Club career

Early career

Choinière began playing soccer at the age of five playing for local club Soccer Haut-Richelieu.[1] In 2011, he joined the Montreal Impact's academy program.[2]

FC Montreal

He made his professional debut on April 10, 2016 in a 2–1 defeat to Toronto FC II. Choinière was cautioned in the 93rd minute of the match. He then scored his first goal for the club in a 2–1 defeat to Bethlehem Steel on May 15, 2016.[3]

Montreal Impact

After making his first team debut for the Impact in the 2016 Canadian Championship against Toronto FC, Choinière signed an MLS contract with the Montreal Impact on June 28, 2016.[4] In October 2016, Choinière made his MLS debut against the New England Revolution.[5] Choinière scored his first goal for Montreal in the Canadian Championship against the Vancouver Whitecaps on May 23, 2017. After making one appearance in the 2018 season, he would miss 6 months after having surgery on his ankle in April 2018.[6]

Choinière was released by Montreal at the end of their 2018 season.[7]

Forge FC

On March 7, 2019, Choinière signed with Canadian Premier League club Forge FC ahead of the inaugural CPL season.[2] Choinière scored his first goal for Forge on August 1, 2019, a late winner to make the score 2–1 at home in the preliminary round of the 2019 CONCACAF League against Guatemalan club Antigua GFC. [8] In the 2019 Canadian Premier League season, Forge finished in second place in both the spring and fall seasons, qualifying for the finals, where they faced and defeated Cavalry FC 2–0 over two legs. Choinière scored the second goal during stoppage time in the second leg, sealing the North Star Shield for Forge.[9]

International career

Choinière received his first Canadian youth national team call-up in 2012 for the Copa Mexico de Naciones Sub–15.[1] In 2014, he played for the Canada U18 team at the 2014 Tournoi de Limoges.[1] From 2015 until 2017 he attended several Canada U20 preparation camps, but ultimately missed the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship due to injury.[1]

In September 2017, Choinière received his first Canadian senior team call-up for a friendly against Jamaica, but did not feature in the match.[1]
