KIXY-FM (94.7 FM) is a radio station that serves the San Angelo, Texas area with a Top 40 (CHR) format. The station is owned by Foster Communications. The station went on air January 1, 1967.[1] 94.7 FM joined 1260 AM (which signed on in 1954). 94.7 was a simulcast by day of 1260 and continued the AM format by nights. Call letters were variously KWFR and KIXY. KWFR stood for "Walton Foster Radio".

The FM antenna has always been colocated with 1260 near 27th and Volney. The original shorter tower hosted 94.7 at 39kilowatts at 140 feet above average terrain. In the early eighties, FM raised height to 400 feet and power to 100,000 watts. The taller tower raised the AM efficiency and AM power was reduced to 540 watts to maintain constant coverage.

The station was always very promotionally oriented. Studios were for many years located at City Hall Plaza with near fishbowl style studios.

Every so often, KIXY will set up a citywide scavenger hunt, known as "Dash for Cash". "Dash for Cash" is a scavenger hunt of sorts, with cryptic clues given to listeners to try to find the certificate to claim the money. The longer the money goes unclaimed, the more the value of the certificate increases. This event is held on a yearly basis with $10,000 given away each time.

KIXY 94.7 (Foster Communications) has been a supporting member of the Children's Miracle Network of Shannon Medical Center. Helping to raise money for the local Charity with the KIXY Cares for Kids 3 day Radiothon, raising over $180,000 in 2015.
