Tímea Babos and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova were the defending champions, but chose not to participate this year.

Latisha Chan will become the sole holder of the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking if she wins the title with Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková. Chan currently holds the top ranking jointly with Martina Hingis, who retired at the end of 2017.
