When Al Ahly's foudners began creating its Handball, Basketball, and Volleyball teams, they believed it was important to build an arena to host the various home matches. In 1978, they began making the designs and searching for funds. However, due to some funding problems the project was postponed. Later, on February 4, 1994, Al Ahly opened its sports hall officially in time of Al Ahly Chairman Saleh Selim.
Opening Ceremony
After many years of waiting, Al Ahly finally built its sports hall arena on February 4, 1994 when it officially opened its hall in a vast opening ceremony. The ceremony began with a word from Al Ahly chairman, Saleh Selim, who declared that the name of the hall would be "Prince Abdalla El Faisl Hall," due to his great efforts and helping towards Al Ahly, and that his son Mohammed El faisl, who was in attendance, would receive a Commemorative medal honoring him and his father.
The first game held on Al Ahly sports Hall was a friendly basketball game between al Ahly and Ithhadd alex. After that, they played a futsal match between old Al Ahly players and old El Esmailly players. Further, both Mohmoud El Khatib and Aly Abu Greisha participated in that match.
