- St. Mary's College of Maryland The entire school was established and designated as a "living monument to religious freedom" (by order of the Maryland State Legislature). The college's nickname is "The Monument School". Designation continues through to the present. School is located on the site of the original birthplace of religious freedom in North America.
- U.S. Colored Troops Monument, Lexington Park, honors and memorializes African Americans from St. Mary's County, Maryland who served as soldiers in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
