It was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham.[1]
Its products are made in Sweden.[2] Byredo is a portmanteau of "By Redolence".[3]
The brand is expanding into leather goods and accessories,[4][5] and the first collection of handbags and small leather goods debuted at Paris Fashion Week in September 2017.[6]
Byredo is available in Russia, France, Hong Kong, Sweden, the UK, the US, Canada and on it website.[7]

In 2013 Gorham sold a majority stake of the company to London-based investment firm Manzanita Capital,[3][8] which has invested in Diptyque and Malin + Goetz,[9] and owns Space NK.[3]
