West Pleasant View is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 3,840 at the 2010 census.[1]
Geography
West Pleasant View is located at 39°43′58″N 105°10′44″W / 39.73278°N 105.17889°W (39.732815, -105.178863).[2] It is bordered to the west by Golden, to the east by Lakewood, and to the north by unincorporated Applewood. Interstate 70, U.S. Route 6, and U.S. Route 40 (West Colfax Avenue) all cross the community from west to east. Downtown Denver is 10 miles (16 km) to the east.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2), all of it land.[1]

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 3,932 people, 1,606 households, and 941 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,615.1 people per square mile (1,012.1/km2). There were 1,681 housing units at an average density of 1,118.0 per square mile (432.7/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 91.45% White, 1.30% African American, 0.99% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.52% from other races, and 3.23% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.21% of the population.
There were 1,606 households out of which 27.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.3% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.4% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the CDP, the population was spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 34.8% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 117.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 121.5 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $40,160, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $35,929 versus $27,742 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $19,838. About 7.3% of families and 10.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.4% of those under age 18 and 5.1% of those age 65 or over.

Colorado's second largest school district, the Jefferson County Public Schools, has its headquarters in West Pleasant View.[5][6]
