Abigail Spears and Katarina Srebotnik were the defending champions, but chose not to compete together. Spears plays alongside Alicja Rosolska. Srebotnik teamed up with Shuko Aoyama, but lost in the first round to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Olga Savchuk.

Latisha Chan will become the sole holder of the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking if she reaches the final with Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková. Chan currently holds the top ranking jointly with Martina Hingis, who retired at the end of 2017.
