in the Fogo Cup, the knockout stage, Sal Rei also fielded an ineligible played and the knockout stage was rescheduled
- July 6: Académico 83 do Porto Inglês celebrated its 25th anniversary
- July 26: The Knockout stage of the 2007 Cape Verdean Football Championships began
- August 16: Sporting Clube da Praia claimed their 7th national championship title
- October 8: Cutelinho FC celebrated its 25th anniversary
