The 2022 Rose Bowl is a college football bowl game that will be played on January 1, 2022, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. EST (2:00 p.m. local PST) on ESPN.[3] It will be the 108th edition of the Rose Bowl Game, and will be one of the 2021–22 bowl games concluding the 2021 FBS football season. Sponsored by Capital One Venture X, the game is officially known as the Rose Bowl Game presented by Capital One Venture X. The game is organized by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association and will be preceded by the Rose Parade in the morning. Game tickets will be digital, replacing the colorful paper tickets. Actor LeVar Burton will preside over the game as he is the Grand Marshal for the Rose Parade and the football game. The theme is "Dream. Believe. Achieve." The winner of the game will be awarded with the Leishman Trophy.

Teams

Consistent with conference tie-ins, the game will be played between Big Ten Conference representative Ohio State and Pac-12 Conference champion Utah. The teams will be officially welcomed to Southern California at Disneyland on December 27. They will also participate at the Lawry’s Beef Bowl, a tradition since 1956.

This will mark the second meeting between the teams; they first met on September 27, 1986 at Ohio Stadium where Ohio State defeated Utah, 64-6.[4]

Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes, the co-champions of the Big Ten Conference East Division, will be making their 16th trip to Pasadena.

Utah Utes

Winners of the Pac-12 Football Championship Game, the Utes will be playing in the Rose Bowl Game for the first time.
