Rajah Muthiah Institute of Health Sciences was established in the year 1980 with the opening of the Dental College. Thereafter in the second phase of development, the Rajah Muthiah Medical College Hospital (RMMCH) was established in the year 1985.[1] In 2010, the Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme for Life-Saving Treatments at RMMCH was instituted.[2] The prominent murder of Pon Navarasu was held here, which raised to the ban of ragging in Tamil Nadu.[3]
